Customers are saying

Customers value the engaging gameplay, compelling story, and innovative Nemesis System in Middle-earth: Shadow of War. Many also appreciate the game's substantial content and the option of a lower price point for an older title. While some found aspects repetitive, concerns were raised regarding the inclusion of in-game purchases. The action, difficulty progression, and open-world environment were also frequently praised.

Shadow of War is very similar to the first game (Shadow of Mordor) in terms of game play. So, if you like the first one that you'll like this one. However, there is no improvement in story telling

If you played the first one, then this game would just be a upgraded continuation. Great story, and vocal..."STRANGER!!" Never gets old. If this is your first time playing, don't worry about the first game, you can definitively pick up the story from the 2nd game.

While I have just started this game, it is right in league with the prior game, Shadows of Mordor. I like that your previous character, with some of the previous benefits you earned, are carried over into this game. So far I am liking this game and recommend it.

This is a great game and it had me completely hooked. I have completed the shadow of modor and was aching to kill some orcs and this game didn't disappoint me at all. The bad advertisement of using loot box was the downfall of this game and the developers completely removed the loot boxes now but there will be some long grind by end of the game. Having said that the amount of content this game offers for the price point of 7.5 usd it is a no brainer. Get the gold or deluxe edition if you got some more money to spend and based on its availability as it's sold for $15 a copy with added 20+ hours of contents.

This sequel does a much better job explaining the backstory of the first game as well and what was going on. The atmosphere is amazing. They have add d some really nice features in comparison to the first game. I very much liked this game, and definitely recommend it if you liked the first one.

What you'd expect if you played the first. Combat is the same. The fortress game play is fun. For a LoTR game, the story could have been a lot better. Thought this would have been fixed from the first game. Worth a buy if on sale.

First off this game is much like the original. The combat is basically the same but a big plus for me is that you get to fly a dragon. The story is kind of short and act 4 is a real grind to get the platinum trophy and real ending. If you liked the first game you will like this one.

The overall game is a huge improvement on the first of the series however them throwing in microtransactions in a single player game just doesn't sit well with me as the end game grind for the secret ending is annoying.

The games is loads of fun running around killing Uruk and whatnot, but the real meat and potatoes to this game is the Nemesis System that weaves dangerous encounters across the landscape, making the world seem alive with enemies that want you dead. The story is so-so, it’s really just a device to get players to new areas and fight other baddies. The Social Conquest Mode is great fun and has players invade each others fortress and take them over. There are micro transactions, but they aren’t crucial to your experience in the solo or asynchronous multiplayer mode.

Shadow of War refined elements of the original game to make an experience truly worth pushing off the things I should be doing now in real life for the gratification of building an army to capture orkish strongholds in the virtual world.

This game is huge. You play as a fallen ranger who is out to stop Sauron from regaining his power as well as his legendary black dragon riders. You’ll level up and gain new abilities along the way that are a real treat for action gamers. Tribes of Orcs and Uruk’Hai will fall to your will as you take them over and warp their minds to build your own army! Enemies remember you and will talk about your last meeting on precise ways. After you eliminate a tribe leader, you usurp their throne and control their whole group!

The Tolkien franchise keeps going with this game. Good improvement over the first Middle Earth game and lots of extra content to keep playing for hours on end.

The story is good and fits well into the LOTR genre. However, the ending of the story, even after the P2W loot box fix patch... is a bit hard to want to do. I put 40 hours in by the time I got into the final part of the game. This is the only bit where I think the design was just lazy. Somehow, somewhere, they could have introduced the sieging features somewhere into another act. Anyway, if you're looking for something to scratch the LOTR itch, it's a great option to do that. I played it mostly for that orc murdering. ORC MURDER SIMULATOR 2017, basically.
