The bottom end of the remote has a 3.5 mm headphone jack which allows you to plug in a headset and listen to the gameplay. This is very beneficial if you play late at night and don't want to wake the rest of the family. It does use 2 AA batteries but there are battery packs that are sold for this controller even at Amazon.

You will occasionally get a dud (Rare), but it happens. You cannot find a product made by man that doesn't fit that description. Bought it for my wife.

Time will tell if the thumb sticks hold up to an 8 year old. Only con I for sure can say is I was a little disappointed that the new style does not allow for the previous style rechargeable battery to fit with the cover. Can still fit the battery itself, but the protective cover (that came with the rechargeable batt) has different clips. Oh well. Still rather use it than replacing AA every few weeks.

I bought this controller to use with my windows 10 laptop and steam games. I put the batteries in, turned the controller on, and paired it with my laptop like any other bluetooth device. I fired up steam and steam immediately recognized the controller and applied the settings to the games I tried it on, killer 7 and Star Wars Pod Racer game.
