Then the phone was dropped and since we did not buy the Best Buy warranty, Best Buy staff so that they and their Geek Squad staff would not service or support the small screen replacement. So we will repair it through an independent repair shop so we'll break even with the warranty cost having broken it once. We have never broken a screen before so normally we would have come out ahead. I'd recommend looking for a source besides Best Buy.

Easy to love flip phone.

Front screen gets blocked by cameras when browsing web or using apps, but you can flip it upside down.

A Nostalgic Design Updated for Today

This phone has the satisfying click closed many people grew up with with all the features of a flagship smartphone. The external display is a game changer, letting me take selfies with a superior camera and play videos without the battery drain of the full screen. I can’t imagine going back to Apple after experiencing the Razr Ultra.

A Well-Made Novelty

A folding screen is incredible technology, and that feeling is nostalgic yet futuristic at the same time. If you want to experience the magic of the early days of smartphones, you will get that feeling here. Quickly, however, that magic fades, and it becomes more of a nuisance than anything. There really is no significant benefit to having a flipping phone, the aspect ratios don't improve your viewing experience, and you have to be incredibly mindful of damage to the softer screen and delicate hinge. On a folding phone, it's worth dealing with those gripes - on this particular flip phone, it never feels worth it. If you're into technology, it's a great collectors item. If you're looking for a main phone, this one is novelty that comes at a steep price. I'd recommend going for a lower-end model Razr, or a flagship Samsung at this price point. At the end of the day, if your mind is set here, the phone itself is solid, can be fun, and eye-catching in public.

On the other hand, it was way more than I wanted to spend, but I compare it to, I bought a cheaper phone last year and that didn't last long. I'm hoping to much more use out of this one!!!

Fun phone, but build quality issues hold it back.

The first unit I bought head a whole bunch of dead pixels near the left side of the hinge, not exactly instilling confidence in the product on the whole. Moto thankfully only lightly skins Android, and we have a mostly stock experience here. The apps leave a little to be desired in some cases. Moto AI is awful right now, a hodge-podge of several different AI platforms that is designed to give you the best of each, but winds up a cluttered mess. You're best to just ignore the (non-remappable) AI button and use a single AI like Gemini. The outside screen is fun, and i like that Moto made some thoughtful additions like the little minigames and the fact that you can basically use any app. Some fun folding/outside screen possibilities that will likely end up going nowhere due to lack of dev support. Unfortunately once the novelty wears off we're left with a phone that for all intents and purposes is just okay. That and the display on the inside, like all other folding displays, is more fragile than thin sugar glass. So you will likely be constantly worried about touching it too much (especially if someone else grabs it, like a friend who wants to play around with it). Avoid this phone at all costs if you have longer fingernails too. You're essentially guaranteed to scratch the [out of the box screen-protected-] display. The positives just manage to outweigh the negatives, and if you're up for living on the bleeding edge then you might enjoy this product. I returned it due to the high price and constant fear that i would scratch or mess up the internal display, and also because the dead pixels on the first unit didnt instill confidence in the overall build quality.

Switching: Samsung Galaxy to Motorola Flip Phone.

I switched to the Motorola because I wanted a flip-phone and the Motorola was about half the cost of the Samsung flip phone. There are some features that I like but mostly I don't care for the Motorola. For one thing, the battery life is very short. Also, there's lots of features and capabilities that appear to be included by software developers just because they are "neat or cool." One of the most annoying features is that the home pages light up when the cell is set aside, like on a table or counter, or just not being used. It's really annoying. I've searched but have found no way to toggle them off. Mostly the Motorola is really annoying, and I regret making the switch from Samsung.
