You need to place it next to a window or on the window so unless you want the cord to show you'll want to get cord covers to run along the wall. I found better reception on the wall next to the window then directly on the window.

No better no worse really

I'd give it 3.5 starts if I could. 4 would be misleading. It's just when you live in townhouse near a hospital and a lot of other tall buildings and trees, there's not much you can do. But I'd still say it's about average when you compare this product to others.
