Midland products have always provided good value and function for me regardless of what I have purchased. I especially like the orange face plate, helps them stand out for better locate ability.

So the range is 2miles give or take but definitely not 28 miles. Other than that within the 2 miles they are a good 2 way radio.

Posted .Range will be relative to line of sight, terrain, and obstructions. Range will be better in rural areas than urban areas because of less interference. The radios are rated as "Up to 28 miles" and can be achieved across open water, flat desert, or mountain top to mountain top.

I plan on letting my kid nephews play with it. Tried using it in the city and didn't really work even if I was only 4 blocks away.

We did Have a hard time opening the battery compartment and put the belt clip on one and couldn't get it off. Did try them out and they seemed to work fine but didn't use them enough to give any more info.

But be realistic with range expectations at this price point. As with all two way radios, environmental obstructions will affect range. Well built and usb charging is a nice feature.
