My first controller, I had for about a year, then the grips started splitting from the controller and the right bumper broke (not just stopped responding but actually broke). My second controller I had for 1 month, the left bumper stopped working after it BROKE!!! Are you kidding me???? The third controller I also had for one (1) month when the left bumper again broke and the charging port did not consistently do its job. If playing with the charging cable in the port, it would activate the vibration in the controller for about 5 seconds straight, randomly and frequent. Then to top it off, on two occasions it locked up in game, making a loud buzzing noise through my tv and froze and crashed my game. I’m now on my fourth controller, and the only reason I have had 4 is thanks to getting the extended coverage I bought and had to REPERCHASE (pro-rated) every time. Best Buy should have waived the fee! I’m sorry, but a $150 controller should not fall apart. Until Microsoft can build a quality truly ELITE controller, don’t waste your hard earned money on this. The one controller I have had since I bought my Xbox One S is better built and consistently works.

If not for it being one piece with the right shoulder bumper (from what I've read) I assume it would have fallen out. It still works but messes with my confidence a little when playing Overwatch. I'm buying another one but this time getting the replacement protection through BB.
