When I first heard they were developing Mortal Kombat for the PS4, my mind immediately recalled the countless hours of my childhood spent learning all of the moves, combos, and fatalities of MK games of the past. I didn't want to get my hopes too high for this game imagining a number of ways in which the game could let me down. However, I'm so happy to report that the game met and exceeded this hardcore MK fan's expectations! The graphics, characters, variety of play (single-player and online) are all fantastic. If you're a fan of Mortal Kombat or fighting games in general, you won't be disappointed!

MORTAL KOMBAT X (MKX) is by far the best and most fluid fighter game on the next gen consoles. Graphics 10/10 controls have very few misses. The story is short and sweet and builds on MK9. I like the new living towers with hrlys dailys and weeklys. Also they added that when u complete a tower u can sent it to your friends and they have to try and beat your score. If you are a fan of mortal kombat and/or like the game play of injustice this game is worth picking up at full price. If you are on the fence pick it up !

I have been playing MK since I was a child on Playstation 2. Not only have the graphics improved but the fatalities have gotten far more cringeworthy. This game is fun and has unlimited replay value since it is a fighting game. The story was surprisingly cinematic and overall fun. The multiplayer is fun and it's always more satisfying when you pummel a real player compared to the AI. If you like fighting games I recommend this game. If you like MK this is a must buy.

Mortal Kombat X on PS4 Looks amazing! I have been playing the story mode and I have been enjoying getting to know all the new characters as well as relearning the old ones. The fatalities that I've seen so far have been crazy. I haven't tried online play yet so I can't comment on that but thus far I am really enjoying this game. If you are a Mortal Kombat fan or have been in the past you shouldn't miss this one!

This game has amazing graphics and is a fun throwback for people who have played old versions. This is a gruesome game (fatalities and the like) with exploding heads and broken spines but is really made for people who have played and loved the many characters (who all seem to show up in this version) over the years.

I've been playing Mortal Kombat games since the first one. I remember how shocked people were to see a video game so violent. It was great! In a fun way of course. At the time, no one thought MK was gonna last because of all of the protest against violent video games. Well here we are 25yrs after many sequels, 2 movies, a tv show and a web series. Mortal Kombat is back in 2015 stronger than ever. Amazing graphics, smooth gameplay, long term replayability, and so much gore at 60fps in 1080p. If you're a Mortal Kombat fan, you'll be pleased with this installment. The story is a bit shorter than the previous MK, but you'll get to see a lot of other familiar characters that are not yet playable. The ability to join a faction also adds a nice touch to MK that will inspire many more events and other fun challenges later down the road.

    Even Better than MK9

Mortal Kombat X takes what was good about MK9 and expands upon it. While I typically never cared about the "Story" mode in fighting games, this is probably the best story mode in any fighting game and I highly suggest you play it through. The gameplay is extremely fluid and the different fighting styles/special move sets available for each character really create a lot of diversity in the way you can use each character. Depending on how you prefer to fight, different styles will suit different players needs. The roster is also very large and the new characters are some of the best MK has added in a while. If i had a few complaints it would be that there is no Cyrax and there is not as many stages as I would like, but those do not detract from the overall greatness of the game. Also, the "Easy Fatalities" should never have been included. I personally have never and will never do an easy fatality because it takes away from the essence of performing the fatality. Despite the minor complaints I highly recommend this game for any MK fan.

This is by far the best Mortal Kombat in a long time. The graphics are great, the game modes are varied and plenty, and the fighting is superb. The fatalities and brutalities are gruesome and lots of fun. Couch co-op is a blast, and the online metagame is new and excited. Much better than the last MK!

I hadn't played any of the more recent Mortal Kombat games but after reading about it and seeing the previews I was intrigued. The game did not disappoint! Its got the classic characters you remember with new ones included. The game play is fast and the graphics on the next gen consoles is outrageously awesome. Its a great game to just pick up and play either alone or with someone. One of the better games I've played on the PS4!

The game has a lot of what I think has been missing in mortal kombat as of late but also brings in the high Def x-ray moves and gore that you'd expect from next Gen. The game itself is a lot of fun. The factions give it something to strive for, while the living towers constantly changing game play allows for players to try a number of fun mods to their matches. I'm hoping more characters drop later though.

The Fatalities are intense. Everything so far works. The game looks amazing every fight all the X-Ray combos. It makes sense. New characters and old keep this interesting. New stances and abilities. The game is a blast but definitely on the gory side which keeps true to the Mortal Kombat legacy which is great IMO of course. Buy it, but don't expect it to be something that it's not.

Game looks outstanding on the ps4. This is probably the best MK game in the series. Sure the character count is lower than MK9 but its still just as flushed out. Cancels frame data and all the standard fighting game fan fare is there. I haven't had a chance to play online yet so i won't comment on that but local is great. Game also includes a story mode like the last one which is a great addition. Fatalities and xrays are present just like MK9 but they have been racked up in detail and also Brutalities are back. Game is pretty much a love letter to the fans with all the detail. Only negative is micro transactions but its not too bad cause you don't have to participate in them if you choose not to. Would be nice to have a couple of the classic characters and be able to unlock them but it is what it is. Good game either way.

Mortal Kombat X is the 10th entry in the iconic fighting game series. The game features 24 new fighters at launch, with 8 being totally new fighters. That's pretty big considering the game series is renowned for its characters. Weirdly enough, the game actually omits Liu Kang, who was the series hero for 8 of the 10 games. The combat is pretty brutal, and the fatalities prove this game has worked hard to earn its M-rating. The issue with the game is product management. For reasons I won't understand, the game shipped incomplete. I had to download a 2GB patch when I got it, and that was to unlock Story and Online mode. That's ridiculous. Then, another patch came a few days later at 3GB. There are also a bunch of stuff yet to be released like Invasion mode, which is just odd to me that the game would be called done without those. Netherrealm has also done some shady stuff with DLC, allowing you to pay $5 for 30 "easy fatality" tokens, which are expendable. It's not necessary, but that's the point. Why even try to monetize something so trivial. Character DLC isn't cheap, at $30 for extra fighters, but it is the norm. I'd suggest waiting until the "Komplete Mortal Kombat X" comes out in a year or so. They always do, and they are always a better value.

Just when I thought Mortal Kombat couldn't take things any further... they brought this next installment out. Boy is it bloody but even more cringe worthy are the sounds of every trickle of blood hitting the floor and every bone breaking as you bludgeon your opponents. I'm all for the gore of this game but at its core, Mortal Kombat X is one of the deepest, well-balanced fighting game I have ever played. There is so much variety to every character and so many different modes of play that it will have you coming back to revisit when most of the other fighting games out there will be put down within a month or two of playing through it. This is an extremely worthy title entry into the legendary fighting franchise and should be picked up by anyone who wants to play a great fighting game.

Animations are smooth, providing gameplay that is difficult to get frustrated with when fighting against the CPU or a friend. X-Ray and fatalities are brutal as can be. New characters are fresh and welcome to the usual cast.

4.5 out of 5 This game is gory. This game is disgusting. This game will make you cringe. And that's awesome! My fiance is queasy, but she loves it just as much as I do! We play this together quite a lot and it's great to see how easily one can play it. There are so many modes and things to unlock, that it feels like we'll be playing for a long time. But here comes the negative part. It seems really awful that we have to either pay for a season pass or even pre-order the game to receive characters that should have been included in the game in the first place. Which they are! They only just unlock after paying a price or preordering for one specific character. I paid full price for a full game. No more DLC!

Great First Entry For Current Gen

Don't expect anything wildly new from this generation's entry into the series - MK9 did such a great job of reinvigorating the series that this time around seems like more of the same. This, however, is not a bad thing at all. The graphics are great, the story (while a bit obtuse) is entertaining, and the mechanics are still super reliable. This game adds three fighting styles to each character to spice things up a bit. Each style has a couple of combos/specials that are unique to that style, giving a lot more to master for each character. Some of the series mainstays are gone (Kabal, Shao Kahn, Shang Tsung) but some brand new characters replace them to soften the blow. They range from really cool to barely noticeable, but none are offensively bad. If you liked the last game, you'll love this one. If you hated the last game, you'll hate this one even more. Overall it's a lot of fun and has plenty of content to cover the $60 asking price and make up for some of the DLC practices employed by WB. 8/10
