Just plug a keyboard into the xbox. The buttons are small. Most frustrating is how faulty mine was. I press “f” and it registers as “m”. Yours may work fine, but I’d say you’re better off plugging a keyboard in to the box or using the xbox app to type.

I purchased this device so I can type into a web browser instead of using the pointer one letter at a time. This poorly designed chat pad just would not fit into any of my remotes. I read reviews later and they had the same problem. I tried putting it in every possible manner with no results. I broke one remote in the process. (The connector piece get pushed in so nothing else can plug into it.) In the past, this was more critical because of no headphone jack unless you got a separate device. Bottom line, this is designed for the older style remote controllers. I took it back to Best Buy and the technician was able to put chat pad into one of my remote controllers. I would suggest that you bring your controller with you when you buy this to make sure it fits. As far as chatting is concerned, it's about as easy as texting on an old flip phone. I left the chat pad connected to one of the remotes, since I didn't want to remove it and break the other remote. I then got an old wired keyboard and plugged it into the Xbox and it works great.

Works fine in my original Xbox one controller, but on my white controller from the Xbox one S it will not plug in.

This idea is amazing. The execution is horrible it worked pretty good for the first few days. Im an adult user and very easy on my gear and this stopped functioning after about a week. The mic doesn't register as being in and faded in and out until it just didn't work at all. The keypad stopped being responsive after approximately 2 weeks of casual use.. too bad.. wasted time.

Kinda of a pain makes the controller less comfortable. Almost easier to just use the controller to message with

This is ok for kids. Some of the buttons stick, so it is frustrating to use at times.

The keyboard is just hard to use. I normally hit 2 or more keys trying to type. Just need more spacing

Oldest son asked for this for Christmas. It was used twice. Not really a huge need for the Xbox one

Bought this but didn't like the feel/grip of it, I don't really use it.

Ok, included mic broke within a week, but was nice to use in chat heavy games.

Old one broke and they needed a new one. Best buy had the best price at the time.

Worked great while it worked. Did not last long. Disappointed

We purchased this product so my son could attach his microphone, as our original xbox controller did not have a stereo jack. The product did what we needed it to do but after about 4 months of use the stereo jack stopped making a secure connection and we had to replace the item.

Apparently each chat pad is specific to each country. I’m in the US and expected a US chatpad. I received a chatpad for Spain and had to change my language to Spanish (which I don’t speak unfortunately) to get the keyboard to apply the correct letters and symbols when pressed. Even after changing the language to match the chatpad I received 27 of the symbols weren’t correct. When pressing the key on the chat pad, it would show a different symbol or not even work. Before you ask, yes I updated both the controller and the chatpad. Nothing helped. Thanks for the wrong country hat pad Best Buy!

This chatpad didnt fit my controller well it was too tight

Only fits in one of the 2 controllers. Seems to work ok though.

Found out too late that this will not work with the newer Xbox systems. Nowhere tells you this. It's a shame because it could be a good way to enter text quickly. My grandson was very disappointed on his birthday.
