The Microsoft Xbox Wireless Controller in Carbon Black is an exceptional piece of hardware that truly enhances the gaming experience, deserving every bit of its five-star rating. It offers remarkable performance, comfort, and versatility, making it a must-have for any serious gamer. Performance and Responsiveness: The controller's performance is top-notch, with precise and responsive controls that make gaming smooth and enjoyable. The improved d-pad and textured grips on the triggers and bumpers provide excellent control and accuracy, whether you're playing fast-paced shooters or intricate platformers. The wireless connectivity is seamless, offering a lag-free experience across various devices. Design and Comfort: The design of the Xbox Wireless Controller is both sleek and ergonomic. The Carbon Black color gives it a stylish, modern look that complements any gaming setup. The controller fits comfortably in my hands, even during extended gaming sessions, thanks to its well-thought-out shape and lightweight design. The textured grip ensures it stays secure in your hands, reducing fatigue and enhancing overall comfort. Compatibility: One of the key strengths of this controller is its versatility. It works flawlessly with Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, and Windows devices, making it an excellent choice for gamers who play across different platforms. Pairing the controller with various devices is straightforward, and switching between them is quick and hassle-free. Battery Life: The battery life is impressive, providing long hours of uninterrupted gameplay. The controller uses AA batteries, but it can also be equipped with rechargeable battery packs, offering flexibility in how you power it. This ensures that you won't be left in the lurch in the middle of an intense gaming session. Additional Recommendation - Thumb Caps: While the Xbox Wireless Controller is fantastic on its own, I would recommend investing in thumb caps for the analog sticks. Thumb caps can enhance grip and comfort, providing additional control during gameplay. They also help to protect the analog sticks from wear and tear, prolonging the lifespan of your controller. Conclusion: In summary, the Microsoft Xbox Wireless Controller in Carbon Black is an outstanding accessory for any gamer. Its exceptional performance, comfortable design, and wide compatibility make it a standout choice. With the addition of thumb caps, you can further enhance the gaming experience and protect your investment. If you're looking for a reliable, high-quality controller, this one is hard to beat.

I'm giving it only one star, and it is not to the controller. It is to the open box deals best buy offers. The controller came dirty with a sticky white thing. If best buy is offering open box items at a discounted price, can you at least clean them?

Design & Comfort: The Xbox One controller maintains a comfortable and ergonomic design, with a textured grip that aids in handling. The layout is intuitive, making it easy to jump in for gamers of all skill levels. Build Quality: Sturdy and reliable with responsive buttons and triggers, though some users report stick drift after extended use. Functionality: Includes a 3.5mm headphone jack and Bluetooth support for easy connection to a variety of devices. The impulse triggers add to an immersive gaming experience. Battery Life: Operates on AA batteries with up to 30 hours of life, but lacks a built-in rechargeable option, which can be seen as a downside. Compatibility: Excellent, works with the entire Xbox One family, Xbox Series X|S, PCs, and other Bluetooth-enabled devices. Performance: Precise analog sticks and an improved D-pad provide a high-quality gaming experience with minimal latency issues. Value: Offers good value for its price considering its build and performance, though additional costs for rechargeable batteries or the Play and Charge Kit should be considered. Overall: The Xbox One controller is a solid, well-rounded gamepad that is versatile and user-friendly, but battery life and potential stick drift issues may detract from the overall experience.

The Microsoft Xbox Wireless Controller for Xbox Series S in Carbon Black is a gaming masterpiece. From design to functionality, it raises the bar for what a controller can be. The Carbon Black color not only looks sleek but also feels premium in hand. The improved ergonomics make this controller a joy to use. Every button, trigger, and bumper is precisely placed, offering a responsive and immersive gaming experience. The attention to detail in the design is evident, catering to both aesthetics and comfort. The wireless connectivity is flawless, providing a responsive and lag-free connection to my Xbox Series S. The setup is a breeze, and the controller quickly becomes an extension of my gaming instincts. The range is impressive, allowing me the freedom to move around without sacrificing performance. The textured and responsive thumbsticks enhance precision, whether I'm navigating through menus or engaging in fast-paced action sequences. The adaptive D-pad adds a layer of versatility, ensuring that the controller meets the demands of a wide variety of games. One of the standout features is the Share button, simplifying the process of capturing and sharing epic gaming moments. It's a small addition, but it makes a significant impact on the overall gaming experience, especially in the age of social media. The built-in rechargeable battery is a game-changer. Say goodbye to constantly swapping out batteries; a single charge provides hours of uninterrupted gameplay. The USB-C charging port is a welcome modern touch, making it easy to power up the controller with the same cable used for many other devices. In summary, the Microsoft Xbox Wireless Controller for Xbox Series S in Carbon Black is a triumph in gaming hardware. It combines style, comfort, and cutting-edge technology seamlessly, delivering an unparalleled gaming experience. Whether you're a casual gamer or a dedicated enthusiast, this controller deserves a solid five-star rating.

New Controller (Same as the Old Controller)

I used an Xbox One controller for light PC gaming the past number of years, and figured I'd upgrade to a Series S/X controller upon seeing it on sale. Figured I'd relegate the One controller to "guest" duty the rare times I may have a guest over for a gaming session. In terms of ergonomics, the Series controller feels real similar to the One before it, which is to say: it's a comfy piece of plastic. The textured grip & triggers of the Series controller make it even more comfortable. Also nice to see USB C for charging, though for a 2020s-era piece of tech, I reckon most people would expect it to be there. It paired about as easy with my PC as I could hope for, nothing dramatic to report on that front. One unfortunate thing with this controller that's been carried over from the One: Why, in the year 2024, is the rechargable battery a separate purchase? Why, this far into the 2020s, do we need batteries like gamers did when they had GameBoys in the 1990s/early 2000s? Sony's had rechargeable batteries in their PlayStation controllers since the PS3 days, Nintendo moved away from batteries in controllers after the Wii, it's baffling to me that Microsoft keeps opting for an antiquated charging scheme when the Switch Pro controller & DualSense today cost pretty darn close to what the Xbox Series controller costs without a separate charging kit (at their respective MSRP prices). But I digress, this controller is still a solid one for PC gaming. If you can find this on sale & don't mind having to either shell out a bit more for batteries or a proper charging kit, you can do a lot worse than this. If you find an older One controller for significantly cheaper, I low-key doubt you'd miss the textured grip & triggers that overly much. Overall, I'd grade this a 3.5/5 mostly out of spite for the battery situation, though I'll spite my spite & round the score up to a 4/5 for today.

I recently got my hands on the Microsoft Xbox Wireless Controller, and I’ve gotta say, it’s a solid piece of controller! The design feels great—comfortable grip, responsive buttons, and textured triggers make long gaming sessions easy. What really stands out is its versatility. This thing works seamlessly across so many devices: Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Windows PCs, Android, iOS, and some smart TVs. Pairing it via Bluetooth or Xbox Wireless is a straightforward, and I love that I can switch between my console, phone, and laptop without missing or dropping anything. The battery life (with the AA batteries or optional rechargeable pack) is decent, lasting through marathon gaming. My only gripe is the lack of a built-in rechargeable battery in the base model, but overall, it’s a reliable, cross-compatible champ that’s tough to beat for the price

This controller works great!! I had an issue with my old controller with stick drift and decided to get a new one and was not disappointed. If I had a complaint it would be the batteries die fairly often I don’t know if that’s an issue with all Xbox controllers or just my experience. overall I’m very happy with my purchase!

XBOX controller 2020 version. I changed my mouse to a G502 to get a sniper button. It was like the G900 I also use so easy to make the change. Now I looked at my XBOX controller. Is the newer version better? What can you say about a controller that seems so unchanged? Plenty more than I thought. The size is inconsequentially smaller. You’ll forget it ten minutes into a game as the usefulness takes over. What could be more useful on this thing? The four-position rocker is now a CIRCULAR affair verses a STAR shaped affair. That’s not really the big deal. What is, is the FEEL of the rocker is now much, much more precise and give great tactile feedback in long game sessions. Play RDR2? Ya, you know what I mean when you use this feature over and over. The shoulder switches also are improved inside. The FEEL is again way better, with a positive CLICK. This isn’t as pronounces as the 4-way toggle, but it is still better. The controller has much better texture on the surface for better GRIP in gaming. This seems superfluous but it isn’t if you play more than an hour. It really helps in fighting games like Devil May Cry series or the Shadow of Mordor series where stuff is quick and tactical feel is important. The trigger’s are a different but inconsequential shape change and more same, same. No real detriment that they stayed near the same. Feel and precision isn’t different to me in use. That’s good as it was OK before. The added screen picture button is place below the other two standard buttons, so if it is of use great. If not, no harm no foul. The new button isn’t in the way but it is easy to get to if you use the screen capture feature. The finish is now a matte color in black verses a more shiny surface. Just different. Joy sticks seem identical with the anemic center press “click” being the worst tactile feel of all switches but...you get used to it. So that's it. More than I expected and they did make it better without messing something up that was working. That’s not actually hard to do, break what seemed OK before. They took a risk and it worked. The changes aren’t a revelation, but they are satisfying.
