Great Phone. Activate in store for BETTER pricing
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this phone 5 months ago and love it. I have small hands and the size/weight are good for me (tried out the phone in-store, tested the camera, etc). The instructions are easy to follow, So far I have only used 42% of the 32 GB onboard memory (store photos/videos on an SD card). It takes good pictures/video in low light, the display is crisp with deep blacks and vivid colors, lots of camera options/features, very responsive LCD screen. The Android Pie op sys is reliable. Get a case/screen protector as it is slippery (like most phones). It was MUCH cheaper (than comparable phones at Verizon), I activated it in store...partly why such a good deal. BestBuy did a good & speedy job activating it. I am an engineer and have very high standards for products I buy.

Best compact budget phone for T-Mobile
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Moto G7 Play is the perfect phone for my needs. It is the right size and weight (I don't like large screen, heavy phones). I like that it has USB-C, a headphone jack, expandable memory, a 632 processor, great battery life, a loud front firing speaker, stock Android software without a second skin, and supports band 71, T-Mobile's new LTE band. I have been waiting for over one year to buy a new phone with band 71 support, and until now, there have not been any decent choices for compact phones that were not flagships, or very low end phones, with low end specifications. The Moto G7 Play fullfills all my needs brilliantly. As for other alternatives to this phone that would have all the above mentioned features...there aren't any right now. Just buy this phone...you'll be delighted with it...

Good budget phone
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Moto G7 Play is a good budget phone; the back fingerprint panel is cool and helps to unlock the phone as you grab it. The dimensions and weight of the phone are good for everyday use. The overall performance is pretty impressive for a phone under $200.

Defective
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For the first hour, my review would have been a 5-star. Too bad I didn't write this then. In fairness, the set-up was amazingly easy -- the phone switched itself over to US Mobile from my already-in-use sim card so quickly that a text that had been undeliverable to my old Windows phone popped up within minutes. It was after that when the trouble started. I was in the camera the first time the screen went nuts. Every touch, no matter where on the screen, made the camera zoom in and out. No menu, no going back, no Home screen, just zoom. I finally hit Power to put the phone to sleep, and it restarted itself. Everything worked fine for a few minutes after that, but then the screen stopped recognizing any touches. No swiping, selecting, opening apps, nothing. From that point on, every few minutes the screen stopped responding, and I had to put the phone to sleep and wake it back up the fix it. (There was one exciting, but isolated, incident when the phone re-opened the Domino's app no matter what I touched, and then even after I stopped touching anything at all, faster and faster until it was flashing like a strobe light. I took the hint, put the phone back to sleep, and took a pizza break before I threw the stupid thing out a window.) I uninstalled every app (only five -- I'm not a heavy app user) on the off-chance that one of them was causing a problem, but it kept happening, anyway. If this was a $20 phone, I might just live with having to hit Power/Power every few minutes, but it's not. I'm disabled and $200 is a lot of money to me. I've never had a phone this expensive before. I only switched now because Microsoft has abandoned Windows phones. I thought that if I stretched my budget painfully and bought a phone from a known name, I'd get something quality that I could keep using for a few years. For $200 I shouldn't have a phone that's this non-functional. I've done a Factory Reset and I'm going to take it back to Best Buy. I'm hoping they'll return or replace it, because if I have to pay the restocking fee for this defective thing, I'm really not going to be able to afford a replacement phone. This is my first experience with Motorola in over 20 years, and I'm very, very disappointed.

Lots of connectivity problems
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I liked this phone initially, but connectivity problems are changing that, fast. The wifi and BT signals apparently are in conflict and I see frequent drops with anything less than a very strong signal. This is a major discussion topic on the Motorola/Lenovo forum. I also see random downgrades to 3G while in LTE coverage. This continues until I restart. And, this phone almost never auto-connects to existing BT devices. Again, I like the features and speed of this phone, but Motorola has a design flaw with the g7 line. I have two g7 Play phones and both display these connectivity problems. I had NONE of these issues with my previous LG phones. Sadly, I can not recommend this model. (Connectivity issues were mentioned in the initial online product reviews for g7 phones but I assumed Motorola would resolve any problems before general release. This was my mistake)

Good but glitchy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was super excited about this phone till i discovered it consistently drops calls when using headphones and won't give text notifaction sounds. All other apps give notifaction sounds except messages. Very disappointed in the phone.

Mototola skips out on Security updates!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Don't buy any of the G7 play or power models and probably all of them. Motorola quit providing the security updates as of Feb. 2021! Only two years from release for sale. Is that like crooked or what? Sell a product and then pull the rug out on every one with that product. Now they are worthless if you need to use any mobile banking apps. Thanks for the superb service MOTOROLA!!

Horrible best buy and horrible phone
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Don't like to waste thousands of $ on phones that just break. I got this one and nothing is set up to use. You cannot use mobile data, you cannot answer calls, you cannot group text. All these things you need to research and fix on your own. WHY? The store is no help and won't talk to you unless you create some sort of obscure password. The problems can be fixed with searching for answers on the internet but JUST WHY???Why not sell a phone that is set up for sucess???
