Customers are saying

Customers are satisfied with the Beam Premium Indoor/Outdoor HDTV Antenna's reception and picture quality, frequently praising its ease of installation and attractive design. Many appreciate the improved channel count it provides, although some experienced issues with signal strength and found the antenna to be larger than expected. A few customers felt the price was high relative to performance. Overall, the positive feedback on reception and picture quality outweighs the negative comments.

MOHU BEAM PREMIUM INDOOR / OUTDOOR AMPLIFIED HDTV ANTENNA LOCATION LOCATION: Pleasant surprise. This Mohu might be the digital antenna I’ve been looking for. I’ve been explaining to my wife for several years now that we were not located where we could easily get local Austin digital broadcasts without a roof antenna. Antennaweb.org agrees with my evaluation, suggesting we need a rooftop, directional antenna to receive our 7 local stations and their numerous digital channels. We’re not too far away, just topographically challenged, sitting on the wrong side of a hill amongst too many stone and brick homes, all taller than ours. Although I’ve gotten digital TV signals with other antenna solutions, they were pixelated on every channel, quickly ending the viewing session out of frustration. It’s why cable and satellite were invented. APPEARANCE: This new Mohu is a simply styled, black 5” x 23” by 1/2” plastic rectangle with a metal center disk with logo. Connections are made around back but the cable can be directed down or straight back. Out of the box, you need only connect the stabilizer foot for desk top/shelf mounting or a metal clip for wall hanging. The small, USB powered (included small brick) amplifier is already wired. This amplifier connects directly to the antenna at one end and to your TV antenna input, with or without the additional antenna coax cables (2, 10ft and 6ft). The instructions are simple and easy to understand. It’s also xnice that MOHU includes all the connectors and cables you might need Go to your TV’s local channel setup and do an auto scan. You’re going to find some channels. MY SETUP is fairly simple because my TV is located where the MOHU can “see” windows, not that this mattered for most of the previous competition. These windows face the general direction of the station antennas. This time around, I pulled in all but one of my area stations. One of those I pulled in occasionally pixellated. This was definitely a better result for my troublesome location. And, I have yet to optimize the antenna location. It can be placed higher, especially with the included cable, and closer to the windows, so I’m going to do a bit more work. RECOMMENDATION: Antenna reception isn’t magical even if it can be mysterious. The signal origin has to be close enough for you to receive it, not obstructed, and not subjected to too many reflections. Buildings, mountains, trees or atmospheric conditions can create sustained or seasonal problems. Most of us are close enough to get digital signals, and the MOHU has proven to be a better solution than most of the others I’ve tried. It seems that I have sufficient TV signal bouncing around, and the MOHU amplifier/antenna combination succeeds at delivering it to my TV. It might also work for you.

To be honest its useless. Only a few channels come up. And the quality is not good. I guess it depends on your location but it does not worth it..

Did not pull in CBS. Most channels received were poor quality and not at all clear. Not even as good as rabbit ears antenna.

Maybe it's my location, but I've tried at least 4 digital antennas and can only get 3 channels, and then it's spotty. Disappointing!!!

DESIGN: The Mohu Beam Premium is the first of it's kind that has a soundbar like design in contrast to window sticking leaf or wave like directional types. According to the instructions, the Mohu Beam can be mounted in the attic, interior or on the outside siding -- the ideal location for my house's setup is the living room media table. The shape and size may not be for everyone since it is long and somewhat bulky --- the reason I am unable to place it closer by the window. It does have a multi or omni directional design which is a big plus. PERFORMANCE: I have used a leaf like amplified antenna that attaches to my living room window and the signal strength on that is pretty good -- the Moho being further away from the window, I expected a dramatic decrease in reception, but was presently surprised at how strong the reception still is. The most difficult over the air channels to pull in are some local NYC Asian channels like Sinovision and KMBC -- the Mohu is able garner a 66%-73% signal strength according to my television, which is a lot better than I could have hoped. At that signal level the picture and audio is decently stable -- picture won't cut out but sometimes the audio does. My previous amplified antennas also had a challenge being able to pull in these channels well so this is a plus for my household. Channels such as PBS, CBS or NBC are getting about 100% signal from the Mohu -- which is no less impressive being that the antenna is located well inside my living room. Picture and audio quality are crystal clear with zero lag or added pixelation. FINAL: The Mohu Beam Premium is a surprisingly strong performing antenna and I strongly believe the Mohu Beam Premium could perform even better with an attic or outside mounting setup -- something I unfortunately cannot do with my current house's configuration. I am able to pull in some foreign channels well that I found difficult with previous antennas -- a big win. The omni directional design is nice albeit having a big footprint and taking up a decent amount of wall space. I am content with the Mohu Beam and recommend for others to give it a try at least. Your house's location, design and build type will probably influence your results so everyone's opinion may differ.

We don't watch a lot of TV in our house so, because satellite TV was so expensive and we got lousy reception, we got rid of it. However, after this winter, we wanted something to be able to get local channels for the news and weather. I was looking for an indoor antenna and tried this. I went to their website and yes, we should get reception. What I discovered is that if you have a sense of fun, you can get the family involved in finding the best place for this while at the same time, getting the kids to do the work climbing up and down to see where it may get the best reception. It took us a bit but we finally got reception. Now, one reason for getting rid if satellite is that the reception at our house can be lousy at times but so far, when we want to watch, we are getting the channels. We had to work for a couple of them but given I would have been happy if we would get at least one, I'm thrilled.
