The gameplay mechanics obviously borrow heavily from games like Assassin's Creed and Batman, but it manages not to get stale, or at least it hasn't yet. Granted, there are a few abilities you can unlock that are so overpowered they could end up breaking the game, but I don't mind having the option to slaughter huge hordes of orcs if I choose to. You don't have to unlock those abilities if you don't want them. At any rate, I have found the game incredibly addicting and ended up purchasing it as a gift for my brother as well.

The game starts out fun but quickly devolves into an Assassin's Creed ripoff. Battles are a little exciting because they can be challenging with the amount of enemies on the screen. The story is pretty good but I just lost interest in the game after a few hours with it. The map isn't that big and there is no real variety - just the same forge tower (eagle's nest in AC) and the same enemies you have to sneak around. If you haven't played Assassin's Creed I guess this game wouldn't be boring but otherwise I'd stay away until it drops down to the $10-20 range.

Better story than assassin creed, very similar gameplay, repetitive missions and areas of the world. Over all good game would be 5 star if there was more exploring involved not pointless relics.

Cant knock the story and detail within the game. The side quests are enjoyable although short. Not too long as you may be able to complete the majority within a week, overall good play through!

This is by far one of the best games released for 2014. It combines elements of Assasin's Creed, Unforgiven, along with an excellent story line into a consistent blend of game play that will have you hooked for days. I would recommend reading some online tips as there are some tricky parts. This is NOT a hack and slash game. If you just want to charge in and expect not to die over and over this is not your game. If you like awesome graphics and fighting system that is both intricate but enjoyable this is the game for you.

This new Lord of the Rings blew my mind as I could control dozens of orcs in mass battles that continue the story of Lord of The Rings.

The open world map has plenty to explore. Graphics on the Xbox One are great, and gameplay mechanics are easy to use and flow nicely.

Great game. Fighting and overall gameplay reminded me of assassins creed and the batman games. They got lazy with the ending though.

This is a great game. It is very fun and has amazing graphics. It also can be challenging, but if you play through the first part of the game just doing main missions it opens more advanced moves that make the extra stuff easier to complete. Overall it has been very enjoyable. I would definitely recommend it to any LOTR fan or action game fan.

The open world play, storyline and graphics are great but it seems a complicated at times. Very detailed and wide breadth of options, but I miss the straight forward mission play a little.

Open world game that has a story but also has a teir mode for the enemies that get promoted/demoted as time goes on and never ends.

I purchased this during black Friday, just because it was on sale. It had some decent reviews and let me tell ya..... this game is awesome. Only downside is dying, but you get used to it. Must have for Xbox one!

This may be the best game I ever played. Controls are easy to use. So many different ways to battle and play missions. It's very addicting. Bought it the day it came out and I'm still playjng it.

Best game of 2014! Top ten of all time. Makes the AI feel alive. If you enjoy the Batman: Arkham games as well as the Assassin's Creed series, then pick this one up. You will not be disappointed.

Very fun, Assassin's Creed style gameplay with a Lord of the Rings setting. Intriguing story and sick combos.
