I bought two Shines for my wife and I. I thought that they looked cool and liked the fact since it is waterproof. We paddleboard in the summer months so we figured this product would work well in that environment. I loaded the application and wore the Shine for two day and nights. I quickly found that even though I put it into "sleep" mode at night it didn't track correctly. For instance, I was up and down throughout the night to use the bathroom and to take our dog outside. When I synced the data to my iPhone it appeared that I flatlined through the night. It didn't show my movements during those hours. I found the application to be severely lacking. It didn't have a thorough breakdown of activity (steps, distance, calories, etc). I think the product could be really good if they fine tuned it and the application. I'm not sure if the Shine is limited due to its construction or merely the application. Needless to so I returned both of the Shines and am now evaluating other devices that have better tracking capabilities as good software applications. The Shine may look cool, but it they need to polish it to really make it SHINE! Good Luck with you tracking search.

Very easy to use. I have only used it for running/walking but have noticed that the data varies even when doing the same exercise for the same amount of time. The calorie count, mile traveled and time doesn't match my treadmill. Not sure which is correct.

Despite promises by the company to fix glitches for android users it has yet to follow up. The product was interesting to me as it was one of the only such trackers that was compatible with water and I had really looked forward to having it. But after random data loss and a myraid of android compatibility issues I had to return the product.

isn't always easy to get to sync, the auto sync feature doesn't always connect. Tracking my movement is painless as it should be, but it does seem that sometimes when i know I have moved quite a bit, it didn't always record it.

I wear this in my water aerobics class. I always wondered how many steps info during class so now I know. It makes me very aware when I am not doing enough during the day.

I've only had it for a couple of weeks and have already lost it 2 times when it came out of the band unknowingly. The last time it took me 5 days to find it!

Returned this item. Very hard to see in daylight, very hard to double tap for the time, info seemed to be spotty when synced with bluetooth.

Easy to use tracker. Be careful of strong magnetic. I shut in car door when I had attached to my pocket. Case has a big dent but still works!!

Elegant design with useful function. If you don't care about Fitbits ecosystem and just like the design of the product, I'm with you here. ;)

I am not, by any means, a wellness guru. I don't like raw vegetables. I can't run a mile. I'm just a chubby 26-year-old woman with the metabolism of a dying sloth who is taking small steps on a journey of self-improvement. In the simplest terms possible, I am keeping a closer eye on my daily healthfulness by tracking my calories and trying to be moderately active. Since I work a thrilling desk job as a customer service representative, I wanted an uncomplicated device to track my movement and allow me to maintain a minimal level of exertion throughout the day. I also, frankly, didn't want a piece of plastic on my wrist that screamed 'HI EVERYBODY I'M TRACKING MY MEDIOCRE LEVEL OF FITNESS!!!" I did a lot of research on the Misfit Shine -- like probably a little TOO much research -- before I finally purchased it a few weeks ago. I was nervous about it being "waterproof;" nervous that it wouldn't be worth the sixty dollars I'd paid for it; and nervous that I would lose interest or hate the way it looked/felt/worked and not want to use it. Two weeks in, all of my worries are, so far, unfounded. Aesthetically, the Shine is minimalist and elegant -- I purchased accessories to make it look more glamorous for work, but even the black sports band looks beautiful. I feel stylish and important when I tap my Shine to get the time or check my steps. It's so comfortable that I don't pay any attention to it when I don't need to, and it hasn't impeded my sleeping at all. The app is moderately intuitive and easy to use. The Shine syncs to my iPhone automatically when I open the app with the phone in my left hand [I almost always wear the Shine on my left wrist like a watch], and after a few seconds everything is updated. I don't bother with the food tracking app, but MyFitnessPal syncs to Misfit automatically - and vice versa. I can't tell you how nervous I was to get my Shine wet, but I have had absolutely no problems wearing it in the pool/shower or just having it on when I do dishes. You do, however, need to make sure you put the Shine together properly - if it's not closed all the way, the electrical parts inside will be susceptible to water, and it's definitely not waterproof in there. My complaints about the Shine are truly minimal. I wish it were better at counting my steps when I'm holding something in that hand, and I wished that activity tracking worked for yoga and dance (as of now, you can add those activities manually but not track them). In a perfect world, I'd love for it to have vibration to wake me noiselessly from sleep or alert me when I've been inactive for too long. All of the other bells and whistles in some fitness trackers and apps I truly do not miss. To summarize: the Shine is gorgeous, cost-effective, and gets all the basics right. It's comfortable enough that you can wear it all the time, and cool-looking enough that you'll probably want to. Treat it well and you shouldn't have any problems with it; if you find your sports band isn't good at keeping your Shine in place [I've had absolutely zero problems with this], then for goodness' sake, get a different band.

It's not highly accurate or detailed in information, but for a first tracker to count steps and my sleep patterns I love it.

The hardware is gorgeous and the ability to wear it on your wrist, as a watch (kind of), as a necklace (I don't), our clip it anywhere puts this activity tracker well above the rest. The iOS app is pretty good but the Android app has a lot to desire.

I was in the market for a a fitness watch and after many months of doing research I decided to get this based on the price. I bought 3 of them for me and my family and I was not impressed. They would not even track steps accurately, and if it can't do that then it's useless since everything else is based off that data. Waste of money and time, would not purchase from them ever again.
