First game I bought in years.

If you're new to this series, which basically launched a sub-genre: You will be hit with quite a few foreign concepts. But remember that in the end it boils down to [Hunt, get stronger, hunt even more. With others, if you'd like]. That combination of complexity, challenge, and simplicity is why it's among the best.
