The MSI GS63 Stealth is a perfect laptop for the gamer on the go. I was looking for a laptop with sleek and solid build quality , but not at an extremely high premium as this is not my main rig. I loved the non-flashy , sleek and smooth design it offers as opposed to traditional bulky gaming laptops. In addition , as for any gamer the components were really a winner as opposed to other gaming laptops like the ASUS equivalent which had 128GIGS less on their SSD! Extremely happy with the price point and the discounts Best Buy offered for my purchase. Would 100% recommend for a gamer who has to leave his main rig at home often and game on the go.

This isn't my first laptop by any means, but it is defiantly my first gaming pc. i haven't found a game i cant run but i will say the fan is loud (almost alarmingly so) and it still gets insanely hot. the sound isn't the best either. not very loud. that being said i like it. it is very portable and light.

I am in college double majoring in Computer Science and Multi Software development. My major requires me to have a laptop with a minimum of 16GB of ram and at minimum, a GTX 1050. This laptop meets this requirement most definitely and functions very well. To begin, this laptop has a nice design to it. It does not spell at "gamer" rather than looking more on the luxuries side, and that is what I personally like. Plus the laptop is quit thin and only weighs around 4 lbs. This laptop is equipped with a GTX 1060 6GB GDDR5, 16 GB of DDR4 memory @2400Mhz, an 8th generation Intel i7-8750H, 256 M.2 SSD Storage, and an 1TB SATA HDD at 5200 RPM. This laptop, with the new next gen. Intel processors, is powerful enough to handle just about any games and intense programs at ultra settings 1080p @60Hz (yes the screen is only 60 Hz). As far as ports go, the laptop has a decent selection of ports. There are images displayed above for the product showing the ports. No USB-C though, but it does have three USB-3.1 Ports and one USB-2.0 port. It also has a thunderbolt 3 port. Setup: The setup process wasn't all that bad to me personally like it has been for other laptops I've used in the past. When you first startup the laptop and set it up, the CPU will be (or at least was for me) quite high. To begin, you should want to remove all or mostly all bloatware from the laptop (especially Norton Security, as this will drive your CPU to max at times. Unless you personally use it or want to use it, keep it. Otherwise, remove it). I recommend not removing any MSI, Intel, or Rival gear software, as those software work independently with the laptop. Once you do this, make sure to update most programs on the laptop, including software such as MSI and Intel. After that update the graphics card drivers in the Geforce Experience application. Then restart the computer and update Windows. This can be a pain since there has been so many updates released over the past months for Windows 10, so make sure to do download and install them all. The issue is it will try installing them all at once which it cannot do since some need to be installed before others. To ensure no issues, troubleshoot the Windows Update software in the settings. If it detects issues, make sure they are resolved and restart the computer. Then continue updates. When you're all done, you should have the new Windows Feature update, released back in April I do believe. After all this the computer should be functioning normally and be much faster. The battery modes (using MSI Dragon Center) and Battery Life: The laptop has different battery modes that are all handled by MSI through the Dragon Center application. The dragon center application allows you to check the temperatures of your GPU and CPU, free ram, and free disk space. It also allows you to change the battery modes of course and many other things. Speaking of the battery modes, there are a few. Those include Turbo (which is mostly used for gaming), Sport, Comfortable, ECO, and Power Settings. ECO is mostly used when you're not gaming and the AC power adapter is unplugged. This will ensure your battery life is more efficient and has long legibility. Power Settings mode makes it so MSI uses the default settings in Windows in the power management section (aka. Balanced Mode, High Performance, etc). When the AC power adapter is plugged in, you have access to all the modes. When unplugged, you only have access to ECO and Power Settings. Because of this the performance of the laptop during heavy applications and games, when only running on battery power, is jeopardized compared to when running the laptop with the AC power adapter plugged in. As far as battery life goes, when running on ECO mode and not gaming but maybe doing some light tasks (such as web browsing, YouTube videos, word, and etc), I was able to get close to around 4 hours of battery life, which is pretty decent for a gaming laptop. When gaming on the laptop on battery power, I was only able to get close to an hour of battery life. The charger for this laptop does not use USB-C unfortunately, however, it does have a 90 degree turn capability to it, so you can situate it in an different position depending on where you're sitting. Temperatures: The only caveat about this laptop really is the temperatures. When idling, the temperatures of the CPU hover around 30 - 40 degrees Celsius. This is not all that bad, however, when running intense applications or games, the temperatures of the CPU can hit an astonishing 80 - 98+ degrees Celsius. Do keep in mind that the max limit the CPU can take is 100 degrees Celsius and this laptop reaches those temperatures at only around 30/40 percent usage on the CPU. So don't count on doing anything more intensive involving the CPU. The GPU isn't any different either. When the GPU hits around 98/99 percent usage (which it should on all games and heavy programs involving it), it hits an astonishing 91/92 degrees Celsius. The max temperature an GTX 1060 6GB GDDR5 can take before shutting down via downclocking due to temperature throttling is 93 degrees Celsius. This is right on the edge of that. And do keep in mind that I had reached these temperatures in only a few minutes of using a heavy application. Afterwards, they didn't seem to change. I also had the laptop on a flat surface with enough airflow. Other than the temperatures, the laptop is solid. Even though the temperatures are high, as long as you don't overdo it, the laptop shouldn't have any temperature throttling and applications will utilize the laptops hardware fully. The laptop also has padding on the bottom of the chassis to keep your lap from burning when having the laptop on your lap. The keyboard and palm rest area does not get that hot either, so the laptop is comfortable to use when gaming or doing intense work. Keyboard and Trackpad: The keyboard on this laptop is really solid. It has good key travel and you should be able to get used to the laptops keyboard rather quickly and type decently fast with it. The keyboard's lighting was designed by Steel Series, so it has really good RGB lights and the keyboard's lighting can be customized via the Steel Series application on Windows. I personally have a Steel Series gaming mouse and I think the Steel Series application is one of the best in managing your peripheral hardware, by Steel Series of course. The keyboard also has custom function keys to manage the lighting profiles of the keyboard, as well as edit things such as the screen brightness, the keyboard brightness, the system sounds, and so forth. There is also a macro key assigned to F4 on the keyboard. To use it, hold down Fn + F4 to set what the key does. Then when you hit Fn + F4, it will launch an specific application you set. The trackpad uses windows precision drivers, however, the surface of the trackpad is plastic. Therefore, the trackpad isn't all that solid. It is kind of hard to get used to and doesn't work all that well sensitivity wise due to its surface material. You can of course edit the settings of the trackpad in windows, but it will take a lot of tweaking until you can get it just right. Audio: The speakers on the laptop are not that terrible. They are rather decent. The issue is that they are facing downward on the bottom of the laptop making them more unclear and washed out. Also there is no bass what so ever, so don't expect to listen to music all that often using the speakers of the laptop. The headphone jack is decent of course though. Summary: This laptop is a really good choice if you're looking for a gaming laptop that can do both gaming and work. The laptop is packed with decent features and 2018 hardware. The keyboard is fairly good, but the trackpad's surface could use a slight touch-up. The battery is great for a gaming laptop and the battery software ensures good battery life but also a great gaming performance. The speakers aren't all that bad, but would rather function better being placed on top of the chassis rather than the bottom. Temperatures are by far the worst part of this laptop, however, when reapplying thermal paste and positioning the laptop differently, you can sufficiently lower temperatures but not by a huge margin. The setup for the laptop took some time but afterwards, the performance of the laptop has been up to expectations. The overall design of the laptop is very well done and the laptop has a good selection of ports. Needless to say, this is a great laptop for the value of your money and I could not say enough that I do personally recommend this laptop to you.

My previous laptop was a Macbook Air which I used for my 4 years in college. When most of my friends moved from League of Legends to FortniteBR, I felt left out because my laptop could not run Fortnite and I could not play games with them. That is why I bought this MSI laptop. It is thin. The keyboard is nice. The sound is good too. Most importantly, it runs Fortnite smoothly.

I was looking for a laptop that was able to run games like LOL and Overwatch, but I did not want to spend a horrible amount of money. I feel like with this one I got an amazing deal and it is fully capable of doing everything I need! The keyboard not only looks amazing it feels amazing as well! They overall design is great and it's a well built machine! Would highly recommend

This laptop has been able to handle everything I have thrown at it. As a gaming PC it runs a little hot, but the graphics are phenomenal. I wanted a laptop that was capable for gaming as well as something easy to transport for work, this has definitely fulfilled my requirements and has been great to work with for producing/creating music. Overall very happy with this purchase.

I got it at a little discounted price on BestBuy and honestly, it is a great laptop for the price. The specs, the built, everything is solid. Great specs for a gaming laptop you need for long term use. The way it is so slim and light compared to its competitors with the same specs, it's amazing. It also doesn't heat up much and it stays pretty quiet too. All in all, brilliant!

First time buyer of this type of msi comp and couldn’t agree more. It’s the real deal if you’re looking for a gaming computer and a desktop away from home on the go. The packaging was great and after using the comp for sometime, I’m glad I switched to it from a previous dell buy that I returned coz it was heavy. This amazing comp is really light despite what it carries!

I'm not a gamer but I always need good graphics cards and processors as I use a lot of cad programs. This beast hasn't had a single problem running fusion 360, aolidedge, or solidworks. I love this pc. And the ability to live up to the name is fanominal. I can feel safe bringing this to a business meeting without worrying about it looking like a a gaming rig.

I love this machine. This Laptop is the best I've ever owned and I'm glad I made the decision. At first i was hesitant because the price for this computer was towards the ceiling for my budget for a new computer but I made the decision and I'm happy with it. The computer is light and fairly portable which is perfect for me because I'm a student and carrying around a big hunk of a machine was not ideal. I love to game. This knocks it out of the park on that and the only set back is that because this laptop is thin, it will heat up quick if you game on it. All in all, this Laptop is worth the money

I'm just gonna go straight to the point. This computer is a great computer. I am a college student who is in film school. I needed a computer with great specs. With all the features that this model has, I know I can run heavy software without my computer struggling. This model has an 8th gen intel core processor I7. with a Nvidia graphics card 1060 with 1 TB hard drive. To me, these specs are really essential. With these specs not only can I get my school work done but it can run video games pretty great (When plugged in) I only have two complaints for this computer: The battery life and the keyboard. Although I do understand that this is a gaming computer and that a laptop isn't going to be as strong as a desktop, but when this computer isn't plugged in, the battery percent drops very quickly on its peak performance. although I understand why Its battery doesn't last as long it is annoying at times. The keyboard is another complaint. The computer is wide so it its typing range is comfortable. After using a MacBook Pro for 3-year typing on this is something to adjust to. although I have two complaints they aren't the biggest complaints. overall its a great piece of tech to own with outstanding specs. I recommend this to others!

I bought this laptop for my gaming grandsons. Thought I would just charge/set it up so they could just proceed to the good stuff but I'm afraid I may not let it go. Love the lights, love the keypad, love the speed. The only negative I saw in the reviews was fan noise but it's really not bad. A tad more expensive but you really get what you pay for.

This is the second MSI laptop I have purchased, primarily for engineering work and software development. It is by far the most effective machine for these functions as compared to Lenovo, Republic of Gamers and HP laptops I have owned. Keyboard is excellent, reasonably light for travel and battery life is good for this style of laptop.

I bought this laptop after my venerable Asus died from a terminal case of PSU decay. I had to buy something quickly because I was working on deadlines and could not wait five or six days for a delivery. I wanted the laptop for heavy academic research and writing with multiple screens open and for photo manipulation in Adobe. I did some research on a second computer and decided on a few options. Then I went to Best Buy to see what they had available. I was immediately drawn to the msi GS63 Stealth-010. I knew it had good reviews, and it was a good price, actually less expensive than I usually paid for a new computer--desktop or laptop. I have used it for less than a week, but I have a few impressions already formed, though I have not used it in any demanding gaming situations (and will not), as many reviewers have. I really like the general build quality. It seems very well put together and durable, light weight, so it will be easy to carry on planes or to work in non-office locations, not like my 9 plus pound 17 inch Asus. The screen is bright and clean. The lighted keyboard helps when working at night. I wanted the extra disc storage that the 1 TB gave me in addition to the 256 SSD, though I would have preferred a 512 SSD. It can certainly handle the academic uses I have put it through the past week and the minor photographic manipulation I have had an opportunity to do in only a couple of days. I can say that it would be a great computer for a college student or academic professional. On the negative side, I don't like the position of the delete key. It will take some getting use to its odd location, instead of above the backspace key. The keyboard font seems to emphasize style over clarity and practicality. I prefer distinct letters to the rounded shapes and the single letter E used for the W, M, and E, just facing different directions. The location of the power cord is not very convenient. It would have been better in the rear, causing less clutter on the side of the computer. I also would have preferred a power switch on the inside of the computer instead of the lower outside right corner. I also dread having to access the battery. The Asus battery was so easy to pop in and out, with a flip of a latch, but I will have to take the back off of this computer to get at it, with LOTS of screws keep track of because they vary in size for specific locations. In spite of these issues, I think I am really going to like this laptop, and yes, I would recommend it to a friend.

System error. My daughter will have to visit Best Buy in College Park, Maryland to hopefully get it working again.

As a student entering college as a Chemical Engineering major, I needed an extremely powerful laptop in order to handle the demands of my program. I searched tirelessly finding a laptop with enough RAM, graphics card storage, and speed, that was also thin and light enough for me to carry around from class to class. Every laptop I found had some of these components but none of them had all. That was until I found the MSI GS63 Stealth laptop. With 16GB of RAM, an Intel Core i7 processor, an SSD with plenty of storage space, and 6GB of graphics, this laptop had it all. On top of that it is under 5 lbs (which is unheard of for a laptop with that much capability), and is less than an inch thick (also unheard of for such a powerful laptop). I found other laptops with similar specs but each one of them felt and looked way too heavy and bulky and none of them felt portable like a laptop should. As an added bonus, the backlit keyboard will come in very handy for those late nights in my college dorm when I don't want to turn on a light and disturb my roommates. Overall, I know this laptop is going to serve me very well in college. 10/10 would recommend to anyone.

The MSI GS63 VR Stealth Pro is a great laptop. It's equipped with the NVidia Geforce 1060 making it to be able to play about any PC game out there. The Intel I7 processor and 16 gigs of ram really make multitasking very easy. and the ssd make it boot up in second rather than minutes like mechanical drives. This laptop is a great buy.

This thing is just as advertised, and better. So far, its perfect for what I needed/wanted in a laptop. Super fast, sleek, lightweight, amazing. I highly recommend this laptop to anyone looking for an extremely capable gaming laptop, or even business professionals who need fast processing and great graphics card capability!!!
