As a former Samsung Gear 2 Neo owner, I have had almost 2 years of smartwatch use to have formed a kind of wish list of all the interface/equipment elements I would prefer. And, battery life aside, my flame orange (which I think is a very fun color) Moto 360 Sport hits them all. Oh, yes, the silicone is a bit of a lint magnet. But, it is soooo comfortable, and the silicone is key for that. I wouldn't change it. I have only been using this item for three days, and am still not fully versed in its every use, admittedly. I have taken one run with it, and found its tracking to be accurate enough. I am still awaiting delivery of BT headset, so cannot yet comment on onboard music function. Unless that totally tanks, I will maintain my 4-star rating. (...five stars if battery were not a daily charge) Please don't hesitate to purchase this watch.

A great fusion of fitness and smartwatch

I've used the the 1st Generation Moto 360 for quite some time and bought this mostly for running. I've found the watch GPS to be leaps and bounds better than my phone GPS. I'm in New York, so the tall buildings and interference tend to make GPS a little inaccurate. For instance, my phone will tend to over-count distance since the GPS will jump around a bit trying to reacquire position. This watch found a signal within 20 seconds (after the first time, since the first time you turn it on in a new area, it takes a little while for initial GPS acquisition, but not more than a minute) and never lost the signal throughout the run, even when running under bridges or scaffolding. The Moto Body app on the phone does a great job of storing all this information in a way you can review later, including route, pace, distance, etc. My only criticism is I wish it would sync with RunKeeper, because I have loads of data there from when I used to use my phone, and I would love to continue using it. The other nice thing is that the heart rate monitor appears to be accurately tracking my heart rate continuously during runs. I'm surprised because the heart rate monitor on the 1st generation Moto 360 was terrible. I had to be absolutely still for it take a reading and it still wasn't always accurate. This Moto 360 Sport heart rate monitor is way better. The wireless music storage is also nice, and 4 GB is actually plenty for me. I have a playlist that I use for half marathons and have plenty of room for that as well as two other playlists for other activities, and I still have a lot of room left. My concern is that transferring music from Google Play to the watch is sometimes hit or miss. If you buy all your music from Google, then you won't have any issues. But I've found that if you buy mp3's from other sources, sometimes it will sync with Google Play, and sometime it won't. I have know idea which ones do and which don't, so I don't know why it does that, but I suspect it has something to do with the DRM used in the music you purchase. If anyone has a solution to this, please let me know. Unfortunately, the only way I know of to sync music to the watch is via Google Play. Otherwise, once the music is on, it works great with my Bluetooth headphones. Now I can go running outside with just my watch and track GPS distance, pace, time, heart rate and have my playlists available! My only final criticism is that I wish the bands were replaceable with non-silicone rubber, for use when I'm not running. I love the watch for all it's notifications and Android Wear functionality, but I don't want to wear it to work because it's just doesn't seem appropriate. It looks like a fitness watch, which of course it is. If there was a way to change out the band to use a regular Moto 360 leather or metal band, that would be great. I'd love to be able to quick switch this between runs and work events. For the time being, I only use the Moto 360 Sport for the gym, running and during the weekends, keeping my Pebble Time Round with a steel band for work and work events. Either way, it's great for runners and fitness buffs, but it's tough to use this for more formal events even though the functionality is there.

Smart watch with the look of a regular digital

This watch is awesome. If you want a smart watch but want the passive look of a regular sport watch this is for you. People keep complaining about the battery being only 300. Everyone should know it lasts me a solid 15+ hours of regular use and I charge it at night. This includes a 2 hour gym session which included a 2 mile run. It does have a GPS and it works great. As long as you just turn it on when you run and turn it off when you finish youll have no worries. The only negative I have for this watch is the software which I'm sure will be updated with time. The moto body app on the watch is outstanding but it only really monitors runs on its own. If you go lift at the gym or something along those lines you'll need to use a app on your phone to assist you. For example Google fit. But if your at the gym having your phone close is probably already occurring so what's the big deal. Overall it's a great watch and a awesome product. If your worried about the band breaking buy the additional warranty. Some of these reviews make me wonder if they did the research before buying it. The only thing I cant talk about is the Bluetooth music because I still use my ipod. Buy the watch you won't regret it.

This watch is powered by Android Wear, which is basically the same on every watch, although this does have a GPS. On my watch I noticed that the pixels on the top left of the AnyLight Hybrid display acted a little wierd during animations, the watch is very comfortable to wear although it is a lint/dust magnet. It is IP67 dust and water resistant however so you could clean it off with water.

If you're into working out and to have a device with you that tracks every workout you do, this is the best one out yet. GPS, Moto app, battery could be better but, you have to consider, this watch has its own GPS so it will heat your battery emensely. But like I said, the best Android Wear Watch out right now.

    First smartwatch, pretty impressed

So I got this watch to pair with my Moto X Pure and I must say I am so far impressed. The coolest thing that got me was the Turn by Turn directions when i loaded the Maps app on my phone all directions were displayed on my wrist in real time which was amazing when i was driving as i do not have a cell phone mount it felt great to comfortably look at my wrist to see where my next turn was. The voice feature is pretty cool, i didnt know how useful it was until i was walking to my car this morning with my hands full. I was able to see my message with a turn of my wrist and replied simply by talking. The band is sooo soft and comfortable for all day wear but does attract alot of lint, nothing a quick wipe down wont fix. 299.99 is way to much for this watch, but the 199.99 seems about right which is what i payed since it was on sale. If your looking for a first time smart watch i would definitely reccomend this one. Even if you don't like it simply return it nuff said. Haha

Let me start out by saying I was a huge Moto fan. I've had no less than 6 Motorola phones and loved the direction they were taking with android. This review is not of the device but of the manufacturer and its first generation watch. I'm posting here so people will read it..... Sadly this will be the last moto product I purchase with my money. I have the 1st generation moto 360 and loved it. About a 2 months ago I noticed something. It would not reboot/boot unless it was on a charger. Since then its been not connecting to my phone(s) constantly and will reboot itself which is horrible because it would not finish the boot till I put it on a charger. Effectively making it a very pretty bracelet for the day..... This unit is out of warranty by 4 months (as of this week) and Moto's only answer is to "buy a new one". Which I kind of understand compared to the price of fixing it, but they offer no upgrade path for customers who already own a watch. I know this is tech and new tech at that but to only to last 16 months is ridiculous. This is not a software update issue this is a hardware issue according to Moto. I did not abuse this watch, I dont even wash my hands with it on..... Sorry Moto but Im done. I love the idea, the style, and the direction you are going but without quality hardware I can no longer support you.

    Way better than I expected

I've had this watch for a week so I've already had some time to truly think about the features and accuracy of this watch. I'm in the Army and do unit pt everyday so I wanted a gps watch to track my time/pace running and rucking along with how many calories I've burnt throughout the day. Let me tell you this watch is spot on! I compare the pace and length with my friends gps watches and they're the same. The gps feature takes about 5 seconds to lock on when I'm outside, which isn't long. The battery life is better than I expected with a watch with gps. I use gps for 30 min of running at 5am and still have juice left around 9pm. One of the best features of the watch is actually being able to read the screen in the middle of the day. The screen turns into an e-ink like display and is perfectly readable in the sun. My cons against the watch would be the dust magnet the silicone strap is but with time that slowly goes away, so it's not that big of a deal. If you're on the fence with this watch, buy it. You won't be disappointed. I was comparing this watch and the Garmin Vivoactive. I'm glad I went this route. I wouldn't even waste your time with more limited functionality gps watches like the Fitbit Surge.

First impressions were pretty good. Got it, charged it, set it up with my phone, selected a watch face -- good so far. Within 4 hours, the temperature stopped displaying. The error message instructed me to check that my phone location services were on. They were. The support website says to try power cycling the watch first then try resetting to factory settings, then re-install the android wear software on the phone. Tried them all at least 3 times without fixing anything. It would work for a short time but always stop. So, I gave up on the temperature displaying watch face. Then right after the return period was up, the vibration stopped working for alarms and for notifications. Then in a couple more days notifications just stopped going through. When I decided it wasn't worth all this trouble, I contacted Motorola customer service. They will not process a refund since I didn't buy it through Motorola. They told me to return it to Best Buy. However, Best Buy says that due to the terms of their contract with Motorola, Best Buy cannot process a return, exchange, repair, store credit, or help in any way. So my advice is to stay away from this watch and anything that would require you to contact Motorola customer service.

Good at most things, terrible for music playback

The product did most things a smartwatch is supposed to do. Notifications in a timely manner, allowed me to keep my phone in my pocket a lot of the time, and was very comfortable to wear. There were two main reasons i purchased this product through and neither of those lived up to my expectation. The first was that it had GPS. It did OK on this. I did a run on a route I have done many times and it was .1-.2 miles off. I realize a single test is not totally sufficient in this area; however it is worth mentioning. The second reason I purchased it was to listen to music while I ran. The process of loading music and pairing my headphones (Jaybird Freedom Sprint) was good. Playing the music was another story. It was unlistenably choppy unless i held my hands in front of my body. The bluetooth connectivity to the headphones was terrible.

Good unit but can't hold a Bluetooth connection

Note: I did not purchase this item from Best Buy but wanted to share my thoughts here as well as where I did buy it. This watch seemed to be exactly what I wanted to have GPS AND an MP3 player in one unit to listen wirelessly while running. After a lot of research and reading of reviews for all the current fitness/sport/onboard music and GPS/Bluetooth units, I am partial to the Motorola brand apparently. Set-up and compatibility with my phone (Motorola droid turbo 2) was good and it downloaded 2 updates within 4 hours. Transferred music fine. First run revealed the problem with the Bluetooth connection to the ear buds cutting out when moving my arm. The songs would cut in and out as my left arm ( with the watch attached) moved through normal motion. I purchased 2 different Bluetooth headsets and borrowed 1 other, ( $40- $179 sets just to mix it up). Same result to varying degrees but still unbelievably annoying! If I moved the watch to my right arm and angled the face to aim at my head/body instead of out like normal, the connection was reasonably stable but since I am right handed, that wasn't acceptable! Do they even test these things in real life? Now granted I am 6'3" with long arms but really? I purchased a competing product, the Samsung Gear Fit2 locally just to try and that did not have the Bluetooth issue but it doesn't have access the functions it should when accessing through it's app on a non-Samsung phone. The Motorola DID work fine when accessing using the Motowear app. This is going back and the search continues! Back to wired headphones to MP3 player and a Wrist GPS...

Not what I was expecting at all...

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Let me start by saying that this manufacturer has produced some of the best equipment I've ever owned, from radios, to analog /digital cellphones, and more recently wearables. In fact, I waited months to buy this device in hopes it would be the only gadget I'd carry with me while running or when going to the gym. Unfortunately, I guess I was expecting an updated MOTOACTV (a device I considered to be way ahead of its time when first released), and not just another notification/activity tracker/GPS like the hundreds you find on the store shelves these days. The main problem is that the 360 Sport falls somewhere between a common notification device and a true fitness/activity tracker unit. In other words, it's neither a beautiful wristwatch like the 360 (2nd generation), nor a dedicated/reliable running/fitness gadget like the MOTOACTV was. What I wanted was the 360 Sport to be the first Android Wear device to expand and improve on the MOTOACTV concept, but unfortunately that did not happen this time around. Perhaps some of the 360 Sport shortfalls can be fixed with software updates, but others might be there to stay. For example, why equip the 360 Sport with only 4GB of RAM when the MOTOACTV, which was released in 2011, had 8 or 16 GB? Keep in mind that 4GB of RAM means that you'll only have a fraction of that to store music. This probably means you'll have to bring another player (likely your expensive smartphone) with you while exercising, thereby making the 360 Sport essentially unnecessary. In addition to that shortcoming, ANT+ support appears to be non-existing, which seems rather silly considering what the 360 Sport is supposed to do. In summary, the 360 Sport is very comfortable to wear, has a GPS, and the screen is visible in daylight. Unfortunately, the 360 Sport does not appear to differentiate itself enough from other devices in the market today to bring significant benefits to me. At the very least, I feel RAM should be expanded (8 GB at least), support for external ANT+ devices should be added, and the software should be customized for a variety of sports activities (think MOTOACTV). I guess I'll wait for the 2nd generation of the 360 Sport.

Wanted this watch to work for me

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I so badly wanted this watch to work for me. GPS and Music in a standalone watch was all I wanted. Unfortunately, Android Wear isn't quite ready for the masses and the watch had too many shortcomings for me to keep it. The watch itself had much better battery life than what I was expecting after reading other reviews, but still pretty bad. I doubt one could run a Marathon with it. Run tracking was pretty good in general. Downloading music to the watch was extremely clunky and didn't work as stated, but once I figured out the correct pattern of taps, I could make it happen. The biggest reason why I am going to return this watch though is because it causes very extreme battery drain on my phone. The "eh, not bad, not great" watch performance coupled with the severe drain on the phone makes this product not nearly worth the $299 price tag. Looks like I'll be waiting another year or two for wearables to evolve...

Look I am not a runner. I don't ever intend to be a runner. This watch is for more than runners. I have had the Moto 360 (and 2nd gen) before and loved the way it looks and works, but in my job I cannot be worrying about it getting scratched up or scuffed up. So I would take it off when I had to do dirty work. This version of the Moto 360 is perfect (for me). I can keep it on all day without worrying about it and go straight to the gym or a walk with it. People forget to mention the display on this thing. The in direct sunlight effect that this has is amazing. It happens instantaneously! Yes the band is a lint magnet, and no you can't change the band. But it is comfortable all day long on my wrist and I don't have to worry about it getting ruined.
