Pretty good phone
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought new and my first one has a bit faulty hinge but beyond that the phone is amazing, only complaint is the hinge is very sensitive dust and a phone case is very very needed but hard to acquire. For a sale price its more than worth it.

Great phone but not without its issues.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Even though I was very happy with my Razr 5G I recently decided to try out the new Razr Plus. The major selling points for me personally were the larger inner and outer displays, improved camera functions, and the fact that the flip can now stay halfway open which eliminates the need for a tripod when taking photos and videos. I just don’t like to take hand held selfies as the camera really needs to be farther than arms length away in order to avoid the distortion of features. Also when I had to take new passport photos a few years ago it was a real pain getting my old Razr proped up in the right position without a tripod and then setting the timer before quickly getting into position. With the new Razr however I can easily get it pointing where I want and then just by holding up my hand in front of the camera a 3-second countdown timer will automatically start. Its also great not having to hold the phone while on video calls as you can just set it on the table rather than holding it in front of your face the whole time. I also like the fact that the fingerprint reader on this phone is much easier to use than on the previous model. As for the larger outer display its really fantastic and very functional but for some reason I still find myself habitually opening the phone up to do things that could now easily be done on the outer display. It’s just hard to break old habits I guess. Anyway, even though I am very happy with the new phone overall there are a few problems worth mentioning. First of all, unlike the previous model, the Razr Plus comes with a factory installed screen protector for some reason and after only four months of use it has starting to crease and crack at the fold. The phone will also no longer quite open a full 180 degrees and I suspect that this is also due to the damaged screen protector. I obviously need to have it replaced as soon as possible as any sharp edges from the crack could potentially damage the screen underneath. However since simply removing it oneself will void the warranty I must take it in and have it done at a Motorola partner service center – something which is easier said than done apparently. After calling Motorola they were supposed to make an appointment for me at a service center near me but he was unable to make the appointment online for some reason and so he gave me the phone number instead. Then after I was unable to get through by phone I drove out to the place only to learn that they do not have the screen protectors for this phone and they cannot even get them. It looks like my only choice now may be to send it in to Motorola and I really don’t want to have to do this every 3 or 4 months. I’m seriously considering just peeling off the screen protector myself and hoping I don’t need any warranty service over the next 8 months. My last Razr did not even have a screen protector and that display still looks and works great. Although ironically if a screen protector had come on the previous generation, it probably would not have cracked as the diameter of the fold in the display is much larger on the previous generation. This by the way is the main reason I chose the Razr 5G over the Samsung back then in the first place. I could just tell by examining the two that the Samsung screen would be much more likely to crack over time – as they indeed did. But now the new Razr Plus has a screen fold that is closer to the Samsung than to the previous Razr, Another downside of the new phone is that the flip is much harder to open one handed. With my Razr 5G it was very easy to open it one handed with a flick of the wrist. But it takes so much force to do this with the new model that I’m afraid the hinge could sustain damage. Also, having to flick with that much force makes it more likely that it could fly out of your hand and get damaged. Of course this cant really be helped and it is simply the price we must pay for having a flip that can stay half open at 90-degrees. Anyway, I have basically just resigned myself to always having to open it with both hands. As for the hinge itself it seems fairly sturdy but still not quite as sturdy as on the previous generation in my opinion. Another big downside for me is the fact that on the Razer plus you are no longer able to plug wired headphones in by using the USB-C adapter. I just like having the option of using a wired connection when need be. For example, when the battery is dead on my Bluetooth headset or when I want to listen to music on my home stereo system which does not have Bluetooth. Its just really stupid that they disabled this function in the new Razr Plus. Still, other than these issues it's a great little foldable.

Purchase through a carrier
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Two days into using this phone, its great. This is my first motorola phone bit the software has almost a 100% google feel which i enjoy, no bloatware like samsung phones and OneUI. The screen is bright and bold, decent saturation. The haptics are "okay" but to be expected on a flip phone. As well the camera could be better but again your buying a compact flip phone so expect most features to be middle of the road....its a flip phone and to me that is vey cool and nostalgic. The hinge has a slight creak, another reviewer mentioned it but you get a year warranty with motorola so hopefully its not an issue. I have not felt like it was cheap or easy to break at all it feels solid to me. I would suggest you purchase through a carrier. The promo deals are so competitive their basically giving it away for free. All in all this is a great phone that i feel 90% of average users will be satisfied with.
