Customers are saying

Customers highly value the Moto X (4th Generation) for its excellent camera, affordable price, and long battery life. Many users appreciate that it is unlocked, waterproof, and easy to use. However, some customers have concerns about its limited internal storage, durability issues after extended use, and speaker volume.

I always had good luck with Motorola Phones, but was talked into Samsung on my last phone. Was really looking forward to returning to Motorola . But I have had a lot of issues with this phone, not all of which I have been able to resolve. Sometimes it will not pick up a signal even when there is a strong signal available. Have to take in and out of airplane mode to get signal or restart phone.

This is being written a little more than a year after purchase. The camera has always been slow and poor. Seems reception was not as good as other phones. Had updates WAY more than other phones and seems it got slower after each one. After the last one, Google phone app didn't load and 2 days later it went dead. This is my 2nd and my last Motorola phone.

This phone seems to have a soft glass screen as it scratches easily, far easier than my previous motorola phone. Also the glass back is slippery. I've dropped this phone far more times than my previous phones and it has slipped off surfaces the previous phones stuck to. Within 2 weeks of purchase the glass back is cracked. I do not recommend this phone.

I've had the X4 for most of last week and love it so far. It is a great all the way around. The looks are like that of other phones selling much more. Favorite features: Camera - selfie camera is awesome and best I've ever seen by far. And it includes a real flash. I've read the camera lags, but I haven't had any issues like that. Standard camera is dual and takes some great pics also. Battery - I've been getting either all day or very close to all day with normal usage. Comes with a rapid charger. Very clean operating system with some cool features like twist to launch camera. Recent phones I've had are iPhone 6 and Samsung Galaxy S7

Hi Zheat08, sorry to hear this. Regarding this concern, I would suggest sending in the device for repair for further evaluation, just go to this link to get instructions for Online warranty request: https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/mcp/service/. However, please note that the majority of damages to the display are not covered, and are therefore repaired out of warranty. - Mike MotorolaMobility

    Solid Phone

I've only had the phone for about 24hrs, but I was able to immediately start using it as it was quite easy for me to remove the SIM card from my old phone (Original Moto X [1st Gen]) and pop it right into this one. It also comes with a removal tool, as I'm sure is probably pretty standard these days. Having not upgraded my phone in the last four years, you can imagine how I felt when I turned this thing on. Pros: Vibrant colors, very crisp, text was super clear. And fast, talk about fast! Installing, uninstalling apps, browsing the internet, social media, everything just moves so smooth. Call quality is really clear, if you have the right network I presume. I'm on T-Mobile, so if you have T-Mobile, you should experience very clear calls. I haven't tested the Camera just yet, but I've never been a huge photo type person. I use my phone mostly for calls, text, social media, news, weather, the every day type stuff. I don't play video games, but I'd assume this thing can handle games pretty well. Google works great on it, once you get your voice recognition set up, asking google to search for you is pretty easy. The fingerprint scanner works great, and you can basically program all of your fingers onto the device for unlocking it. There's also a backup option that you can choose, between three different options I think (pass code, pattern and something else). Quite secure, if you're looking for something like that. I also found the speakers to be quite good. I like to play music over the speaker while I exercise in the morning, and even over my equipment I could hear the music quite well. I haven't tried taking a call and placing the caller on the loud speaker, but I'd assume it's pretty clear based on the quality of the sound of my music. There's probably a ton of features I have yet to uncover on this phone, like video calling, something I've never done before. I also just discovered today that there's a block feature. On my old phone (Moto X), I had to create a contact that showed up as "Blocked" on the caller ID and I had to tell that contact to be sent directly to my voice mail, and I would just keep adding numbers to that contact. It was extremely annoying. The alarm works great, several tones to choose from, but you can also install your own tones if you'd like. The battery is strong. It could be stronger, but I started today at 88%, that was 8hrs ago, with heavy-ish use (mostly spotify, twitter, facebook), I'm at 65% currently. The charging for it is crazy fast. It comes with a partial charge, something like 54%, and I was able to hit 100% in about 20mins. The build of the phone is really strong as well. Very sleek and smooth design. I'm sure there's more I could say, but that's all I can think of for only having it for 24hrs. Cons: Not very many, most of which can be attributed to the fact that I'm 4yrs behind on upgrading my phone, so a lot of the settings and things of that nature I'm still trying to figure out, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I had to search on google to figure out how to create a new page on the home screen to add more apps and widgets (which was as easy as dragging an app to a new page to create one automatically). There was just no indication of how to do so, and I ended up finding the answer pretty quickly on google. Installing wallpapers I found to be a bit difficult, but obviously the process has changed a bit since the original Moto X. And there's not a ton of wallpapers for this phone because it uses a weird resolution, but I could also be searching for them in the wrong place. I'm not exactly crazy about the raised camera on the backside. You basically have to get a case for this phone or you risk damaging the outer rim of the camera on the backside. Which leads me to my other point, BUY A CASE FIRST! If not, at least buy one at the exact same time as purchasing the phone. Don't make the mistake I've made. I have to be extremely careful for the next six days until my case arrives, because apparently no stores in my area sell cases for this phone. I'm assuming because it's not a flagship phone, but whatever the reason, it's still extremely annoying. The same can be said for finding screen protectors. I had to order both online. Kind of weird that Best Buy would sell a phone and not have cases or screen protectors readily available in store. All in all, a very nice phone and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a new device!
