Xbox live is awesome, they give you two free games a month, and discounts on others. I like being able to download stuff from the store and play online with other people too.

It's always a good idea to grab a 12 month gold card. Even if you don't need it right now, it adds to what you currently have. Plus, if you can find one for sale, even better.

If you intend to play online (against other people, in real time), you need a Gold membership. It also entitles you to free games that can be downloaded through the XBox

What more can I say. If you want to get the full Xbox experience, you need to subscribe to Xbox Live. I have been Gold for 4 years now and I plan to keep it that way.
