If you are brewing a full pot, the coffee is good. However just brewing 4 or 5 cups, coffee is cool and weak. I would also redesign the water filter. It is kind of gross in between cleaning.

This seemed just what we were looking for - thermal carafe instead of glass/warming plate - and nice looking, too. The first one was a dud. Plugged it in - nothing. Had to return it to the store and exchange for another. The second one "worked" when we plugged it in. But after a week we had to give up and return it for a refund. We had several issues with it: -- A minor annoyance was that the brew temperature was not quite hot enough. -- Another minor annoyance was the design of the brew basket holder. It has to be completely removed from the unit to fill it; yet it cannot be safely set down on the counter because the valve sticking so far out of the bottom makes it tip over. Very awkward design. -- The real deal breaker was that the grounds overflowed every time, and got into the beverage to an unacceptable degree. We never did try to brew a full 10-cup batch; about 3/4 full of water makes just the right amount for our morning. Regardless, the grounds overflowed every time, making a big, time-consuming mess to clean up. We tried different brew baskets (solid bottom Mr.Coffee brand, as well as mesh bottom). Even when we reduced the amount of ground coffee to a "why bother" portion we still were chewing grounds. One morning the grounds clogged open the "auto-pause" valve, running brewing coffee all over the counter and onto the floor. We also tried brewing both with and without the water filter. In sum, this is a good idea, but Mr. Coffee seems to have rushed it to market without properly engineering it.

this is our second purchase of this model. was very happy with the first, however this purchase the carafe leaks onto the counter. need to get a replacement carafe somehow.

I like the carafe and timer feature. I set it and have a hot cup whe I awake.

The carafe must be filled with boiling water prior to making coffe. Stupidly I just assumed the base unit was also a heat element. I should have bought a glass coffee maker.
