Nice Concept. Flawed Engineering and Software
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This product has a nice aesthetic design and is very lite and slim. Unfortunately the wrist bands (Both leather and rubber), that holds the activity monitor is very poorly designed and does not securely contain the device. When I was running cross country, the activity monitor fell out of the band somewhere along the route. I back tracked and was unable to find it. So I was out $100.00 and left with an empty wrist band. The iPhone software is very weak and limited in function. If you are serious about buying this device I highly recommend downloading the free misfit app and check out the functions for yourself. You will have to sign up for an account which is also free but it's worth trying before buying. Bottom line: If you avoid any vigorous exercise and don't mind a very limited data set offered by the software, then this may be for you. I ended up buying the fitbit force which is a much better option for me and my level of activity and offers plenty of data for exercise, sleep and diet.

Everything you need in a fitness tracker
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This device is so much more versatile than other fitness trackers. You can wear with the wristband, clip it to your clothing, or simply put it in your pocket. It tells steps and tracks sleep. The best part about the sleep tracking is that you don't have to put it in any kind of sleep mode. This is also a very stylish tracker.

An attractive package, so so execution
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's a great idea - a pedometer that looks like jewelry instead of, well, a pedometer. That it's so versatile and waterproofed for swimming is even better. In real life the execution is a bit off - tricky to assemble the battery cover, and two watch bands had a tendency to fall off leading ultimately to landing on the garage floor and going under a car. :( I wish the execution were better because I really want to like the Shine. A simple device with basic time telling is all many people need/want, and it looks real neat. Another quibble is at this price point there are trackers that start to include some basic smartwatch functionality - at least caller ID, calendar and text notifications, etc. Misfit is more attractive to wear than Striiv, Fitbit, etc., but the limited functionality changes the equation.

Love my Shine
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love that this is battery operated and that I don't need to charge it. No cords to keep track of - easy to sync. Really interesting to track my sleep - don't even notice I'm wearing it at night. Tracking my daily activity is a great motivator to set and exceed goals.

Guaranteed to be lost.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a cool idea, small compact and full of options. BUT, you will lose it. Its a guarantee. I have purchased 2 of these and lost them both. The band is terribly designed and the shine will fall out. Just a matter of time. Also, the sleep tracker is nearly useless as it will only track 1 sleep cycle per 24 hours. Other than that, its ok. But keep it in your pocket or your gonna be out of good hard earned money.

LOVE IT!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love how thin and light weight my shine is. I usually forget I'm wearing it. I usually wear it on my wrist, but it also can be clipped to a shirt or bra strap. It tracks my activity and sleep with great accuracy. Extremely user friendly free app (apple & android) lets me check my stats, change goals or settings easily at any time. The fun stylish colors and sleek design are perfect for both men and women.

Great design, just poor execution
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've tried many health trackers out there on the market: the Fitbit Flex, Jawbone UP 24, and the Misfit Shine. I love wearing the Misfit Shine the best out of the other two and best of all loved the fact I didn't have to have another device to charge. But at the end of the day, the rubber sport-band made me nervous that over time and doing exercise with it, that the Shine would eventually fall out and be lost. You can feel the shine jiggle in the Sport Band. After a few days, it's very easy to pop out once the rubber has been stretched enough. They say the leather band accessory is a lot more secure - but I don't want to spend $40 on an accessory band in leather that will not be comfortable to wear while out on an hour long run - nor can that be worn in water. I prefered the App design over FitBit and Jawbone a lot. The auto-sleep tracking is neat when it works. But if you are somewhat stationary watching television on a couch before bed-time, it will think you're asleep. I also got up one morning and had gone downstairs, taken several steps, and it thought I was still asleep (maybe I was dreaming?) I think a V2 of this device where the Misfit can be inserted into the band (similar to the FitBit Flex) would be a great idea. Also - you can forget being able to see the LED's while out in the sun (unless you cover up the Misfit with your hand).

Beautiful exterior, but performance simply sucks.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros: Looks great Low profile design Cons: Gets out of sync with actual time (shows sleep during the day and exercise at night) Sometimes erases hours of workout (will show zero workout level when I've been moving considerably the entire time). Doesn't track all sleep. Typically only records about 50% of my sleep. Lost device while wearing as proscribed. Tiny installed user base (none of my 400 FB friends use one) so miss out on friendly competition experience Needs to be right next to phone to sync. Display rarely works. Usually either shows no activity, or only about 50% of actual workout level. After syncing shows actual level, but then what's the point of the display?

Great motivator
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The shine is great, the app is simple, and if you need some extra motivation to get moving the LEDs which show you what portion of you activity goal you have left can really help. Also no need to charge/recharge, just replace the battery every 3-4 months, and the app lets you know when the battery is getting low.

Not ready for prime time
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm still on the fence after having one for 4 weeks. No crashes yet. I like the circle of LEDs for telling time and measuring % of daily goal. Getting it to work with MyFitnessPal was easy. It's not perfected technology -- mistook my applause at a live show for vigorous bicycling, even though I disabled the triple-tap-to-start-an-activity feature. Tech support said I could correct the activity after synching, but only until midnight. After that you cannot edit anything, which I find unnecessarily restrictive. Before you synch for the day, the default screen on the Android app (v. 0.17.0) displays a rather creepy, oiled, petite, plastic-looking boy-model who's also on the box. Can't get rid of the diminutive imp. I detest it so much I avoid synching. "Over-marketing!" Its size is such that it looks like a woman's watch, even on my skinny wrists.

I love this activity tracker!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Misfit Shine is a stylish and accurate activity tracker. It has helped on giving me motivation to loose weight and stay active. You can adjust the goals depending how are you want to make to achieve those goals. Different activities such as running and biking give you more points than walking. The sleep tracker is also excellent. I noticed I was getting enough deep sleep so I adjusted my sleep schedule. I would definitely recommend this product!!

Love this gadget!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the shine simply because I needed to use a gift card. But I completely fell in love with it. Not only does it help keep me motivated, but the shine app that works with it helps me push to reach my goals. The best part is... I'm loosing weight! Aha. I love this gadget. It's easy to use and it's really cool looking too. The only thing I dislike about it is that it doesn't come with a rechargeable battery. But other than that, the Shine is awesome!

Poor Design
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The product and the concept itself is good. I don't have others to compare it to. I did like the fact it tracked steps and activity. My biggest complaint is that this disc fits into a rubber bracelet (or a magnetic clip for your pants or shirt) with a very thin band to hold in place. You also have the option to purchase other accessory holders such as a necklace. My biggest concern came true when one day I looked down it was gone. I searched my gym bag, my car, and my home but no luck. It was lost. This was a Christmas gift and was very disappointed. The design to hold this compared to Fitbits and Garmin has a lot to be desired. Garmin has a locking wristband.

Great till I lost it
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really enjoyed using it till it fell off the holder in the middle of a store and not able to get it back. I had been using it every day, tracking steps, sleep and enjoyed the app. I don't like to use it you need to buy different holders for it.

three quit working, avoid
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have bought 3 of these in t he last year, 1 for my wife. One fell out of the flimsy band, a common complaint, I got smart and used a little scotch tape on the next one. We loved them when they work, they have both quit for no good reason, they have new batteries and that did not help. Mine quit recording sleep data a couple months before it quit totally, I did not care. Then it started going to sleep when I was active and not recording anything, usually starting at noon for some reason, now totally dead

Falls out of Wrist Band - Very easily lost
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I actually enjoyed having this device. I like the styling and I did not experience any of the technical problems others have. However, this product comes with a rubber sports band that is insecure. After having the product for one month, it had popped out of the sports band numerous times and eventually I lost it altogether. I contacted Misfit customer service and let them know of my experience. To their credit, they initially offered to replace the device. However, after being missing for about a week, my wife found the device in our closet among the shoes. I told them that a replacement was not necessary as the device had been found, however, given that the poor design of the sports band would likely lead to the device being lost again, I instead asked for a different band (which sells for about $50). At this point, their offer changed. Now, instead of being willing to replace an $80 device, they offered me a discount to purchase a different band. Honestly, I found this to be a bit insulting. Given that the product is too easily lost coupled with my experience with Misfit customer support, I cannot recommend this product.
