Turns out, he doesn’t play games in the iPad that need this. Instead, he uses it to play games on his laptop.

As of this writing though the latest iOS version 14.4 doesn't support it in any way that I can use it. I can't fault the controller though as it works well for my PC. I plugged it in and updated the firmware without issue and it plays well on titles that I'd prefer a gamepad for. It feels solid in the hand and the triggers, buttons, etc. are a nice update from my old Madcatz Xbox 360 wired controller that I will now remit to backup duty.
