Yes you can remap those buttons to any other but the controller will not save it unless you reconfigure a and b to the directonal pad.

Microsoft put a lot of R&D into the development of this controller's form factor and it shows. I like how it feels in the hand, and the new "share" button is nice for sharing screenshots with friends online.
