Since it wasnt, I ordered the adapter not for old headphones use but for computer speaker use. I plugged my Xbox One into my CPU Monitor via hdmi but the speakers were no bueno (obviously). So I ordered this adapter in order to get sound through my 2.1 Klipse computer speaker. I use a 3.5mm ipod wire to connect the speaker to the adapter. It works wonders. Sound goes through the speakers and bass through the subwoofers. If you want to just use headphones, then just plug headphones to the bottom of the adapter. PS4 already have this feature in their controller which xbox should've done but I'm glad xbox did something about it.

Good way to control the sound levels
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This little device does what it supposed to do by giving you the controls at your finger tips, but controlling the sound levels are a little, when trying to control the voice chat level the game sound level also changes. Don't know if it is a Compatibility issue with the Turtle Beaches I have or what but just a little insight

Perfect for avid gamers

Perfect surround sound with voice! You do have to get a special cable so you have sound and chat, but it is worth every penny.
