Customers are saying

Customers are delighted by the Xbox One Kinect Sensor's voice control and ease of use, frequently praising its improved accuracy and fun factor. However, some users experienced issues with compatibility and game support, particularly needing an adapter for newer Xbox consoles. The sensor's size was also a point of contention for some customers.

Didn't work with XBox One S. Needs to buy a separate adaptor to use with Xbox One S

I was unpleasantly surprised when I discovered that the plug on the Xbox One Kinect Sensor did not fit my Xbox one S. Microsoft has created an adapter which they are charging an additional $40 dollars for which was currently unavailable at my local Best Buy. I was so disappointed with Microsoft that I returned the unit.

I've gone through two of these units (they just stop working). The 2nd unit simply stopped working after 3 months. It's basically an overpriced, glorified Skype camera that doesn't work very well (when it works at all). Please save your money and buy something else instead...

    Very nifty device

This here is an extremely useful device. I can simply yell at my Xbox One with a barrage of commands to control it. I could also use my hands if I wanted. It spies on me when me and my lady are sleeping. It's great! It makes navigating through Cable TV a breeze and more enjoyable. I love saying "Xbox, On." It's kind of a morning ritual for me. Hopefully they can implement some of the more impressive features of this unit in the future.

I bought this product with a coupon and waited a few months before I got around to hooking it up. By then there were no adapters available or they cost as much as the unit itself.

I haven't tried it yet. There is no adapter in the box!!! Turns out Best Buy doesn't carry them. Neither does Target, Walmart, or Game Stop. There needs to be more games that use the kinect, anyway.

The install told us that the video card we had is now only the minimum level and warned of a degraded experience. It was the recommended Nvidia card that was listed on the box. Beware

    Expands System - Good Functions

Sensor was on sale so I figured why not. It adds some cool functionality to XBOX One. I like being able to voice command the system on. True test will be some of the games. Will be very happy if there are a couple that work really well. So far, pleased with it. It sometimes does not hear all that well though. I have a very quiet environment and it still hiccups.

    Seems to work okay

The Kinect seems to be somewhat bulky for what little the box actually contains. However, it works pretty well overall. I've had difficulty getting the included game to recognize my kids and let me step out of the camera view. The instructions for how use it, what commands you can say and when, and how to adjust the settings seem to be plain wrong (due to Xbox system updates perhaps) or missing completely. I think that once I get the hang of it I'll be able to use it better. Microsoft seems to be backing away from their initial push on this product though so hopefully they continue to support it and create new games for it. If you are not interested in the dancing games and you don't have young kids that you want to be able to play games without needing to figure out how to use a controller, then I probably wouldn't recommend getting this. Otherwise, I do recommend it.

I got mine when you couldn't get an xbox one without it but I like it. I use it for the voice commands to turn off my xbox. I also used it for auto login although that can now be done without the Kinect. I don't use it to play games with but it does serve a purpose.

    Kinects are cool, but

Honestly, I got the Kinect because I am a huge Microsoft and Xbox fanboy. The only things I regularly use it for is voice commands to the Xbox. Unfortunately, that's about it :( While there are a handful of games that work with the Kinect, its largely unsupported as of late. Really, it is an amazing, quality piece of hardware, but if you buy it don't expect too much out of it in terms of gaming. I still think its worth it though... hopefully it becomes an interesting element of the Xbox experience again.

If you're buying an Xbox One then go all the way and buy the Kinect too. It allows you to use voice commands to operate your Xbox and controls your television volume also.

    Necessary for Xbox one media

It was kinda glitchy for me. It picks up my voice most of the time but it misses often enough to bring the rating down to a 4/5. If you want to use your xbox for watching movies, TV, netflix, hulu this is a must! It makes watching netflix that much easier because you can just control everything without picking up the remote, helpful when eating food and such. Another problem is you'll most likely need to keep xbox in its sleep mode and not power saver mode to use the kinects full features, potentially a electric bill problem. Overall if you can get this in a bundle, I'd go for it. If you want nice things in your life this is one of them!
