Customers are saying
Customers enjoy the engaging gameplay, compelling story, and innovative Nemesis System in Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor. Many also praise the game's beautiful open world and responsive controls. However, some players find the difficulty challenging, and a few note limited replayability after completing the main story. The game's strengths clearly outweigh its weaknesses for most players.

Great Game
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great Game to play for only 19.99. Story was ok, but the gameplay is great. Style is nice and smooth. Wish it came with dlc already installed.

Great game, fun to play
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I believe this is probably one of the few good games available on PS4 right now. It is very enjoyable, and includes a fun story. I would say the story could be better but it is hands down the best lotr games to date. It is similar in gameplay to Assassins Creed and the Arkham series.

Stellar Experience
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was hoping this game would be as good as it was advertised, but I was wrong; it was better! The game play is super smooth, and the 1080p graphics are spectacular. I really enjoy the fact that the fighting is challenging and you do not always come out on top. The added element of Uruks upgrading after a defeat is a key aspect to this game. There are so many side missions and add-ons that you will be kept busy for hours. My advice when you sit down to play this game is to make sure you have plenty of time, because you play 3 hours and it feels like 5 minutes. Really great experience, I hope there are sequels to come.

Surprisingly Fun
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I didn't expect much when I picked this game up. So when I played it, I was pleasantly surprised. Shadow of Mordor has awesome gameplay that is a mix of everything that was great in the Assassin's Creed series and Batman Arkham series, while adding it's own twist to it. The melee combat is satisfying and those gruesome finishers are a blast! Pick this game up and you'll be glad you did.

Familiar gameplay...in a good way
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The game's premise is a little weak, especially for LOTR fanatics, however the storytelling is good it manages to puts instantly put you into the Tolkien universe. The combat system is a page, or chapter rather from the Batman Arkham series, down to the actions mapped to the same buttons. There is some originality added, including sets of skill trees for the character, and weapons that have some very cool abilities. Which are obtained in the usual way, killing bad guys, including higher ranked enemies. Which by the way, the Nemesis system is a great idea, and really makes you feel like you're in a living breathing world. Basically the bad guys can achieve rank promotions by killing you or each other, which occurs periodically. Stealth mode is similar to the Batman games. The towers that can be used as fast travel points felt very Assassin's Creed-esque, he in fact scales walls just like (if not better than) an Assassin.

Love it, best Lord of ring game out there
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Yes it's assassin creed based in middle earth and the controls are a little off but nothing to worry about. Good story, lots to do and fun to boot. I really hope they make a second one

Assassins Creed but...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is literally Assassins Creed, but with elements of the Batman Arkham series. But that isn't necessarily a bad thing; it takes the great aspects of each series and mixes them with the lore from Middle Earth. All in all, I'd give it a 4/5 and recommend it to fans of third person action games and fans of Lord of the Rings.

Excellent Fun!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Really great fun. As The Verge noted, the player takes on the role of a sort of Jack Bauer of Middle-Earth, using violence and 'enhanced interrogation' techniques to conduct an insurgency against Sauron's forces. It works on every level. Combat is engaging, fluid and deep (very reminiscent of the Batman: Arkham series) while the upgrade/ RPG element interesting but mostly invisible. My only quibble: many tutorials near the start end up being long on-screen text windows. It's really a quibble. This is Batman: Arkham meets Assassin's Creed in Middle-Earth: play it, you owe it to yourself.

The best of many worlds
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While many could consider elements of this game borrowed from other sources, it's hard to argue with their fantastic execution. If you've ever played a Batman Arkham or Assassin's Creed game, you'll feel right at home in Shadow of Mordor's sandbox. While the story is adequate (except for the ending#, the real joy comes in manipulating the hierarchy of the orc army to serve your own purposes #or just to see what happens). While some of the mechanics may be similar to other games, Shadow of Mordor has enough new ideas and gameplay systems of it's own to more than justify it's existence.

Sleeper Hit of the Year
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is amazing. The Nemesis system is incredible. Shaka the Terrible is the thorn in my side. He killed me 10 mins into the game and has been a nuisance ever since. Now he is lvl 20. I've scarred up his face real nice, and he couldn't wait to tell me about it. We have clashed so many times now that it feels personal. This game makes winning and losing battles actually have a meaning. Every clash with a Captain feels personal and will impact the world around you.
