I returned it
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I expected much of this laptop when I read the reviews. Unfortunately I got the unit that keeps on crashing. I love the design, I love everything. But it crashes. I would love to have this one only if it doesn’t crash when updating.

Amazing Laptop!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am a college student perusing a mechanical engineering degree. I bought this laptop for running e design programs along with gaming, Its a great laptop! The NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 1060 graphics card along with the I7-8750H processor, You can do any design program with ease and can games at very high settings with no hesitation! The laptop can keep cool and will not get hot under long time periods of gaming! Also the battery can last around 8 hours of doing your normal web surfing which is great! The steel series keyboard is nice with individually lit keys. The aluminum chassis is great with very little key board flex. It has a great overall design and does not scream gaming laptop which is a key aspect that I was looking for.

Awesome gaming/student laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I chose this laptop because not only is it great for casual gaming, it’s slim and sleek enough to use as an everyday laptop for college. It does absolutely everything I need it to and I’m pretty happy with it. I’d recommend it for anyone looking for a portable gaming rig that wants to use it for other things as well. The only thing I’ve noticed about it that is a slight downfall is the refresh rate is 60hz. Others at this price point with all the same tech specs have typically 120hz but I chose this over those specifically because it is much light by about 1lb and it looks better aesthetically. For me, it’s ok because I’m not really a hardcore gamer but other might need to know it before buying. I’d definitely recommend getting it though!

Great laptop but missing features @bestbuy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this laptop about 3 weeks ago from writing this review. Pros: 1-Amazing keyboard lighting 2-Powerful specs with GTX 1060, 1TB Hard Drive, 256 SSD, and I8 processor 3-Presence of most of the ports anybody would need 3-Elegant and slim design. 4-Portable and light Cons: 1-Screen colors are off because some features including True Colors technology is taken away from the laptops sold at best buy by MSI. I was told this by MSI representative when I called to inquire about this issue. I expected purple to be purple not bluish purple when paying $1.6k. 2-Some features are taken out of Dragon Gaming Center from MSI because the laptop is sold at best buy. This was also mentioned by MSI representative. 3-Heats up so quickly 4-Fan is very loud General thoughts: The laptop is great to use, I have been an MSI user for 2 years now. If screen color doesn't mean much to you, then go buy this laptop. Otherwise, I would recommend either buying this model from other vendors that might have all the features included or a different brand.

Very Tough Decision.....
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Recently I began looking for a new laptop. Previously I had been running a standard laptop, but with technology and kids. It was becoming clear that I would need more than the standard laptop. each week I sit down and play various games with my kid and my laptop wasn't cutting it, our big gaming desktop was well old to say the least ( gen2 I7). So with days of research on the computer and many trips to the big box stores to research in person with demos, I came across the GS63 stealth and the GS65 stealth thin. I went with the GS63, And here is why. Dual hard drives this comes with a m.2 256 gb ssd and a 1tb 3.5 hard drive which gives you a fair amount of space right out of the box a full keyboard with number pad In my opinion a little more stout housing granted both the 63 and 65 have flex in there chassis to me the 63 has less Now heres where it got hard to choose and to justify the 500 dollar price difference GPU: Tthe 63 comes with a gtx 1060 running at 6gb, the 65 runs a 1070 max-q at 8gb. thru the reviews and benchmark tests the 1070 just barely squeaks by the 1060 in most of the tests and thats usually in ultra graphic setting. the 1070 max-q was designed to be a cooler running gpu for laptop settings because of this they had to dial it back some. because of this i couldnt see the extra money being worth it for a dialed back 1070 Display: the displays are both 1080 res but the 65 has a 144hz refresh rate, the 63 only has a 60 hz rate, win for the 65 still why did i go for the 63 simple when i game its usually not derectly on the laptop when im gaming its usually plugged into a monitor with a full mechanical keyboard etc i needed portability for other things, not gaming but didnt want 2 machines. When it all came down to it the 63 suited my needs just fine at a better price point, still a very tough decision the 65 being a great machine and a very sharp unit. the 65 does offer dual m.2 ssd slots in its chassis but comes with a single 512gb out of the box, also both laptops do support up 32gb of ram and both have thunderbolt 3 usb type c connectors should down the road the internal gtx 1060 or 1070 shouldnt cut it anymore these laptops could be mated with eGPU enclosures to prolong your need to upgrade. I definitly recommend both the GS63 and the newer GS65. Also at the time of purchace I picked up the GS63 8RE edition this is upgraded with the newer 6 core I7, the same as the newly release GS65 the specs per MSI website will be close the biggest differences is the 1060 vs 1070 max-q gpu and the 60 vs 144hz refresh rates on the screen everything else is pretty close or the same

Stealthy beast of a laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have my own desktop for gaming but wanted something portable, powerful, preferably with decent battery life and something that won't melt on my lap. This MSI notebook checked all those boxes and more - super nice backlit keyboard, very good battery life (expect at least 3 hours) and it's easy to tell that the engineers really wanted to delight the user. It plays games like Dead by Daylight in Ultra settings and is not bottlenecked by the GPU (~80% utilization). I run it with a laptop fan underneath to keep it running cooler, although it doesn't get as hot or as noisy as other gaming laptops I've tried. Definitely recommended if you have the money and are in the market for a gaming laptop.

Great gaming and all-around laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm replacing a several year old EliteBook and gaming desktop with the MSI GS63. So far I've been quite impressed. The GTX1060 can play most games at higher quality settings with ease. There is some minor screen tearing and I wish it had the G-Sync feature in the LCD panel, but that would have added quite a bit more the price. It's light compared to other models I was considering. Battery life, so far, seems to be adequate. The SteelSeries keyboard is rather fun as well, changing the color themes and what not. I did have a little "buyer's remorse" at first when I bought the laptop due to the price, but I'm confident I've invested in something that will last me a number of years.

Slim, Portable, and Powerful
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As a college student, I have been waiting to buy a laptop for my gaming/editing needs, and now could not be a more perfect time after the release of the brand-new line of laptops with the 8th generation Intel Core processors for gaming. I was checking out the ASUS GU501GM at first but I decided to go for the MSI GS63-010 because of its awesome value for the price point. (Also it's $100 less when I bought it and had the same price with the ASUS.) Here's what I like about the product so far: 1. FORM FACTOR - The laptop is slim and portable enough which is a huge advantage if you're travelling and working altogether. Sure, there are other slimmer gaming laptops out there but they are significantly more expensive and will probably have a Max-Q Variant for its graphics card. (This one has a full NVIDIA GTX 1060) 2. BUILD QUALITY - The laptop feels nothing short of premium. It has a full aluminum chasis with little to no flex on the keyboard deck. The Steel Series per-key RGB lit keyboard feels like a joy to type on and the lighting effects is always welcome. 3. THE SCREEN - This laptop has an IPS display with a 60Hz refresh rate (instead of the 120Hz as advertised in the overview in MSI's website) which should be a standard for every laptop out there. Viewing angles are good and as a photo/video editor, MSI's True Color feature is highly appreciated. I have no way to determine the screen's color gamut and accuracy but from what I'm seeing, the screen has vibrant colors and deep blacks. (MSI's website says the screen can be set to 100% of the sRGB color space.) 4. SPEAKERS - This laptop's speakers gets loud. When I first booted it up, I thought the speakers was at a 100% but it was actually at 67%. Childish Gambino's This is America sounds GREAT on this. The bass probably leaves something to be desired but that's normal for laptops nowadays. 5. STORAGE - Most gaming laptops would pair a 128GB SSD and a 1TB HDD, but the GS63 has a 256GB SSD and the 1TB harddrive out of the box. Game and application file sizes are increasing constantly these days so if you're looking to future proof and not willing to switch out the storage drives, this laptop is probably the way to go. 6. LAPTOP I/O - One of the reasons why I chose this laptop over the ASUS GU501GM is because the GS63 has a wide selection of ports. Some of the ports that you wont find on the latter laptop is an SD card slot (which is absolutely necessary if you're a photographer /videographer) and this one has an Ethernet port (If you're looking for the best download/upload speeds, you'll need this one.) What I didn't like on the laptop: 1. THE TRACKPAD - Before this laptop, I have never carried with me a mouse so I used the trackpad of my previous laptop all the time. The experience was mediocre at best. I had hopes that this laptop would offer a Precision trackpad as others laptops do, but it looks like MSI stayed with the Synaptics software for this one. (C'mon MSI, for a $1500 laptop, you could do better.) Besides you'd opt to get a mouse if you want to game on this anyway. 2. SOFTWARE ISSUES - At first, this laptop's battery would max out to 93% and would not charge beyond that at all. But after a few software fixes, the issue was resolved. SUMMARY: If you're looking for a gaming/editing desktop replacement, look no further. For $1500-1600, this is the best bang for you buck. The pros on this laptop absolutely outweighs the gripes.

Everything I hoped for and more!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a fine, truly portable laptop with plenty of power. I play some high intensity PC games and thought a laptop at this price point may leave some performance to be desired, I'm happy to report, I was wrong. The internals are more than capable, display is good with good contrast. Haven't noticed any stutter or tearing. Really like the build quality on this thing, sleek and solid. The keyboard is better than I expected, good key feel. MSI provides some really cool software for game boosting and audio tuning. The best part, I'm not stuck at my PC desk anymore!! Overall, I was a bit hesitant to try a "gaming" laptop, but no regrets on this MSI beauty.

Amazing for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this laptop for roughly two weeks now and it works amazing. I am able to play a large majority of games running high to ultra settings. The keyboard is amazing as I would expect being from steelseries. In addition, the VR capabilities make this laptop even more of a must buy. It runs an amazing 1060 with a i7 8th gen 8750H. The only issue I have with this laptop is that the trackpad click feels a bit off but it shouldn't be a problem if you're using a mouse. It does run a little loud sometimes but that is due to the dual fans in the computer which can be optimized. I looked for weeks for a laptop and I'm glad I chose this one

Perfect for gaming
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop is now my baby in short. Its slim, lightweight, is not a toaster oven, has graphics straight from the eyes of god. A great deal of storage, wonderful and helpful installed programs such as Dragon Center. Very safe and strong protections (Firewalls etc). I love the keyboard, its stylish, and easy to clean. Very responsive, and very comfortable, and the processing power is as powerful as you can get. I only have one problem with this laptop, and only one thing that makes it not perfect and even then its not a big deal and that is it does lack a cd rom. Again though not much of a problem, and overall I give it 5 stars.

Sleek, powerful, built strong
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My last laptop was an MSI and I loved it. I recently got this one because after 5 years I just needed a more powerful one for what I need to do. It's built strong, has an amazing keyboard and is sleeker than I would have expected for a laptop of this power. It's about half as big as my last MSI, but way more powerful. The screen is pretty vibrant as well. The only thing I've noticed is that the wifi chip doesn't seem to be as strong as my previous one. I need more testing on that front, but it seems to be that way so far. MSI are always expensive, but if you're willing to shell out the money, it is definitely worth it.

A Laptop for Everything
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As a high school student who is trying to expand his horizons, I found that this laptop is a perfect tool for me. I bought this mainly for editing 4k video, and for some gaming on the side. In a sentence, this laptop is the most incredible piece of machinery I’ve ever had the privilege of owning. This laptop can easily breeze through any application I throw at it. The 8750h and the GTX 1060 make a FANTASTIC pair inside of any machine, and it really shows here. In any game I’ve played it will automatically go to max settings, and it will play like a dream. However, out of the box, this laptop has lots of restrictions when you’re on battery power. Games are capped under 30fps and look horrible, and there are very few games you can play smoothly when you’re not plugged in. This laptop also has an enormous selection of ports. I decided to move from the $1100-1400 up to this price range because I could simply not find the hardware I needed with an SD card slot. As a student who is constantly shooting video and using various other equipment, an SD card slot makes a world of difference. I did NOT want to lug around an adapter all day with me. The display of this laptop is good. On MSI’s website they state that it has a certain mode where it can show 100% sRGB. It looks great to me and I feel more than comfortable doing my color grades on here. It’s also incredible that I can edit on premiere no matter where I am, even on battery power. It may die a little quicker than I’d hoped, but it’s out-lasting and out-performing anyone else I know. Interacting with the laptop is outstanding. The keyboard feels great to type on, and I can easily put out 85 wpm. Sometimes 100 on a good day. Key travel is good, and personally I’m in love with the feeling of the keycaps. They have this soft-matte feel to them that just feels great to touch. The trackpad is better than most. I have some trouble with right click every now and then. It feels like the area I need to hit is in a place that I’m not familiar with. Other than that, gestures are good. Scrolling works every time, and other basic use is very easy. Just don’t plan on gaming with the trackpad. Use a mouse. The fancy RGB lighting on the keyboard is pretty cool too, but it’s more of a novelty. I found myself just setting the color to red by default, and that’s usually where it stays. The steelseries software that works with the keyboard does have this feature that changes the keyboard lighting automatically when you launch a game, and I’ve found that very helpful when starting off with a new game that it recognizes. You can also configure your own lighting with a bunch of cool effects, like reactive key for timed activation. There are a few things I’ve noticed that either need to be adjusted, or things that just bothered me. - The keyboard does sometimes get stuck in a certain color profile. This is more of a software thing, but it does bother me. Can be fixed by restarting and changing the profile in steelseries. - The placement of the fans is a little off to me. I feel like they could be more towards the center. As I naturally put my legs towards the edges of the laptop, I end up covering up the fans, which causes the laptop to heat up more. - FINGERPRINTS!!! This laptop is so beautiful! The brush metal finish on the outside looks so incredible, but the moment you touch it the view is destroyed by your nasty finger oil. The area inside surrounding the trackpad and keyboard are also fingerprint magnets. But seriously, this laptop looks incredible. To sum it up, this laptop does everything I want and then some. I’ve had no real problems with it over the past month that I’ve had it, and I see no problems for the foreseeable future.

Great performance
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I picked this thing up so I could do a little gaming while I was on the road. It can power through almost everything but the highest end triple A titles on highest settings. Its thin and not overly heavy for a gaming laptop. The RGB keyboard is a nice feature and the software is easy to use (kind of hard to find though). The keyboard also has little to no flex which is nice as well. One downside is that it does get very hot do to all the high end hardware packed into the small case. Thats only the case when you are straining the system with games and such. Otherwise it stays cool when just surfing.

Great Gaming Computer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this laptop to replace a previous gaming laptop that I had been using for the past 6 years. I had heard many good things about this laptop and am quite impressed thus far. My Pros are the Keyboard is amazing, the system run smoothly, everything is very crisp and the design is very well put together. The metal frame keeps it from breaking should anyone have an accident and drop it. the only Cons I could really find where that the fans are a tad noisy when gaming but they do keep the computer cool, as well as making it twice as cool when slightly elevated so it can breath better!

Great for 3d Modeling
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For starting out in college this laptop it was affordable, it does everything that is required for studying the mechanical engineering program. it handles Microsoft Office, for writing reports, solid edge, for three dimensional modeling, handles gaming nicely. The weight is not to heavy, and the battery can last throughout the day using your basic programs. The key board and touchpad responds and there is no confusion in where that letter came from. Highly recommend for the average college student attending the mechanical engineering or any engineering class.

Balanced Performance
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Chose the laptop as the most balanced option between gaming, portability, and price. For the money I think this is the best deal with a 1060. The 8750h was a little bit of a concern for me. Even under my normal workload I can push the processor to it's limits. Having gamed and worked on a desktop 6700k it's a bit of an adjustment. The thermal performance and reasonable turbo do a good job of keeping up, just don't expect it to absolutely tear. Fan noise is very reasonable. Even when fully maxed out the fans are more of a drone then a whine. Headphones will easily drown it out. Keyboard is decent. Switch throw isn't super long, response seems very accurate though. Although they sound 'soft' its better then fake plasticy clicking that I found the Dell's to have. Overall I'm not blown away by the performance but I'm satisfied with the build quality. Would recommend.

powerful slim laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I ont ame but I needed something powerful for the type of applications I use. So for, this machine has been able to handle all my applications with ease. I love how slim and lightweight it is. All the other gaming computers are bulky which I hate. This laptop is sturdy and built very well. Honestly, I cant see how another gaming computer can top this one. I also love how you can program the keys with individual colors making it easy to ue hotkeys. The display is very impressive and plugging in multiple monitors is easy.
