Unfortunately you must have this to make use of all of One's features. Also they advertise free games; true but misleading. I bought the Xbox Live Day one edition and it only comes with free games for 360. I guess it does come with free access to xbox fitness but with the disclaimer that that may change in the future (hanging ax).

It comes with a day one card that isnt useful for anything that I am aware of. The shadow Jago character that comes included for Killer Instinct is a decent character that plays and looks slightly different that normal Jago. Killer Instinct is already free to play but the free version including this character does not unlock any abilities for achievements if you care about that sort of thing.

Purchased for Shadow Jago code. Card looks cool. Otherwise, it's basically your standard 12 month membership.

same live as I had for the 360, but you got a medal card (for no reason) and it was $40 instead of $60.

New to Best Buy and had terrible time getting the download. Total hassle. When i did finally decide I was defeated and called, they were very helpful. I got the download right before xmas, so all worked out.

my son activated the membership and the free download for a game it came with, then when he went to sign on again it said that he needed a membership? we were on the phone with Microsoft for over 2 hours on Christmas day with a miserable child, not fun. they had to give us a new code and told us the card was bad. We were not able to get the game back, they told us to bring the card back to best buy, but haven't gotten there yet.

stated that Killer Instinct was included. But it's only one character. You have to purchase the others. This was very misleading.

Its too bad Microsoft makes you pay so much just play a game you already purchased.

It's a known fact you will need a Gold subscription in order to play games online and while most will purchase the 3 month or 12 month subscriptions, it should be pointed out that a full year is a much better deal since you are paying less overall than buying only 3 months at a time, but in this instance, you are also getting a free download for an additional character for the Killer Instinct fighting game that is not available any other way just yet. Don't be fooled into thinking the game is free with the 1-year subscription. The game is actually free to play with or without Xbox Live and only requires an internet connection to download the game plus the only character available for use unless you pay to unlock the other characters. The difference here is you are getting an exclusive download for the game for purchasing something you would have paid the same price for anyway.

My Xbl account was set to expire and auto renew on 11/20/2013. I figured why not go buy this card instead and just take advantage on the included DLC. to my surprise when the product rang up, it included a 20.00 xbl store credit too! so, I got a full year of xbl, two DLC codes and now 20.00! I couldn't be happier! if anyone's xbl is going to expire, or even if not, since it won't go into effect until your current subscription expires. I would strongly recommend taking advantage of this deal.
