My only complaint is that it can't use the rechargable battery because of the unique design.

We're glad that you're enjoying your new Xbox wireless controller for the most part. If you're using a Xbox Play & Charge Kit for Xbox One, you may use the same rechargeable battery but will need to use a standard USB-C to USB-A cable with it. Otherwise, we recommend using the Xbox Rechargeable Battery and USB-C Cable for Xbox Series X/S.

There are definitely subtle improvements from the previous model, like the micro textured grips on the handles and thumb pads.
