Customers are saying
Customers enjoy the engaging gameplay, compelling story, and innovative Nemesis System in Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor. Many also praise the game's beautiful open world and responsive controls. However, some players find the difficulty challenging, and a few note limited replayability after completing the main story. The game's strengths clearly outweigh its weaknesses for most players.

Surprise Hit.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I preordered this game based on the assassins creed comparisons as AC is one of my favorite franchises. Set in the LoTR universe with AC comparisons, shadow of mordor is a must play game. SoM offers something new with the nemesis system, a fantastic tool in unique story building. I would recommend this game to everyone looking for a cool action game.

Great and Fun!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Feels like an assassin's creed game set in Mordor. It's about a 20 hour play through. Fun game with simple controls. Very pretty game

A great spin off from Lord of the rings
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great game but can be repetitive at times but the gameplay is still fun regardless. Looking for a possible part 2 or similar title. I'm very happy with the purchase.

Arkham & AC & LoTR = Shadows of Mordor
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are a fan of the open world action genre (think the Arkham line of Batman games) then this game is for you! Chopping down hordes of disgustingly ugly orcs and uruks feels responsive, crunchy and viscerally satisfying. The animations are smooth and stunningly realistc, with several special attacks and executions unlockable as you advance in experience and power. Ranged attacks are possible with the wraith bow (complete with the bullet-time like Wraith Focus) and stealth assassinations and terrifying brutalize attacks are possible with the dagger. The voice acting is incredibly well-done and deeply varied; it's interesting just to listen to petty bickering and boasting of Sauron's twisted minions. In addition there is a rewarding nemesis-type system where, if you are killed by any given orc or uruk then he is promoted to a captain's rank and when you next encounter him he will be powerful and even have personalized taunts relating to your last encounter. I found many times that I would cross the whole of Mordor just to deliver vengeance on an orc that killed me. This game is an absolute must-play from 2014 which was largely a pretty lean year for top-line games. Get this game and let the ugly orc heads fly!

Really great game with minor flaws
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is chunked full of content and fun. The fighting is fluid and takes some practice to master. The only downside is that it's a bit repetitive. Now, go slay some orcs!

Shadow of Mordor is a great game with few flaws
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have thoroughly enjoyed Shadow of Mordor, As it is the type of game that really is satisfying when you complete a great combo. As an action game it is fantastic. The Story, is a little convoluted, but provides a very interesting dynamic about the characters. The Nemesis system is awesome, as I am always looking for a nemesis instead of continuing to play through the story and this has extended my play through. My issues with the game are minor, but I hope they address them in the future. 1) The feedback in the controller is not very strong. For example, when I play Ryse (similar fighting mechanics) When you go through your combo, you feel like every single hit matters as your controller vibrates based on the power of the hit. Shadow of Mordor for some reason only vibrates slightly which sort of feels anticlimactic when you see this amazing combo play out. 2) Wish there was CO-OP. If you have never played Lord of the Rings the two towers on Xbox or Gamecube, you are missing out on the best co op fighting game I have ever played. The way that each character had specialty moves that you upgraded, and the fighting styles were all satisfying, I was really hoping this game would be able to do that. If they could play that game again and take the good ideas from that game, and make a solid sequel with all of these improvements I would give this game 5 STARS! As far as if you should buy this game, YES you should! You do not need to be a Tolkein fan, the story is interesting either way. Happy Gaming!

Open World Middle Earth!!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Awesome game. Playing it right now in fact! The combat is like the Batman Arkham games with more focus on positioning and climbing is a lot like Assassin's Creed. It's just simply fun to go around and fight. Lots of things to discover and lore to find. But I am not a super huge fan of LOTR so I'm not sure what's actually canon.

Great game with interesting nemesis system
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Surprisingly great licensed game with elements of assassins creed and the batman arkham games. The gameplay is familiar but is given a fresh look by the nemesis system. I love how individual encounters with different orcs and uruks lead to personalized rivalries and adds to the need to kill your way up the Uruk hierarchy.
