My nine year old loves it (maybe too much), and it does require planning and strategy. There are books available to help one on their Minecraft journey. I think it's an acceptable way for a child to pass one's time. It's certainly not to be dismissed as a waste of time.

Grandson loves Minecraft

A Blast Reduced by Switch Limitations

Unfortunately, the Switch version is always the one to have technical / network issues. I would not buy this if you want to play four-player split-screen. These are console-related issues though, you know what you're getting if you played Minecraft before. The Mario-themed world is huge, and the music is awesome.

It's minecraft on Switch!

I love my Switch and thought it would be a perfect place for Minecraft. If you like Minecraft and want to be able to play on the go- this is perfect. It comes with the Super Mario world mash up which is pretty cool, and there are a bunch of additional themed worlds you can purchase. Also comes with several skins- and you can crossplay with players on Xbox and PC (windows only).

After installing be sure to update the game to the latest version. Hours of fun and controls are easy to navigate. Gameplay on switch is comparable to other consoles.
