San Diego Studios Is Failing MLB Fans

As an overall title, the 'MLB: The Show' series itself is a very good product with the potential to be the preeminent sports game of it's generation. Great fluidity in it's gameplay; gorgeous to look at; ballparks are intricately detailed; and it's easy to get the hang of and play rightaway. Granted, individual players' faces can be pretty wonky, sharing only a slight resemblance to their real life counterparts. However, it's also the most frustrating and enraging sports game I've encountered in a very long time— to the point of it now ruining my game playing experience. The bugs and glitches in this year's game have piled too high for me right now, and San Diego Studios' dereliction of duty in response to fixing it is non-existent. It's now made this game unplayable. For example: Outfielders routinely miss fly balls and commit too many errors when you're standing in the area on the field you're supposed to be standing inside of in order to make the catch. There's nothing more infuriating than running to the highlighted area of the field it's telling you to reach in order to make the catch for fly ball outs, only to have the ball go over their heads or drop to the sides of them anyway. Oh, and we're not done here either. No sir. Faaaar from it in fact because, San Diego Studios takes their failure and ineptitude up a notch by your outfielder not being able to pick up balls that are on the ground. You have to stand over the ball completely still for a brief second before he'll bend over to pick it up. Keep in mind the fact that while you're having to do all this in the outfield, the base runner is going flat out and never stops or hesitates as he's increasing his momentum while you're having to carefully and slowly massage the ball back into your glove. These glitches aren't just limited to fielders alone. Another enraging trait this game has is your base runners will just stop running halfway down the base path on their way towards the next base. This increases the amount of double plays you'll be hitting into since you never realize until it's much too late that the guys you assumed would either be tagging up or returning to their bases have instead just stopped dead in their tracks for no reason, and the fielders need only reach out and tag you for double plays. There's also a disproportionate amount of outs you'll to suffer from being picked-off by the Pitcher and First Baseman. I've also noticed homeruns are much higher than ever before too. It's sort of a 'feast or famine' outcome in at-bats. The amount of good 'ol fashioned line drives for extra bases that stay inside the park is decreased; along with bloop hit RBI that fall in the shallow part of the outfield having become virtually non-existent too. I'm sure there are even more examples I'm forgetting, but I think you get the idea here. The bottom line is that even though the potential is still there for MLB: The Show to become a leading sports video game annually, the flaws that are not only unbearable and piled too high to ignore, but which are also going unnoticed and not responded to make MLB 20: The Show a failure on San Diego Studios' behalf we must not overlook or ignore. They must be held responsible for this product malfunctioning the way it currently is.

Buy this if you don’t mind completely wasting your time. Other than that, pretty good game
