The grips are textured, but it's still molded plastic. It's lightweight but the materials used to produced it are not made to last forever. It is not uncommon to go through several controllers like this if you're particularly hard on your gaming and use it often. That aside, I would recommend it over the Elite version simply because it is easily replaceable if lost, damaged or stolen.

Microsoft needs to give Two remotes with console purchase, every other type game console comes with Two. Give back to those that buy your Products.
