Thin, Light, Powerful
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop is all aluminum, but uses paneling instead of a unibody construction. The thermals out of the box are decent, but can be dramatically improved after a repaste. If you're a PC enthusiast, it would take probably 30-45 minutes from start to finish to repaste this laptop. It's fairly easy but the the motherboard being upside-down may seem intimidating. Exercise caution when removing the ribbon cables, as well as when handling the motherboard itself. I saw about a ~25C drop in temperatures after repasting with Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut. Although this laptop has a GTX 1070 Max-Q, I am hitting about 1700Mhz boost after my repaste. The SSD included in this particular model runs at SATA speeds, so you will need to purchase an NVMe drive if you're looking for faster drive speeds.

Perfect Laptop for Gaming / School
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop was purchased because of the entire package offered. I wanted an 8th gen 6 core processor for raiding in World of Warcraft and the new Monster Hunter World on PC to maximize FPS (Both are CPU intensive), and I wanted something I can easily have on my lap when school work is needing completed. The laptop contains an i7-8750H (Turbo's up to 4.2 GHz that I have seen). The RAM is 2667 MHz, the SSD is okay (speed-wise), it's pretty standard, boots are almost instant from powered off to desktop. The first thing I did was tear the bottom chassis and took the motherboard out (Required for M.2 SSD Installs) to flip the motherboard over and install a Samsung 960 Evo for insane speeds, and the process was simple. The keyboard is a a joy to type on, holding down the fn (function) key highlights your options that can be selected, the Steelseries key changes the pattern on the RGB keys, each choice is a delight to watch. The exterior is perfect as it's not screaming attention, but does love fingerprints. The 1070 is indeed a Max Q Design (The power supply is 180 watts) so if you were hoping for a full notebook 1070 this laptop doesn't have it (the frame rates in games are still insane). The 144 hertz panel has "unofficial" G-Sync support so if it ever gets licensed, the laptop already has the hardware to support it. Overall I absolutely love this thing. Dave2D and linustechtips reviewed it if you are skeptical about performance, check both out on youtube and then make the choice if this is right for you. I have no complaints. Oh and Monster Hunter World runs at 80-100 FPS given the Geforce Experience recommendations for those wondering, World of Warcraft you can guess will run flawlessly with the 4.2 GHz Turbo boost and Intel's performance per single core.

Great Laptop
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this laptop for music production and it is doing a stellar job! It runs every game I throw at it too! My only complaints are that the motherboard is installed upside down so there is no easy access to RAM or SSD slots, and MSI bloatware is really bad, but I don't think it's enough to lose a star. I plan on only doing 1 major overhaul to max RAM and drive space and also apply high end thermal paste on the CPU and GPU. Overall I'm very happy.

Huge aesthetic improvement; solid work computer
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I upgraded from the GS63VR 7RF to this and boy am I not disappointed. The movement of the power button from the side to above the keyboard was a huge benefit (no more accidental sleep). The option to add another M.2 SSD is also a great benefit. I love the slim design and understated design compared to the 7rf. I'm currently driving 3 external monitors and the built-in display with ease. Bloat-ware was minimal, and everything works out of the box. Very pleased.

Best Laptop Available - Gaming & Productivity
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Like the title states, the MSI GS65 Stealth Thin is quite easily one of the best laptops on the market right now for not only gaming, but also productivity related tasks. Build Quality & Design: The chassis appears to be a very thin aluminum. This allows the laptop to be incredibly lightweight, which is one of the best aspects of this laptop. For a 15.6" laptop, it feels relatively as heavy as an iPad pro with a type cover attached - that is to say, not very heavy. The trade off to this is that the laptop does have some flex in certain areas. The display does flex slightly when opening and there is some slight flex over the vent above the keyboard. However in everyday use it's not noticeable (how often do you really just press down on random areas of the chassis of your laptop..?). There is little-to-no flex in the keyboard or palm rests. The design is superb. The design is very nice and subdued. It's something you can take out in a coffee shop, school, or at most individual's office space and not feel as though all eyes are judging. The gold dragon is the only thing that clues this as being a little different than your run-of-the-mill laptop, and it looks more elegant than gaudy. The keyboard however does have an eclectic font typeface. However, this is a completely subjective aspect of the laptop, neither good nor bad. I personally find the font to be fun and I enjoy it. The keyboard comes with RGB lighting which can be customized or disabled as you prefer. The quality of the lighting is superb, and seems on par with Razer's "Chroma". As far as the display, it's beautiful. The brightness is somewhere between standard and great. It's not the brightest screen, but it definitely does well for daily use. As far as screen bleeding, this is easily the first laptop screen I've owned that has absolutely NO screen bleed (seriously!), which is a massive 5 star to MSI. I don't know if I hit the display lottery, but I'm very happy with this display. The 144hz refresh rate also allows for snappy performance and looks great - particularly when scrolling through extensive word and excel documents. Text doesn't blur together, it remains crisp. Performance: Unfortunately, I can't speak much to the power of the i7-8750H as I don't do any photo or video editing. However, I can comment about the GPU. The GTX 1070 is of the max-q variant, meaning it is approximately 10-15% slower than the standard mobile 1070. This is a good thing as it allows the computer to run cooler and have better battery life without significant drop in performance. This laptop will shred through most modern AAA titles at 70+ FPS at 1080p resolution (I can't speak on 4K gaming). The thermals are also good, for a laptop this size. You have to compromise a little when it comes to thermals. Small packages cannot deliver low temperatures. However, MSI has done a good job. With three exhaust vents (two on the sides, one in the back), there is plenty is space to dispel the heat. There are also two large air intake vents on the top and bottom of the keyboard. As a result, the laptop stays relatively cool while gaming both internally and to the touch over the keyboard and palm rests. The fans do kick on during serious gaming, but the sound is a lower, less distracting, whirling sound. You'll notice it, but likely be okay with it. Battery: This is one of the big selling points to me. For such a powerful laptop, the battery during normal operation is phenomenal. Combinations of web browsing, YouTube, listening to music, and working in Microsoft office programs, I average between 6-10 hours (depending on what all I have open). Gaming is substantially less - around 1 hour to 4 hours (depending on the game). You'll want your charger if you plan on gaming for hours on end. Other: Audio is good. Laptop speakers are almost always awful. These are pretty good for simple YouTube and movie watching. If you're seriously into gaming or are an audiophile, you'll likely be using headphones anyways which makes it a non-issue. If you don't have headphones, go get a pair. The built in audio drivers are pretty good with headphones. The touchpad uses windows precision drivers and is very responsive. It's a little smaller than something like the macbook pro or surface book, but I never found that I ran out of space during normal use. It's positioned more on the left side of the laptop which is nice for typing (as your palm doesn't brush up against it), but can be uncomfortable to use for an extended period of time as your right hand has to bend sideways more. Yet again, it's not a deal breaker at the least, just something I've noticed. If you plan on doing a lot of mouse intense work, you'd likely want a mouse anyways, regardless of the laptop. There are no biometric login features, so no Windows Hello or fingerprint. However, I find that a quick 4 digit pin number unlocks just as quick as it takes for most Windows Hello equipped laptop's infrared cameras to kick on. Bottom line: No laptop is perfect. But this one is dang near close and I have to give a lot of credit to MSI for delivering such a great product. If you're a student, a hardcore gamer, or just your standard guy/gal who needs a solid laptop who also likes to play some games - this is the laptop for you. I hope this helps some of you in your decision. Note: The 512gb hard drive that comes with this Best Buy edition is partitioned into two drives: (Windows C:\ and Data D:\). There is nothing on the Data partition and can be deleted and reallocated to the C:\ drive for a larger volume. You will need a third party partition manager (I used MiniTool Partition Free) to delete the D:\ drive and extend the size of the C:\ drive. Before doing this, make sure you grab a flash drive and create a recovery drive just in case something goes south and you need to reinstall windows from scratch. You can also delete the hibernation file (Open command prompt in admin mode, type powercfg /hibernation off) to save an extra 6gb of storage.

The "Rico Suave" of gaming laptops
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love the way this looks. It's so thin, and sleek that I can bring this to work and no one would know it's a gaming laptop. I actually like the feel of the keyboard. For a thin laptop, I think the fans work hard to cool the laptop during gameplay. Aside from the noise, it's really great. with these small bevels,I like how you get the most out of the screen! TBH I cant wait to bring it to work. I'll update my review later, once i play around with this laptop more

Just fits all my needs! (Just amazing @the moment)
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The product's fans are super quite and boots up instantly. I was just astonished by the performance of the device. Everything runs at 60 Fps or higher on super high settings. Some things I tested: Pubg Black Ops4 (Cpu intensive- Runs really well!) Overwatch (ik not that intensive.) CSGO League of Legends & More Overall just a great product, more updates will come in as I learn more functions and dig others out! Highly Recommended!

Awesome Laptop, powerful and very portable
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This MSI laptop is really good in many aspects and outstanding in many more. Currently I consider the G65 Stealth Thin laptops the best ones for the buck, and for once I am really happy of not sacrificing anything with this model. Everything has been done with extreme care in it, from the unboxing to all the included technical features. To me it is like having a desktop powerful computer but in a very portable laptop which is amazing. How come a GTX 1070 can be in this beast so thin. I love it. So, it was my moment to renovate and get a new machine and as usual I did some initial research. PCs are always an attractive option and are better priced due to their more flexible size integration, and in this case I was aiming for one machine with good graphics card for once. On the other hand, powerful and portable was always contrary to the thermodynamic laws, or so I thought. What would I do in the past? Surely sacrificing power & Graphics and pick portability. Then I saw the Stealth Thin laptops from MSI. What the... So yes, in my view they have over delivered with this laptop series: thin and stylish one and prepared either for the business days or for the gaming ones, being able to run anything in High and most in Ultra. Also VR ready in case you are interested on 3D experiences. What else? Excellent cooling system and 144Hz screen, thin bezel, RGB keyboard, i7 8th gen, etc. Could not be more happy with this purchase. So far it works like a charm and is very comfortable to use on a daily basis. If you are considering purchasing a laptop, I highly recommend you take a look at the GS65 Stealth Thin series.

Excellent!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great laptop for a gamer who wants some mobility in his setup. It's very slim and light-weight, which makes it very easy to transport. The only issues I've found are teredo issues and microphone issues. The mic issue can just be solved with a USB headset when gaming. I've been unable to solve the teredo issue, but it only causes problems with the Xbox application. Discord, however, still works fine.

Excellent
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Used primarily for X-Plane I now get 25 - 70 FPS depending on graphics settings, world objects, anti- aliasing settings etc. Big improvement over my iMac which at best I got 3-11 FPS on very lowest setting. It was basically unusable. Now I fly with high or max settings and get 30+ FPS consistently. Everything happens now as published. If an approach is 4 minutes FAF to MAP then it takes 4 minutes minutes not 20. Love it.

Best laptop I've ever owned
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After a few days of owning this laptop, I can definitely say this is my favorite laptop I've owned. I got this as a school laptop so the combination of light weight, hefty specs, and professional looks are a great combination for a laptop for school. I'm very pleased with the performance of the 970 gpu in the laptop and it definitely will do an excellent job running most if not all new games at least 60 fps, probably more.

Great, slim gameing laptop.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop is great for someone who wants a powerful gaming experience in a slim form factor device. Having used this computer for the few days have have had no major problems. I would agree that the build quality could be a bit better, and the fans can get loud, but that's to be expected based on whats inside this machine. I have owned several MSI products before, and I have never had any problems. The screen is a good 144hz, very smooth, although only 1080. the keyboard comfortable, and the gaming experience is great. A few other cons are the battery life, but its whats to be expected on a gaming laptop. I summary this laptop looks good, runs great and will provide a great gaming experience on the go.

Great portable gaming laptop
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been using the MSI GS65 for a few weeks now, and it's been great. I purchased it so that I could play games as well as take my computer to classes, and this has been perfect so far. It's battery life is above average for laptops in the space, and the hardware is perfect for the crisp 1080p display, I can play most games at max settings above 60fps, and competitive games like CSGO I take advantage of the 144hz display.

Fantastic Machine for VR
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The GS65 is probably one of the best deals you can get right now for a powerful thin & light gaming laptop. The screen is fantastic, the design is beautiful and more subdued than other machines in this class (which is a good thing). I like the gold accents and the steelseries backlight customization is great. Packing a GTX 1070 and a 144Hz refresh rate at this price point is unbeatable. It definitely checked all of the boxes when I was looking to build out my mobile VR rig. It had no trouble driving some of the most demanding titles for the HTC Vive right out of the box. Plus, all of my non VR titles can be played on ultra settings. My only major complaint is that there's a little bit of flex to the top case, especially around the right palm rest above the battery. Though most of the time it's barely noticeable, it's not something I would expect out of a notebook at this price. Also, while the speakers are loud and clear, they lack power in the low range. Granted, most of the time I'm using headphones while gaming so it's not really an issue. Either way, if you're in the market for a new gaming portable, don't look any further - you will not be disappointed with this.

Amazing computer if you move around a lot
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Light, good looking and fast! Pros: 1- Light so you can take anywhere, though do set it on a hard surface. 2- 15.6" 144Hz screen is simply amazing! Big enough to not need to hook it up to a boring 60Hz monitor -Yawn- 3- Bezels are really thin on the screen, gives it a really cool look to the laaptop. 4- NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1070 is really good! Handled every game I've played so far without worrying of dropping FPS. 5- Good enough audio quality but then again I only use headphones so that's why it's not a con to me. Cons: 1- HEATS UP!! The keyboard doesn't really heat up that much but the sides where the air comes out of is simply to hot to touch! Could be fixed by using liquid metal on the cpu though. 2- Kind of the same issue as above con. Very loud has enough ventilation on it but the laptop is slim so not a lot of heat dissipation goes around. Then again, I always use headphones so never got bother by loud sound. 3- Not as easy as it should be to upgrade your hardware, but that's not a deal breaker, only makes you put in a little more work into it. 4- Right out of the box, I had an issue with the screen stuttering whenever I'd open a program or there was a switch between integrated and dedicated GPU. Fixed the problem by updating every single driver in device manager. Not really a con if you think about it. Long story short: This laptop has been amazing so far, do not regret buying it and now it made me interested in more MSI products. Might not even upgrade it anytime soon, because it's really amazing!
