Customers are saying

Customers value the engaging gameplay, compelling story, and innovative Nemesis System in Middle-earth: Shadow of War. Many also appreciate the game's substantial content and the option of a lower price point for an older title. While some found aspects repetitive, concerns were raised regarding the inclusion of in-game purchases. The action, difficulty progression, and open-world environment were also frequently praised.

Graphics are better than previous game. It was a little confusing at first, because it showed a cut scene that supposedly happened between the last game and this one - confusing though because it makes its seem like it is a review of what happened previously, and I didn't remember that from the last game.

This game was purchased as a Christmas gift which hasn't been opened yet, so can't review based upon play, but based on previous reviews I expect my son will love it as this is his genre. The price was great and it arrived as expected and on time which was quick. I have no complaints so far.

There are not too many reliable software developers out there but Monolith has been solid! Two superb games back to back! Shadow of War continues with a fantastic movie quality story line and excellent game play and graphics! Hours and hours of gameplay that never gets old. No issues to report with gameplay either. It's a fully developed game that you can sit and enjoy from beginning to end without feeling like you are either a Beta tester or will need to pay for expansion packs to have a full game. Just incredibly done! Thank you Monolith for providing the kind of entertainment that your competitors are light-years away from achieving!

This is not for children as some graphics can be pretty violent. But for adults who like the violence and kicking orcs butt should definitely try playing this game. It can be hard sometimes to beat these orcs but once you're geared up and go thru some challenges, you will feel pretty mighty and godless at the end of the game.

I played shadow of mordor and like the style of Middle Earth game. I didn't pre-order it and waited till I watched my friend playing it. I went to Best Buy and grabbed the game immediately after. Kind of regretting I didn't pre-order it because missing the legendary Orcs pack. Lot of funs

If you are a fan of the first game or Lord of the Rings you will absolutely enjoy this game. If you are follower of the gaming industry and know about the big issue right now with loot boxes and the like then you might not want to get this game because it has those. Other than that I have no complaints about this game.

If you enjoyed the original you will enjoy this game tenfold. This version builds upon itself and adds great variance and exapnds on the original games greatest srength. The game looks especially crispy on the PS4. Story is decent, but not revolutionary. Personally, I came for the combat and I was not disappointed!

Shadow of Mordor was pretty good, but I couldn’t seem to find a ton of interest in it, it got old kinda fast in my opinion. But Shadow of War is so much fun! It’s way bigger than the first one and the RPG system makes it even better. Definitely a Game of the Year in my book!

I was very impressed with the first one, but was dissapointed to reach maximum level and not able to make my character stronger. This game is much bigger and more of what you loved from the first one. Even if you never played the first one, this one is highly recommended.

This game is a great game. The pay to win factor is non-existent since many times *spoiler* the orcs you buy can betray you! *end spoiler* The game can get grindy but it is a vast improvement on the first. I only wish you could bring orcs from different regions together.

I don’t usually buy games when they first come out, let alone preordering, but I loved Shadow of Mordor so I took a chance on Shadow of War. It’s one of the best games I’ve ever played with a captivating storyline. I highly recommend to anyone who likes Lord of the Rings.

If you liked the first one, this expands on that in every way. If you haven't played the first one, do that before getting this game for the backstory. Or if you just care about gameplay, then you can jump on in. Don't worry about the microtransactions, just skip them.

Shadow of war improves over the first game. The campaign is longer and map is huge. There's a ton of stuff to do. You can build your own army to fight along with you. They also have online missions and battles. If you liked shadow of mordor you'll love shadow of war.

The best thing about this series of games is the fluid and changing status of Orc domination and control that is the Nemesis system. Dying and restarting is handled unlike any other video game, where the character is actually revived and unable to truly die. Instead of restarting from a previous save, the world goes on and the orc that killed you gets promoted and becomes stronger. There are RPG-style elements where you get skill points to spend on different abilities that can change gameplay in fun ways. I feel like there isn't as much story and narrative in this sequel, and that is disappointing for me, because I thought it was done well in the first game.

I'm enjoying it, just as I did the first one. Yes, it can get repetitive, but the orcs have more character, and the missions are short and engaging. The story-line seems incidental to the game-play, however. The main characters are merely caricatures, and the plot gets in the way of chopping up orcs.

This game plays very similar to the previous one, but it's bigger and expanded in every way. If you're up for another open world game with Batman style combat and plenty of activities to do, this will satisfy you. I give it a 4 because I am getting open world fatigue, but it's still a good game.
