I bought this for video and photo editing. It's almost perfect and can be upgraded to 32 gigs of ram. However innate where they decided to place the power connector. Right next to the usb and hdmi ports.

    Stunning computer at first glance

My first initial thoughts about this laptop is how nice and slim it is. The fact that it was only HALF the weight of the Alienware 17 laptop and had a slightly smaller footprint sold it for me. Thanks to Best Buy ‘s 12 month financing it was much easier to afford the computer! Favorite features so far: Powerful computer that can run a game such as Fortnite with High graphics at 180-200 FPS with EASE. Beautiful, responsive keyboard with an animated backlight Not ridiculously heavy, but rather nice and compact for a gaming laptop Dragon Center software makes laptop more customizable and lets you take care of it. (Fan speed, power profiles, keyboard customization, etc.) Laptop gets hot during gaming (it is silent when browsing the web or anything else) but the way the ventilation is set up does not burn your hands or anything. The fans blow the heat off to the sides and does not make the keyboard hot. Don’t like: Weak battery life but that should be expected on a gaming machine. (You can at most muster around 5 hours on the lowest battery saver settings) The screen. Coming from a retina MacBook Pro, the lower screen resolution was a huge turn off especially since the price tag is $1599. Though it’s not my favorite, the standard HD screen is tolerable enough. No Microsoft Office (although I believe this is common for most computers now? I wouldn’t know since I’ve been a Mac user for 4 years now) This laptop to me is better off being used as a gaming only device, but if you want to use it for school, you can definitely make it work. Overall I would strongly recommend this computer as it is closer to an ultrabook than most gaming laptops, while still being a beast of a machine.

This is my second MSI laptop but first in the GS series. This one replaced an old GE series from 2012. Overall first impressions were great. Look/style: great overall feel and look. Enjoyed the key back lights and customization. Extremely sleek feel overall. Functionality: keyboard is very responsive. It might take a little to "break-in" but I enjoy the sensation of knowing that a key was selected, especially in game. Numpad is a plus. The rest: speed, performance, monitor, SSD base for Windows and games, very comfortable in the lap with the felt backing, and love the dragon center and customization options there. Battery life has been fantastic. Haven't pushed the limits there but so far been able to play Diablo 3 and mess around on the internet, etc. with zero issues or recharge required (multi-day period with sleep mode between). Only true drawback is that it runs a bit hot when gaming. The actual hardware is fine (monitored via dragon center mini window option), but the underside of the laptop gets a little hot if you're just sitting on the couch, etc. with it in your lap. Luckily this is an easy fix through the control center and quick (~1min) custom profile creation. Essentially just activated the cooler boost and created a profile to run the fans higher while gaming. Fans are a little loud if you're not used to it but for a thin, streamlined gaming laptop it is honestly pretty quiet. Outside of games everything runs cool with no issues. So far extremely happy with the purchase. Hope to do some programming work, etc. on it in the future and test out my own game builds along the way.

    Great Gaming Machine

This is my second run at MSI laptops, my first being a warranty return after almost two years of continuous use due to a AC power connection issue with the MOBO. It is extremely light and thin for a full-size laptop. I am an avid gamer and this keeps up with everything just fine. I do not run full graphics as I prefer to optimize battery and performance over graphics but even when everything is set to ultra on WOW or WoT it runs fine but it will heat up significantly and the fan can be pretty noisy. This model improves the gaming keyboard and the sound quality is much better. having a 256GB SSD instead of a 128GB SSD is also a huge benefit. It also sports a dual-monitor support with the HDMI and mini-display-port several competitors do not offer this feature. Even with the warranty repair I have been happy with this device. I have used MSI components in my desktop builds for years and was always very satisfied and the laptops have proved the same. My advice for any laptop owner that will use the machine daily is GET A WARRENTY, at least two years! I was 4 months away from my warranty expiration when the battery would not charge and I got a SKU replacement instead of a repair ticket.

Great computer for work and gaming overall

I bought this computer with a two ways purpose, I wanted a computer that could help me with my work and I also like gaming, so I was looking for a good computer with a good price. I happened to run into this computer and as soon as I saw it I thought this was it. This computer has fulfilled my expectations honestly. To begin, the screen is not touch which is good because they consume a lot of battery, and it is a 1920 x 1080. The storage is pretty good, made go for this one over another computer I was checking out, because this one has 256GB of SSD, and that was a plus since the other one had less for the same price. 16GB of RAM will do fine to run games on high settings The laptop takes it to the latest stuff having 8th Gen i7-8750H with a 2.2GHz base. Graphics card The Nvidia GTX 1060 is great to develop all the amazing colors on pictures and games, and its the best card you could get for this price. The SteelSeries Engine 3 The per key keyboard backlight is amazing, you can customize the keyboard not by zone, but specifically to the key you want, which is a real plus to me. I love this. The Dragon Center allows you to control each aspect of the computer and keep track of it. I find it a great tool to have. Finally, the Battery life is around 4 hours while browsing on the internet, watching videos, etc. And for gaming, it would be around 1 hour which is not bad at all. Overall this is a great computer and I recommend it 100% to anyone out there looking for a great laptop for a great price.

Great, powerful, portable (w/ 1 small quirk)

I replace my gaming laptop every 2-3 years in order to keep up with the tech needed to run the games I play. (This results in a lot of nieces and nephews doing homework on ridiculously over-powered hand-me-down laptops). My last three machines have been MSI laptops. I purchased the GS63 Stealth to replace my GE62 Apache Pro recently. And I love it. The Stealth is smaller and lighter but still has the power to let me play heavily modded Fallout 4 and Skyrim, as well as the occasional space shooter. I was especially glad that the Stealth keyboard has a full numpad, since I also use it for work and some household tasks like banking and budgeting. It looks like a "gaming laptop" without being ridiculously covered in excess lighting and other worthless bling. One small caveat or quirk: While the NVDIA GPU and the onboard Intel video chip cooperate well together, when connecting an external monitor only the HDMI port and the mini Display port pull video from the NVDIA card. The Thunderbolt / USB C port pulls video from the Intel onboard chip. So while the laptop will drive a total of FOUR monitors (3 external + the laptop screen) you can only drive a dual monitor setup with the NVDIA GPU. So the only hesitation I'd have would be in recommending this particular laptop to someone wanting to dock it to a triple monitor setup. But outside of that special use case, this is a great machine with easy portability and lots of gaming power.

I gave this computer a 5 star review because it behaves exactly as advertised, along with an unexpected treat in the Dragon Center pre-installed application. Pros: Able to run current gen videogames just as good or better than a console Lightweight Starts up in about 10 seconds Fun light up keyboard that lights up and color codes itself automatically for a few games, and allows itself to be customised for others (e.g. it automatically lights up skill hotkeys in DOTA 2 and you can program it to do so in other games) Survived a fall of about a meter off the ground onto a plugged in audio cable - the male insert of the speakers bent while it was still inside the computer but the internals of my headphone port still seem fine. There is now a small cosmetic dent/bend around my ethernet port. The "Dragon Center" program automatically installed allows for easy switching between "sport" mode, "performance" mode, "comfort" mode, and "eco" mode. I list this feature because this makes the computer viable as a tool for work or casual internet use - I can do these tasks in "comfort" or "eco" mode which prevents the computer from becomming too hot or running the powerful fan unnecessarily. There is an easy function key to enable this switch to happen in milliseconds. Cons The mousepad is a little slippery for my tastes, and hard to click The built-in speaker is average (perhaps below average?) for a laptop.

Out of the box my first impressions of the laptop were amazing and after I powered it up I wasn't let down in the least. MSI took time and care in designing a sleek and stylish laptop. The aluminum casing is a great touch and also protects against leaving fingerprints. I love the ability to to create different patterns and designs on the LED keyboard. The included software for hardware management is impressive and useful. The user interface is intuitive and provides real-time information on things like CPU temp and gives me the ability to turn on fan boost. When considering how thin this laptop is it's mind-boggling that it's so powerful. -Display meets my expectations and is bright and crisp. I haven't adjusted and color setting yet but I know that is a feature. - Gaming: So far it handles Fortnite without a problem, fans do kick on and move a bunch of air to keep the laptop cool/warm but not hot. The fans are much louder than a standard use laptop but that's to be expected and I don't hear them with my headphones on. The external power supply is very hot to the touch, so I won't be letting it rest on anything that insulates well, like the carpet. The trackpad is a bit stiff when clicking it's something I will need to get used to, but I plan to use a mouse most of the time. Overall I really like this laptop, I think it was money well spend base on the quality of the machine.

    MSI KILLING IT!

fantastic Laptop thusfar. Gaming quality in a super thin profile. Fans are way quieter than my previous computer (Razer Blade) even when plugged in and pushing the framerates to the limit. Super happy with this purchase. One of the best included warranties in the Segment and a reputation built on gaming. I use this laptop for more than just gaming but I'd be lying if I told you I didn't buy it for the gaming prowess. Overall this is 5 stars. Pros: Display is perfect and the much needed 120HZ Laptop is super configurable from lighting to Power out of the box. New 8th gen chip runs cooler and faster with huge overclocking capabilities. Design is sleek and thin. Seriously thin. Sub 5lbs weight. 10 key Number pad. Great Audio. Wired Network port (every company is starting to leave this out) 60hz 4k HDMI port. Seperate headphone/mic jacks. Steelseries Keyboard is amazing to type on. Cons: Battery as always could be better. Gets a little warm with intense gaming or Editing use but C'mon you have to expect that a bit with what we are pushing these thin laptops to do nowadays. Large power block (wish it was a tad smaller) Recap: Overall love this laptop and would fully recommend to anyone in the market. I also tried the Blade 2017 and the Asus ROG GU501GM that best buy sells and this computer beats it hands down. Great company with great support. You can't go wrong with this purchase.

pros: RGB keyboard, It is light, it has a beautiful screen, dragon center helps program the computer to your needs, love the texture of the bottom, looks like a absolute beast, runs games fairly well. cons: fans are pretty loud, the top loves to keep your fingerprints, sort of thick bezels. I wanted a laptop to game, work, and just have fun on. And this is doing its job.

    Will not buy MSI Again

We will not buy MSI products again. There are two major issues: network connectivity and battery replacement. This laptop had an issue accessing wired networks from the day it was installed. The built-in network interface regularly experiences temporary loss of communications over wired connections. This causes problems with remote desktop connections and other software. We bypassed the issue by connecting to the network using a USB adapter instead of the built-in wired connection. During the past two months, we started having an issue where all computers on the network subnet containing the laptop stopped responding. We determined that unplugging this laptop from the network would resolve the issue. An online search showed other owners were experiencing this problem as well. Battery swelling is the latest issue with this laptop. We don't normally directly interact with our laptops as they are connected to keyboards, mice, and monitors connected. Today, I happened to check the device itself and found that its battery has swollen enough that the case and keyboard are deformed. I contacted MSI about both problems. They said they did not have any information on the network issue. However, there are many postings about the problem in the MSI forums as well as other sites on the internet. They said the laptop is out of warranty and I would need to purchase a battery. My replacement battery will arrive this week. Both issues are critical but the deformation in the case is pretty extreme. It represents a very real fire hazard related to the LIPO battery in the laptop. I have only had the device for about 13 months and should not be having to replace the battery so soon. I am very disappointed with this laptop and feel MSI should have been more open to addressing the issues.

The laptop has amazing proformace and has a really cool backlit keyboard. The speed is really good and if you don't care about weight it's only about 4 pounds so it's pretty good. The fans don't bug me like others. The graphics are really good too for the 1060. I recommend this to anyone that wants to game and multitask because it does a great job at both.

    Great Gaming Computer

I have been a gamer all my life. I play mostly consoles but decided to try out pc gaming. I did my research and found that MSI GS63 Stealth to be one of the best in the market. It comes with an Nvidia GTX 1060 backed by 6GB of virtual ram. It has 16 GB of DDR4 ram, 256 solid state drive and a 1 tb hard drive. It has a metal case that looks slick. The computer is very light so I can take it with me to continue my gaming wherever I go. The keyboard is backlit and has a rainbow of color. I mostly play MMOs like Final Fantasy 14 which I can play at the highest settings with no problems. I was kinda worried that I wouldn’t be able to play Final Fantasy 15 since it’s a demanding game when it comes to specs but this laptop runs it smoothly. High resolution, 60fps, no problem. The game looks great. Way better than on my PS4. If you’re not into gaming the computer is still amazing. Starts up really fast since it has a solid state but still gives you a lot of space with the 1 tb hard drive. What I love about this computer though is that it gives you high end specs without having to dish out thousands of dolars. Most of the computers I saw with similar specs were over $2,000. Overall, I love this computer and would highly recommend it
