More channels with this antenna
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This antenna is bigger and bulkier than my previous antenna. However, I'm able to get more channels and a better reception. I guess the larger size is worth it. There are various ways to mount the antenna. You can mount it on an interior wall, exterior wall, or attic. You can mount it near your TV like a soundbar. It also comes with a removal kickstand that can be used to prop the antenna on a TV stand or table. In order to use the antenna, I had to use the included signal booster. The booster requires power. You can use the USB port on your TV for power. If your TV does not have a USB port or it's currently being used by another device, you will have to use the included power brick and plug it into an outlet.

|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.MOHU BEAM PREMIUM INDOOR / OUTDOOR AMPLIFIED HDTV ANTENNA I’m one of many that have happily cut the cable cord! I’ve been using a non-powered, paper thin indoor antenna that I have tucked behind my TV’. I’m located about only 10 miles from NYC, so the signal for most channels comes in pretty good. This Mohu Beam is an indoor/outdoor antenna powered antenna. I was very curious to see how this would stack up to what I’ve been using. The box contains everything you need to get started, a USB cable that connects the antenna to an available USB port for power, a power block in case you don’t have a USB port, RG6 cable, and misc hardware for mounting or sending upright. The antenna is nicely designed it looks like a flat sound bar. My TV is located on an outside wall, there are 2 windows about 3 feet away on either side. With the Mohu antenna positioned behind my TV, the TV was able to pull back 39 channels. This compares to 47 channels that my existing antenna was able to recognize. I was surprised, I would’ve expected or hope the Mohu would be able to find as much or more then my current non-powered antenna. To be sure, I ran the auto program again. Both times, Mohu 39, existing antenna 47. I then placed the Mohu on the window and ran the search, this time it found 49 channels. I did the same with my existing antenna and it also brought back 49 channels. The video quality of the channels are pretty much the same with both antennas. Many channels that came up are not HD, so it looked bad with both antennas. Many channels are 720 and a few 1080i. Those looked great with both antenna’s. Overall, for me, this antenna didn’t prove to be much better then the other paper thin non-powered antenna I already have. Perhaps it’s because I’m so close to the stations, the Mohu is advertised as a 50 mile antenna. I’m guessing I’m about 10 miles away, so both antenna’s work fine for me. If you live further away form broadcasting signals and need the range, go ahead and give this antenna a shot. If you’re close by to broadcasting signals, then save your money.

Great signal pickup; Large, bulky, showy device!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Understanding that this is an indoor/outdoor combo antenna, I went into this thinking that keeping this inside, hidden behind my TV in the entertainment center was going to be a challenge... Nothing prepared me for the thick, chunky body of a beast this thing was... But for good reason... I wasn't ready for the device to be a decorative element to my home entertainment system - Most antennae are not meant to be seen at all and this one works on the wall or on the house outside. I'm not sure the materials speak to the living room decor they're trying to become a part of, as the plastics are cheap and the seams not cleanly cut, but the device is certainly light enough to wall mount and its dark grey/silver color matches with most home entertainment equipment, a la sound bars, receivers, etc. The signal pickup was excellent but users should check with their local broadcast stations as to whether they are still broadcasting on QAM bands - Many TV stations are quitting broadcast altogether (My local FOX affiliate and NBC have stopped, leaving me in an ABC/CBS only mode... The reason I bring this up is that no matter what the antenna, if you require a major network for entertainment, ensure that it hasn't left digital broadcasting... This seems to tell of a future where the local networks don't exist anymore and the broadcast affiliates are just local news affiliates for streaming or cable networks. Often these antennae are advertised as "replace cable with THIS!" and in my case that just can't happen and its no fault of the device... Check your local broadcast specs before buying!

Indoors good!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I tried a couple of these indoor antennas and so far, this is the one that's most functional. It has a good design and quality so I don't mind it so much that it's another piece of clutter around my TV. It picks up signal better than other smaller ones I've tried but it still struggles a bit on HD channels. I ended up having to wire it across the roon, under rugs to place it by a window so that it gets the most signal. In that position, it works perfectly fine. This is a good product if you want to cut the cord and not mind having a wired thing dangling from your TV onto a position somewhere by your closest window.

Better than my previous Antenna
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I own a very good antenna already, and I had the chance to try the Mohu Beam. This antenna outperforms my current $180 one in many ways. First, I have 3 more channels! Second, better sound quality and no sound lag. And finally, much better HD quality. Mounting is super simple and sets flat on the wall behind my TV, no one knows it's there. Hook up is simple as well, plug, plug and go! If you are looking for a great, cost friendly antenna, grab the Mohu Beam!

|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I live in a fringe area that gets very little OTA signals. We have a public agency transponder that is very outdated, but they still manage to air CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX, 4 Digital PBS stations, KTLA and a few other locals. I'm able to receive those signals via a roof mounted UHF/VHF antenna. I wanted to see what this could do, but unfortunately for me, the unit was unable to pick up a single signal inside the house. From my house to the transponder is about 19 miles as the crow flies, so it should have received a signal from some of the stations, even if it was a weak signal. So for me, the unit is a failure. That said, I think this unit would be great in an area with lots of OTA signals, say the San Bernardino/Los Angeles Basin. I plan on returning to that area some time soon and I'll be keeping this unit in storage until then. I gave the unit a 3 because I didn't want to give it a one. Again I think it should work well given a different environment. It is a bummer that I didn't get it to work. I will be trying a few different configurations with it before I box it up. I think it's one of those items that if it fails to work for you, it's a one and if it works, it's a five.

Not the prettiest, but works great.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pro: -Multiple way to mount -Comes with all accessories you need -Indoor or outdoor Con: -Bulky -Kind of ugly Clear picture and consistent signal strength. I’m able to get 21 local channels. OTA antenna can vary a lot depending location and placement, so it’s never perfect. While this model didn’t perform better nor worse than the square flat antenna I have in the other room, this one has multiple placement options making it easier to find a place for it and a cleaner look. It can be mounted flush against the wall or you can attach a small stand on the back. The manual say it can be mounted in the attic or on your siding, but I didn’t have the need to. In the box, it includes everything you need. It comes with the mounting screws and attachments, the leg stand, a 6 ft and a 10 ft coaxial cable, a coupler, a right angle for the cable (which you need if you use the stand), and the usb power adapter for the amp. It’s minor, but what I don’t really like is the aesthetics. While it feels sturdy and strong, it looks like it belongs outdoor, which is understandable since it’s an indoor/outdoor antenna. It feels like hollow aluminium that you would use to trim the windows and siding. It has a speckled rough grey color that doesn’t fit in with the rest of my other equipment. It’s also a bit on the bulky side, being about 2 ft wide. Other than aesthetics, I don’t have any other complaints.

Easily the best antenna I have in my house
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I typically use smaller cheap antennas and just hope for the best. I play around with them and settle for whatever channels they happen to pickup. So I decided to check out the Mohu antenna, which is not super high end but not a cheap one either. Once I got it I noticed that it was USB powered/amplified. This is a huge plus! I do not need to take up another receptacle outlet to power yet another device in my home theater setup. I just used an existing USB port on my TV (it has two). This may be an issue for anyone who is using their USB port for a firestick or other add-on so it also includes a USB power adapter to plug in to a standard receptacle. So I had it setup in a matter of less than 5 minutes and ran the channel scan. I did not set it up in a particularly high spot at first. After it ran the scan it found more channels than any other antenna in my house. I then moved it to a better coverage area and re-ran the scan. It found more channels and I was very pleased. I have 2 TVs with cable but the rest of my TVs in my house use regular antennas. I use this in my basement which is a rec room and will be perfect for watching my local sports. I no longer have to fight with my old antenna to catch my local channels to find the game. I am very excited to use this antenna in my basement and it should work well for anyone else's application. I love it.

Solid signal quality
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Our local over-the-air antennas are located approximately 12-15 miles from my home over fairly flat terrain. The Mohu indoor powered antenna improved the quality and choices for over-the-air but, to be honest, I didn't care about the additional channels it found (i.e. MyTV, CW, etc.). The goal was a stronger antenna for local stations whenever cable or internet is out. When it comes to signal strength and quality, I actually enjoy watching NBC via antenna over cable because the picture is better. Pixelization (freezing boxes on the screen) is minimal for the major networks. The antenna is "stylish" from the standpoint that it isn't rabbit ears. It from the user standpoint, it is all plastic. It comes with a SINGLE leg to prop it on a flat surface as well as a set of screws and simple wall mount kit if you want to "mount it like a soundbar" (as the manufacturer suggests). [I will likely mount mine, but won't be proudly displaying it was they do in their pictures. For now, it is on a stand as is my tv.] The kit comes with a couple piece of coax cable, a right-angle connector and a threaded connector to join two pieces of coax. There is more than enough cable provided unless you plan on mounting the antenna 15'+ away from the TV input. Additionally there is a power source with a detachable USB-to-wall adapter. This is nice as I choose to power my antenna via my TV's USB port rather than an outlet. Overall this is a stylish, simple antenna that works well for me, giving a crisp, seldom disrupted picture for the major "over-the-air" networks.

Once you use it, you will start to think to cut yo
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So, I wasnt a truly believer of interior TV antenna, the tower is really far from where I live (more than 50 miles), and there are mountains all the way. Not even with an old exterior antenna that was already in my home when I bought it, I was able to catch TV channels. I think one of the features that helps a lot to this Mohu Antenna is the pull up signal or amplifier that comes with this Antenna. First at all, it is a good looking antenna, if you have your TV installed on the wall, you can install the antenna above your TV hanging on the wall, and it will match very nice. The antenna comes with everything you need to do the installation, very easy to set up, and the Amp use a USB connector that you can use with a AC adapter that is included, or you can connect ir to the USB port of your TV. It comes also with the brackets for hanging on the wall, 2 coaxial cables (6 and 10ft) 2 coaxial couplers, one regular and one L shape, and a Antenna stand. I highly recomend to use the coaxial cables that comes with this set, for some reason, when I used other coaxial cables that I had, I lost 2 or 3 channels. But when I returned t So, from no signals that my TV was capturing, now I have 20 channels, very clear, and they are digital channels. My TV is a Sony 4k and the quality of the channels is really good. I can see Fox and Telemundo crystal clear. To Recap, Super Easy to install, design and color that match with any TV. All channels were crystal clear in high definition.

Just What I Needed
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Having an antenna that worked most of the time except during rainy season, I was not expecting this antenna to solve my problem. I just thought it would act just like the others I had tried before, especially because I didn’t want to install an antenna outside the house. The surprise came when I tried this Mohu Beam today while it was raining (I live in Oregon). The existing antenna was receiving very pixelated images and choppy sound, ruining my experience. But this Mohu solved that issue immediately. Both images and sound were clear even in high definition. Not only that. I had channels that I couldn’t watch before and now I can. I love it. The only downside is that for internal use, it is not as elegant as the leaf type, but I was able to easily place it out of site. It comes with a coupler and 2 cables that give flexibility to place the antenna farther away from the TV if necessary. It is not too heavy either. It’s actually lighter than a square type I had before. The fact that it works at any position is a great feature because when used internally, it is difficult to find the perfect location. With this, there is no wrong position.

Semi-Helpful for Cord Cutters
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was so hoping to like & enjoy this antenna, especially after reading about other Mohu products. We cut the cord & the outrageous monthly expense of cable TV several months ago and searched online for economic hacks. We tried a couple options with decent results. By attaching an unplugged extension cord plug to the end of the coaxial cable, we were able to receive several over-the-air (OTA) digital stations. We also tried attaching opened paperclips to the coaxial copper core & taping it in a window sill, which also allowed us to view some OTA channels. I was expecting the Mohu to give better results. Setup & installation is a snap. All the items needed are included in the box: Antenna, 10 ft. & 6 ft. Coaxial Cables, Coax Coupler, Mounting Hardware, Instruction Manual. The antenna is multi-directional; so, according to the directions, there is no need to point it in any particular direction. However, I found profound differences in the number of channels detected with each configuration I tested. So, direction AND orientation are both critical to the process. My TV sits in front of a large picture window at the front of the house with no immediate obstructions outside (trees/shrubs). When I placed the antenna in front & below the TV like a soundbar, as suggested on the box, the Mohu was unable to scan even a single channel, whereas my paperclip configuration received 11 channels. After that complete fail, I began the tedious process of moving the antenna & aiming it in every imaginable direction (behind the TV, turned backwards on the window sill, facing left & right on the sill, elevated on a cardboard box on the window sill-left to right, etc.). After each new placement I re-scanned for channels. Although it showed 14-20 channels on avg., most of those channels weren't viewable, or they appeared clear, only to digitize after a few seconds. I finally dragged the antenna, cable & “power injector” to a side window & plugged it in. Technically, this resulted in more scanned channels. However, most of the new channels found, digitized & weren't viewable after a few seconds. It also didn’t detect even the basic local Fox network affiliate. In the end, the Mohu did detect a few more channels, albeit obscure ones, than my paperclip hack, but I’m not impressed enough to recommend the product. I prefer a minimalist look to the clutter of the Mohu setup, which only would’ve been worthwhile if it had detected a fair number of channels. I’ll probably return to my hacked version as I’ve no interest in the few extra channels found, like: Grit, Bounce, Ion, Me, Charge! & Comet, etc

Great reception
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When HD over the air was new I needed to put a fancy antenna on the top of my house because the signal was so week. I was happy to find that this small unit gives great reception without the need for the external antenna. This was easy to set up and use.

This is great for cutting the cable
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I live outside of a metro area and I had difficulty receiving local HD channels with some lower quality products. I can receive a strong signal and very nice pictures in HD with this antenna. The setup is simple and this is powered to help amplify the signal. The amplification makes all the difference in the world when one lives outside of a metropolitan area. If you want to cut the cable bill and are happy with local channels, give this a try. The quality is very good. I also appreciate the looks, as it has the appearance of a soundbar. I have mine in a window behind my television rather than in front of the monitor. It works well in either position. If you have any issues with signal, moving it even slightly can bring a signal into range. Keep moving it around until you find the optimal signal.

Great Reception
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this Mohu antenna because although I already had an exterior digital antenna mounted on my detached garage I didn't want to run another cable for it to another room with my second TV. So this was my solution to get this Mohu and use it indoors. It has definitely exceeded my expectations. I mounted it on an interior inner wall and I'm getting the same number of stations (25) as the antenna mounted on my garage roof! If you're not already using a digital antenna I highly recommend this one. If you haven't tried over the air digital tv you'll be amazed at the number and variety of stations available and the quality of the signal/picture. It's excellent.

Good looking and works great
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have this hooked up to a TV in my workshop where it would be difficult to run a wired connection. Installation was quick and painless and included everything to either have a free standing or wall mounted setup. My old antenna gave me about 15 channels that would occasionally drop based on if the weather was bad or the shop door was closed. Now I have over 45 channels and nothing has dropped even in bad weather or the door closed!

Free HDTV
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I don't want to turn this into a comparison, but I need to set some background so you understand how awesome the Beam is. I picked up the Beam to use at a second house that is closer to the broadcast towers. Given we haven't closed on the second house, I needed to use it at our real house for the review. At home, I have a Mohu Sky 60 mounted on the roof which gets incredible signal. With major channels and sub-channels I get 92 different stations. Some of these are completely worthless, not that's what we'll use for comparison. The Beam is ... sexy. There's no way I'd mount the Sky indoor. The Beam will look at home inside. Mount it on a wall, or place it on your entertainment center - no problem. So how does it perform? As I mentioned before the Sky 60 gets 90+ channels/sub-channels. It's mounted on my roof with clear view to Chicago - about 30 miles away. My expectations for the Beam were pretty low. I wasn't going to mount it on the roof, so I didn't expect it to match the Sky 60. When I installed it on my entertainment center, I picked up 10 channels. Honestly, more than expected given how far away I am from the broadcast towers. But, I moved it to the front window and picked up 32 stations. This is from an antenna that could be mistaken for a center channel speaker. Put a frame around it and some pictures of the kids and nobody would know the difference. How good would it be if I moved it to the attic or swapped it with my Sky 60? If you live closer to the broadcast antennas, the better this will perform. If you're on the outskirts, you might want to look at something a bit larger. But, if you're within 20 miles this would be perfect.
