The grips are textured, but it's still molded plastic. It's lightweight but the materials used to produced it are not made to last forever. It is not uncommon to go through several controllers like this if you're particularly hard on your gaming and use it often. That aside, I would recommend it over the Elite version simply because it is easily replaceable if lost, damaged or stolen.

We're sorry there's an issue using your new Xbox wireless controller with Windows 10 PC through Bluetooth. If you are still experiencing this issue please ensure you have the latest service update for Windows. You can find available Windows updates by going to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for Updates on your Windows 10 PC. In some cases, there may be a button that says “View optional updates”, and you may be required to click there to find the update.
Once that is complete you will also need to make sure the controller firmware is up to date by checking for additional updates within the Xbox Accessories app. If you continue to experience a problem, please check with our team at Xbox Support for assistance here: https://support.xbox.com/en-US/help/hardware-network/controller/wireless-controller-solution

I paid $40 extra for an upgraded new controller and warranty and this controller started lagging already. It’s so hard to get good products along with good customer service, everything is about an up-sale instead of integrity and culpability from the start.
