I'll start with a list of the laptops features: Display -The display is pretty good. I like the resolution and brightness, but I have noticed some screen tearing while gaming(which is not unusual when you pair good gpus with 60hz displays). It only happens rarely with the games I play so it doesn't bother me that much but it might be annoying for fps players. I will be looking into ways to mitigate this as I am sure that they exist. Storage -The SSD gives this laptop a really fast boot up time, less than 10 secs (never counted exactly). Compared to my old laptop which took almost 2 minutes to boot, I find this pretty amazing. Plus this thing beats most other thin and light gaming laptops in terms of total storage. 256 gb of SSD is more than enough to keep your PC fast so the extra TB of HDD just sweetens the deal that much more if you like having a lot of storage. Heat and Noise -Performance with this laptop has been pretty good so far. I bought a cooling pad to rest this on and i'm not sure if it made that much of a difference , but I have not notice the laptop getting excessively hot while gaming. It also may be that my games are not that intensive so this may vary by user. The fans do however get quite noisy while gaming. There is software already installed that you can use to tweak the fan noise and make it less annoying (or you can review the laptop for a free set of headphones *wink wink*). Battery Life - The battery life is pretty good on this thing. I have not been able to get consistent or accurate readings from the battery predictor after 3 days of usage (some recent estimates were 2:47 at 93% or 9:31 at 77%) but by my own observation I would say that at 60% brightness you could squeeze out 4-6.5 hours (note-taking, some video streaming, some programming, keyboard light off). I am still trying to find ways to optimize the battery life and suspect I could get it to stabilize at 5.5-7 hours. For the price and specs, I am very happy with this battery. Because of tax you should expect to pay just over or just under $1700 for this laptop. This is about $400 dollars more than the other laptop I was looking at (Dell's G7, which would have been ~$1300 after tax). However, as a Best Buy member you have the option for point rewards, and I am expecting ~$80 in rewards certificates from this purchase. Also, posting a review for this model qualifies you to receive a free headset worth about $50. Because this is money I already planned to spend on some new games and because I was in need of a new headset, the difference between this and the G7 was more like $270. To me, an extra $270 for a better GPU (1060 vs 1060maxq), a brighter screen, ~2-3 more hours of battery life, and a much more portable form factor was very worth it. TLDR; The value of this laptop is situational. There are cheaper options out there for only slightly less performance if you can't take advantage of best buy rewards, but for best buy members(card holders), this is a great value buy if you want good battery life, specs, and display, and are in need of a new headset.

One of the best laptops I've ever owned; all games run smooth

The GS63 stealth laptop is one of my fist laptop I have ever owned and I can honestly say its one of the best purchases Ive made in a long time. The GS63 is really easy to use and the technical support from the MSI team are top notch. If you're looking to buy a laptop for your first gaming computer I highly suggest the GS63 stealth laptop from MSI.

I purchased the laptop for my son for both gaming and school. As a gamer and computer engineering major, he needed something with some horsepower. We looked at other brands, but given he will be carrying the laptop to class, he didn't want a traditional gaming laptop, i.e., bulky, heavy, with limited battery life. With an 8th Gen Intel® Core™ i7-8750H, 16GB of RAM and NVIDIA GTX 1060, the MSI GS63 Stealth-010 is comparable to most of the other gaming laptops in the $1000 - $2000 price range. What caught my eye was the size and weight of the laptop. Thin and lighter that other brands, it is comparable to other "thin" gaming laptops, e.g., less than 1" thick and true to the 15.6" screen size in terms of length and width. The screen bezel is bigger than newer models reminiscent of older laptops, but the screen is bright and clear taking away from the bezel size. Not a touch screen, but it doesn't need to be given the required use. This helps keeps the price down. The outside of the computer is elegant with a brushed black aluminum finish and subtle logos that enhance the look of the case. The edges are crisp with few curves. Solid feel when closed and open. The aluminum feels thick to the touch although one drop could do some damage. The keyboard has a nice feel with a little flex. The keyboard RGB lights can be turned off if not your thing, but add some flare to the laptop. Being fully customizable makes it even better. The touch pad is responsive to touch when pointing, but it can be a little difficult (hard) to click. Not a big deal, but I am hopeful it breaks in over time. MSI provides all the software needed to manage the computer including System Monitoring, System Tuner, Gaming Mode, Voice Wizard, Mobile Center, etc. Clean configuration screens. Notifications provided for required updates. Very little bloatware. Turn on, update and go. The laptop has plenty of ports compared to other gaming laptops. No USB-C, but has 1 USB 2.0, 3 USB 3.0, 1 HDMI, and 1 Thunderbort 3. The power port is in the middle on the right side which takes a little getting used to, but makes it easy to plug into. The power button is in the front on the right side, which is convenient and easy to find. There is also a SD card slot which is handy to have on a laptop. And yes, there is an Ethernet port. I am very impressed with the laptop performance. Gaming is smooth with no lag even on the higher settings. Should handle most games without a problem. Fan noise under a load is moderate depending on background noise, but no more than I would expect from a gaming laptop. The fans are on the top above the keys below the screen so the noise is hard to mask, but I don't worry about cooling given the design. There is little to improve on this laptop. For the price, it is hard to beat. Reduce the touchpad click force required, decrease the bezel size, add a USB-C port and the laptop would be perfect. Very happy and highly recommend!

So for the price, specially after the sale and student discounts, the specs cannot be beat. Audio does suck though, but I did not buy this for the audio although it would have been nice. bootup times are fast, as well as all other operations I have thrown at it. I haven't started the semester yet so I haven't run anything too demanding on it yet. But the cpu did reach 92 Celsius while running a Bitdefender full system scan, which is concerning. -the 10key addition is a major plus for me. -Came with a slight dent in the top fan grate area, which sucks, just noticed it this morning.
