First smart phone and researched many different ones and costs. This phone stood out with the positive reviews so decided to try it. Have now had it for a couple months and am very pleased. Camera works well and it has many high end features. Performance is good. For the money its really comparable to the high end models with similar features. Very nice design.

I used Apple 5s for 3 years but can't afford to buy Apple iphone 7 for $ 800. I did my research and find this phone, bought it yesterday. The phone is pretty decent with the price. Battery is really strong and powerful. Recharge pretty fast... No complains yet. Thank you Moto. I will definitely recommend it to someone who don't want to spend too much on phone.

I cant say enough about this phone. I love it! I wanted to write this review because there was some concern on my part regarding whether you can use it with Verizon prepaid. The answer is yes...I came from Sprint prepaid and in general I don't think I will ever switch back to a contract phone. I love the fact that I can leave whenever I want and have a lot more flexibility...the only downside is full price phones. Anyway, I had no problem with setup whatsoever. I ordered the phone and when I got it didn't do a thing with it at first. I wanted to go to the store and just have them do it all. I went to a Verizon CORPORATE store, and told them I was unhappy with Sprint prepaid and wanted to switch to Verizon prepaid. Within a half hour I was done. The only thing I recommend doing is calling your current provider for your account number to make it easier to port your account/number over. I simply did it in the store and all was well....if you are prepaid and ask for your account number they will immediately know why you are asking for it....I wanted to say well because Sprint sucks...but I bit my tongue. lol The phone itself is fast and I was able to install every app I could think of that I would use and I still have 20GB internal remaining. Plus it can hold up to a 256gb SD card which is great. Also, if you ever run out of internal it allows you to combine your SD card with internal memory....another great feature. The screen is bright and the functionality/ease of use of the phone is top notch. Another item worth mentioning is bloatware. This phone HARDLY HAS ANY! ....Something that is becoming increasingly rare. I got a tempered glass protector for the screen from SuperShieldz and a Incipio - NGP Case from Best Buy as well. True, phones like the Samsung S8 will have features that this doesn't but for than more 90% of people out there, this phone is more than enough. Also, I think the camera is great especially for a cell phone. Oh, almost forgot I love the fingerprint button, I use it on a lot of apps for security and can be used to lock the phone as well. There is nothing about this phone I don't like and I absolutely love being back on Verizon...bye Sprint! LOL PS..Ask for Nano SIM from Verizon, same one used in mini-droid.

I did some research on this phone and it seemed solid so I was excited to get this phone everyone seemed to rave about. I had a Moto x second generation I loved that phone but the camera could have been better. I will start by saying what I like about g5 plus is the texting format, the phone is pretty I like the forward facing camera as well as the look of videos other than that this phone is horrible. Things I don't like that may seem minor but over time it could become bothersome like not having a photo gallery leaving Google your only source for pictures. If you try to get Moto g gallery app this phone is not compatible so forget it.The rear camera is unbelievably flat and washed out sometimes the picture comes out half clear and half blurr. Another huge problem is people complaining about me sounding as if I'm under water while I hear them perfectly fine. Google maps gives a wrong directions or completely freeze. It lags big time it's very slow even on 4g I'm use to getting a page as soon as i hit search. It constantly crashes my phone has gone completely black several times.T he speaker sounds like it's on the lowest level when at maximum sound. Recordings look good but has a lot of background noise . A lot of people want this phone for the camera trust me the pictures are heavily filtered and sometimes blurry. It's odd that when you capture the picture it looks great until it changes to the final resolution. If you don't believe my complaints are valid Google it and you will find identical and consistent complaints. No phone is perfect but it at least should be functional for talking . I bought this phone because of the camera, and love it because of its other features. You have the option of replacing the navigation bar by using the finger print scanner as a home, on/off button. Very premium quality for under $250.

I researched long and hard before buying this phone. Turns out the exceptional ratings are rightly reflected by the product. This phone is sleek, the navigation is smooth, fast, and a great deal at the price. You don't have to throw a bundle of cash to get quality, this phone proves that. Much satisfied purchaser .

I really love this cellphone. I was able to activate it easily with the Best Buy $1 Tracfone Bring You Own Phone Mini Activation Kit SIM card. If you have a Tracfone Auto-Refill monthly and follow the instructions your account will be activated in just a few minutes. It only took an hour for me to see my Tracfone Remaining Balance. It was very easy to do on-line. I highly recommend purchasing this smartphone. Plus I love the features of this cellphone. It's 100 times better than my other cheap cellphone. I was glad to see when the cheap cellphone was de-activated.

Some issues, but held up pretty well.

I've had this phone for years now, and here's the run-down on how it's worked out. When I first got this phone, I had major issues getting data to work. I had a proper sim card, data was turned on, but it just wasn't working. Turns out that this was a common issue, and I ended up having to manually put in a VPN (?) from my cell provider. It wasn't doing this automatically as was supposed to happen. After this was fixed, the phone worked well for over 3 years - until recently. For the past 9 months or so, the phone has had what I assume are battery issues. When plugging the phone in to charge, the OS tends to freeze at that moment or the first time a notification tries to come through. The only way to fix this is to hard reboot (holding power and main window buttons at the same time). The reason I think this is battery related is because my phone will sometimes show around 30% battery life left and then suddenly drop to 5% within 5 minutes - with no apps actively running. This phone is nearing it's usability, but for what it costs and for how long I've had it, it has help up pretty well. I've dropped it at least a dozen times on hard tile floors and I've never had to do a major repair (this might be more down to a soft case + screen protector, but it bears mention).

This is an excellent phone, and not just because of its low price. Battery power is incredible, too, with more than 50% remaining by the end of my day. I had the Samsung S7 Edge at about 3Xs the price and I like this phone better. Really.

    First unlocked phone

I am not going into detail with specs, etc.. I had been looking at a different phone Moto G Pure, which BB dropped due to heating issues and the phone shutting down anyway--- there was the Moto G5 plus, that I thought was not out yet. I came from an Lg Ultimate 2 locked Tracfone, CDMA Verizon which was a pretty decent phone, until battery and heating issues was a problem. I am not a heavy user. I had the mind set that I was going to buy a CDMA phone and go back to Verizon with BYOP. I am now with AT&T GSM. Something with Verizon, they just don't let you come in with a new unlocked phone, ( I have read on numerous reviews) Everything is working fine which I had Tracfone walk me through all of it, this phone takes a nano sim which is very tight to get in,so try not to bend or break it, the gold sides are up-not down, and I have a 32gb SD card to put misc stuff on. The phone is faster than my old LG, the screen brightness is very good, I do miss my notification light, instead I have to hear beeps or buzzes you might miss. I did not buy this for the camera, as it states, it's a PHONE, not a camera, not a computer, but for having all that in this small package is a lot. I do not want a gigantic phone. I bought it for calls, texting, & emails. 1st thing out of the BB reps mouth, if you want a good camera 12 mp, this not it, If I want good pictures, it will not be with a phone, but a DSLR camera. Calls sound okay, have not had any dropped calls. Like the front facing speaker, could be louder. I am still trying to get used to it, even though Android OS is pretty much the same. It's learning Motorola 's software. Right now just trying to have fun with it.

I am using it. It runs well and long standby. But 2GB memory is a little small. To my view, at least 3GB. If you have more budget, please select 4GB+64GB version.

Solid Phone for a Great Price...

I purchased this phone after my Samsung Galaxy s4 fnally quit working. I did not want to spend a lot of money for another phone and after doing some research, I decided to purchase the Moto G5 Plus. I have had this phone for almost 6 months now and I am very pleased with my purchase. The price point is amazing for those of us who are shopping on a budget. I have had no problems with the call quality and the phone does everything I need it to do (I'm a casual user). The battery life is great and overall this phone gives you a lot of bang for your buck. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the camera is just okay. If having a great camera is important to you, I would suggest looking into some of the higher end phones. I could definitely tell a difference between this camera and the one on my old samsung galaxy. If Motorola could make a few improvements on the camera while keeping the price point reasonable, they would have a 5 star phone on their hands. Overall, great phone on a budget!!!

Honestly I didn't want to pay more then $250-$300 for a phone and this thing fit the bill. It's pretty much a standard Android, has a great battery life, and nice screen size. The sound quality a bit weak, but other then that it's a solid phone for the price. I think it's worth $300 to $400 dollars.

Like phone, but weirdness in group texting

    Posted .

I upgraded from a Straight Talk branded Moto E phone (was running out of space with only 8gb) to this phone. I stayed with Straight Talk (ST) service, using their Bring Your Own Phone Activation Kit (used the Nano SIM card for use with CDMA LTE devices). Easy transfer. Sooner or later I'll leave ST and I wanted a phone that I could use with a major carrier when travelling outside the US. Overall, after just over 2 weeks with this phone, I like the Moto G5 Plus (bought a case made by Spigen on Amazon), but I've had some weirdness with group texts. When someone responds to a group text, their number (not their name) appears in the message header. When I open the text, I see the sender's name. For me, this situation is not a show-stopper: more of an annoyance. I tried calling Motorola support and they claimed nothing is wrong with my phone: that's the way the Android Messages app works. I find that hard to believe. I'd be interested in hearing from other folks who may have found a solution to this problem.

Just picked up the Moto G5 Plus. With nearly stock Android, this phone is amazing and packed with everything I need. For under $300 you can't get a better phone. I took this into my local Verizon store and they had it activated for me in about 15 minutes.

I'm in love with this phone. I've had Galaxy S4s for years, and I thought they were great, but the new Galaxy's are so expensive so I started looking into cheaper phones, and I'm so glad I did! This Moto G5 works just as well, if not better, than my Galaxy. I only regret not trying it sooner. I love that there's no bloatware pre-installed on it. I have so much more room for music and photos! The battery life is so great that it blows my mind. My Galaxy could not go for days without charging, but my Moto can! The camera is great. It's super responsive. I couldn't ask for more. I've only had it for 15 days so far, but I'm very impressed with it!
