The only other thing different is the usb recharge port is now a c type instead of the micro and the d pad is slightly differently designed.

If this is the case, then get the otterbox shell. The two make a perfect controller, IMO.

Very small differences generation to generation

Between my son and I we have had 4-6 controllers in the past 2 years develop stick drift relatively quickly just from normal usage.

Also the batteries have a ridiculous drain speed. And its very expensive for something that is a requirement.
