They added a bit of texture to the material. I prefer the smooth plastic over the new feel. May want to try one before buying. The battery cover is not the same shape as the older XBox One controller, so it will not go over our aftermarket rechargeable batteries. Not a big deal, we just play without the cover on.

The selection in-store is pretty non existent and has been for a while for X Box accessories. They apparently have items at a warehouse somewhere just not in person. We are longtime customers and this is not unusual.

There is only one complaint. That is, the left stick always starts drifting (move when you are not pushing on the stick) after several months of use. It gets increasingly worse until it's pretty much unusable in a game. Then I would have to go out and buy another one since the Microsoft warranty on this is only 90 days. I actually could have used the warranty this time because it starts having the same problem in the second month. But I was too busy to deal with it and now it's out of warranty. I heard that this is a well-known defect, but apparently, there is no re-engineering or updates from the manufacturer.
