Customers are saying

Customers enjoy the Xbox One Media Remote's ease of use, backlight, and comfortable size and design. Many appreciate its good battery life and the pleasant feel and texture. However, some users point out limitations in range and the need for a direct line of sight to the console. The infrared technology and occasional response time delays were also noted as potential drawbacks.

Must have if you use your xbox for movies or tv.

It controls everything in the xbox one. It is not for games of course but if you use your xbox one to control your cable box and tv it's a must have. It's rediculous to use the controller to change channels and watch videos. It even works great to navigate through apps.

The remote is well designed, easy to use. Makes the XBox much more user friendly for the non-gaming applications. Love that it lights up when you pick it up.

Use it mostly for netflix, etc. Point it directly at the console, not the Kinect. Very responsive, I wish the instructions to set it up were more clear. You literally do nothing but start using it out of the box lol, directions insinuate you have to set it up.

This small remote does a huge job. Very intuitive remote gives easiness of navigating your Xbox One, lights up when being carried its really a nice feature.

It does what it is meant to do, but apparently has some sort of motion sensor inside it that makes the keys light up when you move it. Seems like a waste of battery power to me rather than just lighting up when you hit a key or have a dedicated timed light up button.

Turns Xbox one into a serious home media machine

With a controller I never used most of the media/streaming players on the xbox one except for a couple that I can't use on my shield console. This changes that. It's seamless and since I have a kinect I can control the volume of my ancient JVC receiver and my tv turns on automatically. That's probably the best thing about the way the xbox one with this and a kinect works, Its seamless. Not a huge fan of the 4 directional buttons or the rubber texture, but its not worth taking a star off. I would say this is mandatory if you are using the xbox as a media player.

Backlit, rubbery surface, handles navigation through the console and of course the media. I am usualy the guy who buys the right one second, unless there are three options. I went with this remote first and oddly find it to be exactly what I was looking for,.

While I wish the remote had some more capabilities, like channel numbers, previous channel, record, etc I understand that is not the purpose of this remote and even with some of my wants not included this remote is great. It's nice to handle a remote, not a controller, to conduct some of the command I use for media consumption. And, there are some feature of the Xbox One that I didn't really use until I got this great remote including pulling up a Twitter feed and reading what people are tweeting during a sporting event, TV show, etc. I dig this remote, recommend it, and would buy it again. Good product.

This is a remote that should be packed with an xbox, not a separate accessory. The remote is functional. It has a large odd bump on the underside of the remote. So it will not lay flat. It has a rubbery texture. The only plus I see is the remote buttons light up when it is moved or handled.

Never thought I'd say I like the feel of a remote but this thing feels great, it's a texture thing. The remote works flawlessly with the Xbox.

This is a very simple remote to use, just ask my dog that decided to try to operate it by pushing every button with his teeth. The only issue I find with this item is, it's not dog resistant. Design flaw..There should be a warning somewhere on the box..

I purchased this remote as I watch a lot of NetFlix throught my Xbox one. It is great remote and now I do not have to find the game controllers to watch TV. Build quality is awesome. A must buy.

    The cheap comes out expensive

My dad used to say that 'the cheap always comes out expensive.' Don't get the cheaper third party remotes. I've gone through two of them trying to save money (the Insignia one with the keyboard and the thin profile one with an N on top), and they have all not worked as intended, had thin plastic that cracked the first time they fell, or had serious line of sight issues with the IR signal. After spending $40 on several remotes, I finally bought this one. It's AWESOME. The design is fall-proof. It's heavy duty. It's ergonomic. Think tiny rounded toblerone bar.

Good, Great but get a real Harmony Remote

Very good, much better than turning the game controller on and off. But I have three different remotes to manage my home theater system. I've been considering a harmony remote for awhile, the one that requires a laptop to program. But all in all the Xbox media remote is an awesome easy fix.

Bought this for when watching HBO GO, and got fed up with the controller to move around the screen. This is responsive, accurate and lets you do everything you need without the pain of using thumbsticks. If you watch any vids / movies, then you'll want this.

Only one thing wrong with it and that is that you have to point the remote at the x box. Every other remote I have is not this old school. But still an awesome remote. Love the automatic lights on it so you can see what you are pressing in the dark.

I got this controller thinking it was going to be as convent as my Xbox 360 remote was going to be but I was wrong. I hope Microsoft comes out with a newer model of this controller with more features on it. Aside from that its a great remote & it does what it needs too for the mot part.

As a media remote, it works great. In conjunction with Kinect, it controls basic functions of my tv and receiver, so i don't need to switch between remotes. It's nice that it's always on too, so you don't need to wake it up like an xbox controller. Backlight is nice. I know there are other remotes that have many more buttons and can do more, but this works perfectly for your basic media controls. Only thing I wish was present was a rechargeable battery instead of AAAs, since I just had to replace mine.

very nice controler for the xbox one. I am 65 yrs old so I dont care much for the voice control. witch doesnt always work. if u use the xbox controler to watch movies it turns itself off after a bit so u have to turn it back on to do anything like pause or rewind. So its nice to have a remote.
