You do when you want a stable network playing against the best there is to offer. This card is a good deal, I got a few of them, no giving my credit card to Microsoft.

I prefer to buy XBox Live with prepaid cards, since I can usually find a sale on them throughout the year. Beats letting Microsoft charge you annually on your credit card.

For the price you get unbeatable value, including online multiplayer, 4 free games a month (2 XboxOne and 2 360backward compatible games) regular discounts on DLC and digital versions of games and access to countless promotions and free-play days. It used to be ONLY your ticket online, but Microsoft has done so much to add value to the Gold membership, that it's practically a no-brainer for anyone who plays Xbox.
