Not Bad for a Basic Phone
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I thought, I would have a difficult time connecting & switching my old phone for this new "Moto 4g Play" phone to my Sprint account, however, it was super easy! All I needed to do was go to the Sprint store, buy a sim card, and Boom, he set it up, connected/activated my new phone, all within 25 mins or less. Now, the phone is pretty impressive for basic smartphone. Simple settings and set up, I can't complain for an emergency phone! Just don't expect much features. It’s my first day using it, I’m okay with it, however, I do miss my luxury features, dual screen, clip tray, etc... Just waiting for the LG G7 to come out

Best Budget phone
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Did not want a phone with >5" screen. Not many options out there. So, settled on this. Was worried about the screen quality or any lag during use. Planned to return it if any of the above happened. Boy, was I surprised! For such a low price, the screen quality is great! Also, absolutely no lag thanks to the near stock android, though I don't play any games on my phone. So, not sure how well it will do with games. The best part is the battery. Easily lasts a day and a half. Also, charges quickly if you use a 2 Amp charger (Not the one that comes with the phone) Definitely a great phone to buy.

Good Budget Phone, so so speaker
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am always buying phones and having fun trying them out. I purchased this one as a Verizon branded prepaid phone for $85. Good price with Vz bloatware, I would skip this one if you were considering the fully unlocked version. For a few bucks more you can get the Moto G4 or G4 Plus or maybe the newer G5. The reason to go with this one is its smaller form factor in comparison to the G4/G5 and it is the few phones whether Vz branded or not, is compatible on CDMA Verizon and Sprint. Speaker is so so. The stock Moto notification sounds and ringtones sound muffled but when playing YouTube videos or music sound is adequate. It is quick performing, 720p screen and resolution is smaller so you will notice that you can't see as much without having to zoom in and pan around pages.

Great cell phone!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far, easy to use, fast response, nice bright display, good price. worked right off the bat with my sim card from my old phone. I use Tracfone service as I don't use my phone often. But this was an amazing step up.Glad I got it.

Not the G4 I expected
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I thought I ordered the Standard G4 4th Gen. Instead I got the Play Version which is smaller. A surprise. Also seems to be of an older Generation and used the larger SIM Card. Should be fine if like the Standard G4.

Very good phone, get it
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had to get new phone to get new Android version and this one ticks all the boxes. Works great on my Verizon account, plug and play. Battery life is excellent, phone is speedy and has good display. Unfortunately the SIM and the SD cards live under the battery, I'm sure there's a technical reason for that but it stinks. My previous Motorola phone had them accessible from the side at all times. Overall a very good phone, just make sure you get a case the back is inexpensive plastic and needs some help.

Motorola is good!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am usually an LG girl, but since going the prepaid route and buying my phones out right, I have to watch the dollar. I went with the MOTO G4 after discussing with the Best Buy employee. I use my phone for talking, texting, data usage. I was impressed with the phone and actually liked it. I am getting another one as I shut my phone in my back hatch, twice and although it survived and the phone is damaged, it is still usable til I can get a replacement.

Think about all you get for $150
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My wife dropped her Moto g3 phone and was panicked about getting a replacement quickly. The Moto g4 play was on sale for $130 and there was an additional $25 visa checkout offer, taking the phone down to $105. Everything about this phone is decent for regular internet, email, calling and text use. It would probably struggle with high end games and the camera is iffy unless it is a well lit outdoor shot. That's fine for my wife's needs, and she gets a world class brand supercomputer in her pocket for $100? Amazing.

Finally found the right phone!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Previous: Galaxy S4 & Alcatel Idol 4 Switched to Cricket from Verizon and had to get new GSM phone. New phone was fine although larger than I would like. It got killed on vacation, so I was back to shopping. My requirements: 1) unlocked for use in international travel (Cricket accepts 3rd party unlocked GSM phones, BTW). 2) No bloatware, fast, and not power hungry. 3) Small and good for business use rather than multimedia (but still good for reading news). 4) Android 6. This Moto G4 Play is perfect for me. Pros: 1) I don't have any fingerprint issues with the glass. 2) Slightly smaller/thinner than my Galaxy S4. 3) Back is rubberized (finally!) so it is very easy to use one-handed without fear of dropping. (Thus I don't plan to use a protector!) 4) Fast operation so far as I can tell. I've got Twitter, Facebook, etc. all running fine. 5) Replaceable battery! Power use seems much smaller than previous phones, perhaps due to smaller screen size (?). Cons: 1) Power button placement is too central on side so it is inadvertently pressed too frequently. 2) Not dual sim. :( Summary: If you want a good business phone (& small) that can be used for international travel, and that isn't super expensive so won't break the bank if you lose/break it, then this is perfect for you.

The sweet spot
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A solid phone for small money - hits a sweet spot for price/performance. 16 GB is more than enough space for my apps, the screen is sharp, the camera fine for my needs, the processor seems to be fast enough to handle things without being sluggish, and battery life is good. I am very satisfied with this phone and delighted I only spent $150 on it!

Not perfect
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Before I start my review I will start by saying that I never give a 5 star rating to any product I purchase unless it's exceptional. Now, with that said I will tell you that I found this product, the Moto g4 play to be every bit as good as a $500.00 Smart phone with just a few exceptions. It doesn't take the best pictures and it takes just a few seconds more in some cases to get where you want to go but for the most part it's as good as any expensive phone out there. Bottom line, it's not perfect but it's pretty darn good.

works on ringplus!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Activated this phone on rinplus with Sprint sim card model# simglw236c. Initial activation didn't work for me, so skipped the activation. And then updated PRL and Profile manually from the phone setting followed by reboot hooked the phone on to the network. Working perfectly fine.

NEVER AGAIN!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this phone @ BestBuy less than 6 months ago ($250). The ONLY reasons I bought the phone 1) It was compatible with T-Mobile service, which is the only carrier that I get signal with @ home, and 2) I refused to spend $400 or $500 on another Galaxy phone but I still wanted a "name brand". For the past several months it just shuts off randomly w/out warning, you don't even have to be NEAR the phone. It shuts off when I try to send pics via text. It shuts off when I try to watch vids on Facebook. It also freaks OUT and flashes multiple apps on top of one another, so fast to the point that you don't even have time to click "POWER OFF", so you're left with only one option - remove the battery to get it to stop freaking out. I will admit that my Galaxy phone had awful battery life and did not have enough memory and would just freeze up on you, but THIS craziness of the Motorola G4 is on ANOTHER LEVEL! I would rather spend $100 on a cheap phone, KNOWING that it's going to go bad in within 1 year, than spend $250 on a phone that has gone bad in less than 6 months.

Posted .Hi Kimmy, sorry to hear this. Just to confirm, your device is a G4 and not the G4 Play? Does this happen while the phone is plugged to a charger? If yes, you may request a repair/replacement here https://goo.gl/dEsJbN. Thanks -Erwin

Was alright until Firmware Upgrade...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this phone because I needed a new one fast. Being made by Lenovo and Motorola, I thought I had a solid buy. And it was until a few months back, when they upgraded the Android Firmware. Now the battery drains like crazy (sometimes requiring 2 charges a day), it overheats, apps will just randomly open, it suffers from the "Phantom Touch"... All to the point where I've purchased a refurbished model of my previous phone. I'll keep it as a back-up, but only use it in between phones. Very disappointed.

Buyer Beware
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.NO COMPASS SENSOR! No matter what you do, GPS signal will be slow and lost 50% of the time. First I thought it was a bad luck phone. So I called Motorola for them to send me another one. The new one did the same exact thing. After my own research, any phone with out a compass sensor will have issues with GPS. Besides the GPS issue, the phone is decent for its price.

Terrible wi fi reception
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Most of the features of this phone are good but if you want a phone that's going to link with available wifi networks to save your data look elsewhere. It won't pick up signals that my cheaper Alcatel has no problem with.

Posted .Hi Trow, sorry to hear about that. Make sure your Wifi scanning is enabled. You can go to Settings > Scroll down to Location > Tap 3 dots > Tap Scanning > Turn on Wifi Scanning. Also, you can test if the same thing happens in Safe mode. To boot into Safe mode, press the physical power key, touch and hold Power off, touch OK when Reboot to Safe mode appears. Thanks. -Anne
