    Great Tracfone BYOP Phone

Sick of the junk that Tracfone allows under it's main prepaid program, I started looking into phones that I could bring over by taking advantage of their BYOP program (Bring Your Own.. well, you get it). Rated very well by many sites, this guy was the winner on my shortlist. Good-sized screen, much faster than the pre-packaged Tracfones, and best of all, unlike an actual Tracfone that sticks you with whatever Android version they pre-loaded: you can download Android updates as soon as Motorola makes them available (currently this model is running the Android 5.1 Lollipop update, but Motorola assures us on their site that the Marshmallow update is in their plans for this phone, someday). Thankfully, I got the Moto G 2nd-gen on sale, but even at the new regular price, this is still worth it for someone like me trying to get around Tracfone's limited lineup.

Got more than I paid for

Got this phone for the current price of $99,99 and I don't believe there is a better phone out there for this price. I've been using this phone for 1 week now and like it so much I got one for the wife too. I got her's activated today and she absolutely loves it. This phone does everything it claims to do, so if you read a review that is somewhat negative, it's because the purchaser should not have bought the phone in the first place. In other words, the purchaser should have done a little research first. If you want a high spec., overpriced phone look elsewhere. If you want a very good phone at a great value, this is it.

Please be sure you have the SIM card fully clicked into place. If you are using a SIM card that was cut down from a larger card, we recommend contacting your carrier to obtain a proper micro SIM card, as cut SIMs can sometimes cause these issues, and can even cause damage to the SIM slot.MotorolaMobility

    Great phone for the money

I was using an iPhone 4s before getting this phone, and let me tell you this blows that away. Granted the iPhone was about 3 years old and had a cracked screen, but this phone is in a different level from that. For the price, I don't think you can do better. The screen is pretty great and while I'm certain it doesn't compete with phones like the S5 and HTC M8, it is certainly respectable. The build is nice and feels good in my hands. Battery life seems solid and I like the battery saver mode (something my old iPhone definitely could have used). The phone is quick and handles day-to-day operations with no problems. The best comparison I can think of for this this phone is the Nexus 7 (2013), but in a phone. I love my Nexus but this device does most of the things that the tablet can do. The only downside is the lack of 4G, but that's ok given all the other things it does great. Again you cannot beat the price and I believe you can't go wrong with this phone.

    Keep your expectations realistic

Background: My former phone was a Galaxy S3. As good as it is to see such apparently capable hardware in a phone of this price bracket, it seems like Motorola is trying to come off as saying that their G series has the kind of hardware to match or even beat flagship phones from a couple of years ago. While it indeed does use a very pure AOSP, and in unlocked manner is lacking any of the carrier-specific bloat, I wouldn't go as far as to say this is indeed a high-end phone. It is indeed missing many crucial elements that would keep it from being in the "big leagues" even though it scores well in benchmarking, considering what it has. Pro's: large screen but still very user friendly for use with a single hand. Motorola put some time in optimizing its user interface on this phone. Quad-core snapdragon CPU keeps things consistently smooth. Screen is comfortably bright for games. Really good HSPA+ data speeds. Cons: 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage means multi-tab browsing is going to get limited quickly, and force reloading. Not much space for apps, either. Non-removable battery is a turn-off for me. Unless using it lightly, expect to keep an eye out for any outlets to charge from. Screen is really dark when playing videos from youtube, or movies from netflix. Ugly: Does not support wired earpieces that support calls on true high-end phones. Awfully slow charging for a phone with integrated battery. No true LTE support. Conclusion: I will confess the Moto G did do a lot of things right... but you have to set yourself some realistic expectations. Is this indeed a capable phone? Yes; more than the specs initially have you believe. Is it powerful? Yes. Would it be a good alternative coming from a flagship phone? absolutely not. If all you've ever had were entry-level android or low-end Windows phones, then the Moto G will certainly impress, and is nothing to sneeze at even at its unlocked price. But I would not recommend one to someone who is already used to phones that even were flagship in the last few years, because it will lead to disappointment.

After researching a bunch of phones which were priced exorbitantly, I landed on the Moto G phone. This phone offers excellent features and comes unlocked at an unbelievable bargain price of less than $200. The camera is great, the 5 inch screen is generously big, Android is cool with google voice commands, and best of all 32 GB of additional memory with a micro SD card. I purchased this for my wife, and she loved her Christmas gift.

    Great Unlocked Phone

This is last years model (2014), but the price is right (US$99). Using this with T-Mobile pay as you go. Just inserted my T-Mobile sim card, started up the phone, and after the initial set up everything (including contacts) was imported. Painless as it can be. Runs android lollipop, but it is scheduled to get an update to marshmallow.

Best budget android phone under $200!

I bought this phone for my cousin and tried it out for about a week. The moto g second generation really impressed me with its build quality, screen (720p but absolutely usable outside and vibrant), and it's very snappy. The only thing missing is LTE but I was able to watch HD YouTube videos, surf the Web, etc. with little issues. I tried the BLU 5.0 LTE, but the built in speaker for your ear to hear and make calls are absolutely garbage on that phone, so I returned it and got the moto g second generation (no issues here). Also, Motorola has shown great software support for this phone, and that is very important! That can't be said for other manufacturers of other affordable phones. Very satisfied with this phone and I would recommend it for someone that doesn't want to pay $499 or more just to have the latest and greatest processor, screen (more than 720p) etc. I'm pretty sure that they will come up with an LTE model (if it doesn't exist already) but it's not a deal breaker. I personally have a galaxy s4 and the screen on that phone can't be read outside (even though it's 1080p). The moto g is like 10% slower than my s4 but it's almost impossible to tell the difference. I'm not a gamer, so I can't speak for that, but reviewers say that this motor g can handle any game just fine. Battery life is pretty good and I can get as high as 4 hours on scree time with heavy use.

bought this back in December as Christmas gift to myself and the phone has done great all these months, best $179 I ever spent, works great and has all the features that a Samsung Galaxy has minus the huge price tag, love my phone.

I bought this to replace an old Mp3 player from Samsung. It exceeded my expectations. I use Bose sports ear buds and the sound is great. It could use a little more amplification. Basic 4.4.4 Android with no bloat ware. Put in a microSD card loaded with music and love it. I haven't used it as a phone yet. I just use it to jam. Short comings are only 8Gb, and it did not come with buds but that's not a disaster since I use my own. Connects to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth really well. It also has AptX for the best Bluetooth connectivity with no lag. Yes it really works, I tried it with my Sennheiser headphones. For under 200 dollars I give this a two thumbs up. I might even use it as a phone. I also bought this because it's supposed to be getting the upgrade to Android 5. booyah. I can tell I got a good deal because my brother inlaw is upset and what good deal I got and he spent 600 on his phone.

My old phone was getting very laggy and was becoming a chore to use. I looked at many GSM phones and found this one to be the best value for the price. The picture from the screen is good, the stereo speakers are very good (be sure to turn OFF the equalizer for best sound, otherwise the audio is muddy). The camera takes good pictures and the phone works glitch free. Yes, other flagship phones will do all of the above better but they cost 4X as much. If you want a phone that does all of its tasks with no fuss and is rather nice for the price, look no further.
