Posted .The range is relative to the obstacles around you. On an open field, or water the range is greater.
Urban development may reduce the range to 2 miles or less. If you are in a tall building the range is about 20 floors.

Posted .There are many factors that go into the range. Line of site, hills, interference from power lines other radio bands etc. If you have any issues Midland support is available at 816-241-8500 M-F 8am-4:30pm CT.

Don't buy unless you are looking for somethingcheap for the kids. 5 year dropped it like crazy so it's only positive comment is that it is durable.
