Customers are saying

Customers are satisfied with the Beam Premium Indoor/Outdoor HDTV Antenna's reception and picture quality, frequently praising its ease of installation and attractive design. Many appreciate the improved channel count it provides, although some experienced issues with signal strength and found the antenna to be larger than expected. A few customers felt the price was high relative to performance. Overall, the positive feedback on reception and picture quality outweighs the negative comments.

Pretty basic and simple to install. Works as it should and is super thin. Comes with everything you need minus a level and stud finder. Would probably mount on the wall with just Velcro or double-sided tape also since it's so light. I was able to power mine up with the USB port on my TV but if you don't have one you can also plug it into an outlet with the suppled adapter. Not much else to say here really, but it does work great.

    Works Great

Setup was extremely easy. The antenna looks good and isn't awkward in the slightest. The channels come in great and clear with no pixelation or sound break-ups. I've tried a handful of different antennas and this one was absolutely worth it.

The Mohu Beam antenna is small, very thin and light. It should be easy to mount just about anywhere and it is indoor / outdoor. It comes with mounting hardware and a little plastic stand that hooks into the back if you would like to set it on a cabinet or shelf. I live in a suburb in the mid-west in a medium-large TV market which has 7 or so over the air DTV channels. I did a performance comparison against a directional amplified antenna that I have mounted in the attic. To be fair I have to mention that the Mohu antenna was tested on the main floor in a bedroom so it was at a disadvantage in that respect. I connected both to the same TV and ran the auto channel scan. The Mohu detected and added 5 (main plus sub-channels) while the other antenna only detected 4. There were 2 channels that I expected to see but neither antenna detected or received a signal. It was late evening and I believe signal strength can vary depending on the time of day so that might have been a factor. I also checked the signal strength and both were pretty comparable for the channels that they both receive. The biggest difference is that the Mohu is probably a third of the size and a fraction of the weight of the one I compared against. With that in mind I would say for the size it is very impressive.

    Better than your average antenna

I'm replacing an antenna that I've had for about 5 years with the Mohu. I can say that I can get a few more stations with the Mohu, and I don't have to have wire rabbit-ears extended in the window any more. Overall, this is definitely an upgrade. My only criticisms of the Mohu have to do with construction. While it is a sleek design, the material used looks more like a grey shingle than electronics. This would help to hide it if installed outside, but also makes it look very rough if you have it inside along side other electronics. Depending on how you install the antenna, this isn't much of an issue. If you are installing it on a wall, be warned that it is possible for the coax cable connection on the antenna to be out of line with the opening in the ring on the back for hanging the antenna and allowing the cable to pass through. This is easily worked around, however, as you can see two black screws on the back of this ring which affix it to the antenna. You can easily take out these screws to move the ring, attach the coax cable, then reattach the ring (if this instruction is unclear, it will be clear when you see the back of the antenna).

    My SRS-XB31's BFF!

About a month ago, I received the SONY SRS-XB31 from Best Buy. I was no stranger to wireless speakers, having previously purchased similar devices from a couple of high-end manufacturers. However, I was immediately smitten with the SONY SRS-XB31 model, and the features it offered. Given the damp climate I live in, combined with my tendency to leave things out on the deck, the "waterproof" feature was a real plus. The long battery life was of course a welcome feature. But, what really impressed me was the Wireless Party Chain and Speaker Add Function. The capability to listen to the music throughout the house and outdoors convinced me that I wanted to acquire additional units. So, just a few days ago, I received the SRS-X41 in the mail, which is now the crown jewel of my SONY wireless speaker collection. The sound is excellent, the fact that I can now listen to the SRS-XB31 in another room simultaneously? Let's just say that I'm a convert, and look forward to adding additional units for use throughout the house.

Mohu is the best of the short to intermediate range antenna brands. Works as well as my leaf (50+). Mounted indoors brings in channels about 35 miles. Also has outdoor mounting option (much more work).

Easy to hook up - but not the best solution!

The Mohu Beam Indoor/Outdoor Amplified HDTV Antenna is very easy to hook up. It has a more modern slim design like a sound bar. I am able to get about 25 channels with the antenna but only a handful are crisp HD quality. This doesn't seem to do anything that a less expensive antenna does. I have tried this antenna both indoors and outdoors.

Nice antenna. Much better than my old rabbit ears. If you're reasonably close to the city and don't like to pay for tv (like me) then this may be the answer. I got it to use outdoors but it works well enough indoors so I'm using it indoors for now. Comes with a ten foot cable and six foot cable and some connectors too. Easy to install.

    Only works outside

Purchased this antenna to see what we could get over the air vs. ATT U-verse. Was disappointed that the antenna will not find or receive any of the local channels with the antenna placed at various locations inside the house. Home is typical stick and brick construction. I had a 100 Ft piece of coax so I tried putting the antenna outside my front door. Playing with direction orientation, I was able to receive 23 local channels/sub-channels. Disappointed that this was represented as an indoor antenna.

    Finally Free From Cable!

I got tired of paying so much money for cable tv service that I hardly use (just to watch local news) so I decided to cut the cord with cable and got this antenna. It works beautifully! I live in NYC (Brooklyn) and the picture quality from this antenna is almost just like HDTV on cable. I would highly recommend this antenna if you want to save tons of money on cable!

Cut basic cable in Sioux Falls, SD

Indoor antenna was set up today and we have the same channels we had with Midco basic cable. To do the set up you have to have the TV do the scanning of the channels by antenna. Cancelled our cable today after the TV was set up with the Mohu antenna. Thank you Mohu and Best Buy!

Works ok. Missing USB Power Adaptor

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Was excited to buy it. Open the box and the USB Power Adaptor was missing as if it was a returned item. The parts were laying loose in the box. I removed my RCA HD antenna and attached this Mohu. I do admit it was just a little stronger, but not the 50 miles it advertised. I really like Mohu products, so I was a little disappointed. Maybe I'm just upset, because all of the parts were not there.

Tried using this antenna on my TV and received zero channels, am sure some users have had no issues and some may have had issues with this. Tried on a couple of TV's and tried sveral areas in the room with no success. Hopefully others may have better success and may just be where I am located. I may have signal issues but does not mean otehrs will as see mixed Pro's and Con's

    Poor Performance

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

First, item description says 60 mile range but packaging says 50. Doesn't matter, it only found 12 of the 30 channels that I currently receive with my 20 mile range mohu that had become damaged. This was on sale so I bit. Returning it tomorrow. And yes, clear line of sight, no obstructions. Channels are all inside of 25 miles and used multiple antenna pointers which ended up pointing in the same directions as the one I was replacing.

Not a very good indoor antenna. Did not pick up many channels and were all pixelated. Not as good as the RCA amp antenna I got for less than 1/2 the price on the same TV at the same location.

Do not buy this worthless piece of rubbish. I regret buying this thing as much as I regret buying it from BestBuy. I should have tried to return it BEFORE the limited 15-day trial period. I'm never buying another Mohu product. Totally overrated. Next stop, Amazon.
