Premium feel at half the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got lucky and purchased this phone when it was on sale. I mostly purchased it as a backup and for traveling overseas. If you're looking for an inexpensive device with a decent camera and a snappy processor, I'd say pick this one up. It's a step above the Moto G5 Plus. The camera isn't Samsung Note 8 or IPhone 8 plus level, but it holds its own and has some additional features not found on other phones. The fingerprint scanner is very accurate and I've had no issues or delays. It even has handled light gaming, web browsing, and multitasking as smoothly as the flagships or more expensive competitors. The all glass can be a total finger print magnet (it's well crafted. still, get a case) and the flashy start up "hello moto" screen can be a little annoying after the first ten times of turning the phone on. My only real concern is the turbo charge makes my phone a little warm.. But all in all, it's a sleek and great android device for the price. Also, not as much bloat ware which is another plus. Even as an iPhone user, I would consider making this my main phone.

Fantastic value for money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. One of the best mobiles phones I had. Amazing battery life, super smooth usage. Images taken during night time were a bit blurry. But overall a fantastic value for money. I wish companies make phone like this right now.

Best mid level phone
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this phone as a second phone for my second line. It performs amazingly and is at the level i almost would feel comfortable replacing my primary $700 phone with this. If you are looking for a phone without breaking the bank, I definitely recommend this.

Great value for price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had phone for one day only, but am very happy with it. Best Buy sales rep was excellent. Absolutely need a cover/case for it to handle it safely. Like this phone better than my Samsung S7 (and much better price).

$99 1st Gen Moto G is Superior to Moto X Pure
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When Moto X and Moto G came out the company was owned by Motorola. Now the Moto is owned by Lenovo. When I discovered Moto G hands free assist, I was taken away. It was awesome, it read me my texts while driving hands free and I could answer back by voice and send the reply hands free. Those days are over, my Moto X Pure 3rd Gen is a disgrace and don't you expect this Pure version to be any different. The Moto assist does not work properly, (The sole reason I upgraded to the Moto X Pure) with error messages such as " Google can't be reached at the moment" or Moto Assist does not allow enough time ( a micro-sec) to respond to the question " what time would you like this appointment?" and then it switches quickly over to a blank screen with the Ok Google mic. The OS doesn't respond to the catch phase most of the time, so I'm saying 'Ok google now, until I'm out of breath and make my request manually with my finger, the old fashioned way. I've searched endlessly for fixes to no improvements. It is running Marshmallow, so yes, the OS is up to date. Now I need to decide what my next phone will be. At $400 for a Moto made by Lenovo, search for another smartphone.

Great phone
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this phone. If you play a lot of games on your phone...then this phone will serve you well.. absolutely no freezing issues. Call quality is great ..camera is good but not near as good as my old phone, iphone 7 plus. The in depth mode isn't that great on this phone. I would definitely buy this phone again ..

Must have bought a lemon...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this phone because I tried it out in store and I really liked it. Must have got a lemon though, because the battery would not hold its charge for more than a few hours. Returned it after a week. What an ordeal!

DO NOT BUY, TERRIBLE BATTERY
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this phone exactly 1 year ago, and I loved it. The screen is great, the speakers are phenomenal and it has a lot of storage. But, the battery life is the worst thing I have ever seen. I am an avid user of this phone, as it is something I use all day. To give anyone reading this an idea, I turn it on when I wake up, watch YouTube and Netflix and go on Snapchat and Twitter all the time. I like to have music running in the background too, but I typically only have about 2 things running at once. With this in mind I used to be able to go around 10 hours on it with the battery saver on. This was fine, until about 3 months ago. All of a sudden the battery life dropped to I could go about half of the day before needing to charge, but honestly I didn't notice it. Then one day my phone died suddenly at 54% on Memorial Day weekend. Needless to say it has gotten worse. Sometimes my phone dies 95%, sometimes I get down to 2% (rarely happens). When I turn it back on to charge it says that it had the battery level that I was seeing before it died. It has gotten to the point where I travel with a portable charger and I have to leave it plugged in all the time in order to send out an email. It has been literally a year and 27 days, and now I have to get the battery replaced or a new phone. Just now my phone died at 97% and I plugged it in for 30 minutes with the screen being totally black, then did a hard reset to turn it on. The price says it all, this isn't worth it.

No notification LED
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It seems like a nice phone, but there's no notification LED (to inform if incoming messages from apps like WhatsApp, LinkedIn, Yahoo mail). Motorola failed here, it's a basic, expected and helpful feature. Had I known that, I'd have not bought the phone. PC Magazine's review does not mention this either.

Dead Power Button
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Power button completely stopped working after just four months. It's not me: this is only the second smart phone I have ever owned. Me and my girl made the switch from Samsung to Motorola after a decade of use, and my girl's power button started acting up within weeks (g5 plus). No more Motorola products in this house ever again. Now I have to exchange it for a refurb phone on Android 8, when I paid for a new phone on Android 7.

Posted .Hi sumbodyshero, thanks for bringing this up to our attention. May we know if you have a protective case attached to the phone? Is it still not working even without it? Can you confirm if the power button is loose? Please let us know by sending us an email to [email protected]. -Jhei
