Instead it gave me a month or so of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate with no option to keep it as 3 months of Gold. I was okay with the conversion but anyone wanting to use this for 3 months of Live Gold should be aware.

If you are already a Xbox Game Pass Ultimate member, then redeeming a code for Xbox Live Gold will automatically convert its value to your Ultimate membership. This is because Xbox Game Pass Ultimate includes the features of both Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Live Gold in one service. To redeem this code for just Xbox Live Gold, you'll first need to cancel your Ultimate membership.
